Apostelgeschichte 5
1 Ein Mann aber mit Namen Ananias nebst seiner Frau Sapphira verkaufte ein Gut,
But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 unterschlug vom Erlös mit Vorwissen auch der Frau, und brachte einen Teil davon und legte ihn den Aposteln zu Füßen.
And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3 Petrus aber sprach: Ananias, warum hat der Satan dein Herz erfüllt, den heiligen Geist zu belügen und zu unterschlagen vom Erlös aus dem Lande?
But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Konntest du es nicht behalten als dein Eigentum, und ebenso nach dem Verkauf frei verfügen über das Deinige? Warum hast du dir das in den Sinn gesetzt? Du hast nicht Menschen belogen, sondern Gott.
Whiles it remained, was it not your own? and after it was sold, was it not in your own power? why have you conceived this thing in your heart? you have not lied to men, but to God.
5 Wie aber Ananias diese Worte hörte, fiel er nieder und verschied; und große Furcht kam über alle, die es hörten.
And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 Die jungen Männer aber standen auf, rafften ihn zusammen und trugen ihn hinaus, und begruben ihn.
And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
7 Nach Verfluß von etwa drei Stunden aber trat auch seine Frau ein, die von dem Vorgefallenen nichts wußte.
And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8 Petrus aber redete sie an: sage mir, ob ihr das Land um so und so viel abgegeben habet? Sie aber sagte: ja um so viel.
And Peter answered to her, Tell me whether you sold the land for so much? And she said, Yes, for so much.
9 Petrus aber sagte zu ihr: was ist das, daß ihr zusammen ausgemacht habt, den Geist des Herrn zu versuchen? Siehe, die Füße derer, die deinen Mann begraben haben, sind an der Thüre, sie werden dich hinaustragen.
Then Peter said to her, How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried your husband are at the door, and shall carry you out.
10 Da fiel sie sogleich zu seinen Füßen nieder und verschied. Als aber die jungen Männer eintraten, fanden sie sie tot, und trugen sie hinaus, und begruben sie bei ihrem Manne.
Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
11 Und es kam große Furcht über die ganze Gemeinde und über alle, welche dieses hörten.
And great fear came on all the church, and on as many as heard these things.
12 Durch die Hand der Apostel aber geschahen viele Zeichen und Wunder im Volk; und sie pflegten alle sich zu vereinigen in der Halle Salomos.
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders worked among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
13 Von den übrigen aber wagte niemand sich ihnen anzuschließen, sondern das Volk sah an ihnen hinauf.
And of the rest dared no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.
14 Um so mehr aber wuchs die Zahl derer, die an den Herrn glaubten, Scharen von Männern und Frauen.
And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15 So daß sie die Kranken selbst auf die Straßen hinausbrachten und auf Betten und Bahren hinlegten, damit wenn Petrus käme, doch sein Schatten auf einen von ihnen fallen möge.
So that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 Es strömte aber auch die Menge von den Städten der Umgegend Jerusalems zusammen, und sie brachten Kranke und solche, die von unreinen Geistern belästigt waren, die wurden alle geheilt.
There came also a multitude out of the cities round about to Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
17 Der Hohepriester aber erhob sich samt seinem ganzen Anhang, das heißt der Sekte der Sadducäer, und sie wurden voll Eifersucht,
Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees, ) and were filled with indignation,
18 und legten Hand an die Apostel, und setzten sie in öffentliches Gefängnis.
And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 Ein Engel des Herrn aber öffnete bei Nacht die Thüren des Gefängnisses, führte sie heraus und sprach:
But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 gehet hin und tretet auf, und verkündet im Tempel dem Volke ohne Vorbehalt die Worte von diesem Leben.
Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
21 Da sie aber das hörten, giengen sie um die Morgenfrühe in den Tempel und lehrten. Der Hohepriester aber stellte sich ein mit seinem Anhang, und sie riefen das Synedrium zusammen und die ganze Aeltestenschaft der Söhne Israels, und schickten ins Gefängnis sie zu holen.
And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 Die Diener aber, da sie hinkamen, fanden sie nicht im Gefängnis. Sie kehrten aber zurück und berichteten:
But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,
23 das Gefängnis haben wir mit aller Sorgfalt verschlossen gefunden, und die Wächter an den Thüren stehend; aber da wir öffneten, haben wir drinnen niemand gefunden.
Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.
24 Wie aber der Kommandant des Tempels und die Hohenpriester diese Dinge hörten, sannen sie vergeblich darüber, was das sein solle.
Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them to what this would grow.
25 Es erschien aber einer, und meldete ihnen: siehe, die Männer, die ihr ins Gefängnis gesetzt, stehen im Tempel und lehren das Volk.
Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
26 Hierauf gieng der Kommandant mit seinen Leuten hin, und holte sie, nicht mit Gewalt, denn sie fürchteten sich vor dem Volke, sie möchten gesteinigt werden.
Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 Sie brachten sie aber vor das Synedrium, und der Hohepriester befragte sie
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 also: wir haben euch doch strenge befohlen, nicht auf diesen Namen zu lehren, und siehe, ihr habt Jerusalem erfüllt mit eurer Lehre, und wollt auf uns das Blut dieses Menschen bringen.
Saying, Did not we straightly command you that you should not teach in this name? and, behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.
29 Petrus aber und die Apostel antworteten: man muß Gott mehr gehorchen als Menschen.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
30 Der Gott unserer Väter hat Jesus auferweckt, den ihr hingerichtet hattet durch Aufhängen am Holz.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hanged on a tree.
31 Den hat Gott als Führer und Erlöser erhöht zu seiner Rechten, zu geben Israel Buße und Sündenvergebung.
Him has God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
32 Und wir sowohl sind Zeugen dieser Dinge, als auch der heilige Geist, welchen Gott gegeben denen, die ihm gehorchen.
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God has given to them that obey him.
33 Sie aber, da sie dieses hörten, ergrimmten sie und waren entschlossen sie umzubringen.
When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
34 Es stand aber im Synedrium ein Pharisäer auf, mit Namen Gamaliel, ein bei allem Volk angesehener Gesetzeslehrer, hieß die Leute einen Augenblick hinausführen,
Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
35 und sprach zu ihnen: ihr israelitische Männer, nehmt euch in Acht bei diesen Leuten mit eurem Vorhaben.
And said to them, You men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do as touching these men.
36 Denn vor diesen Tagen stand auf Theudas, der machte etwas aus sich, dem hiengen etwa vierhundert Männer an; er wurde getötet, und alle die sich zu ihm hielten, versprengt und vernichtet.
For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nothing.
37 Nach ihm stand auf Judas der Galiläer, in den Tagen der Schatzung, und brachte ein Volk zum Abfall unter seiner Führung; und er gieng zu Grunde, und alle die zu ihm gehalten, wurden zerstreut.
After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
38 Und für diesmal sage ich euch, lasset ab von diesen Leuten und gebt sie frei (denn wenn der Plan oder das Werk von Menschen ist, so wird es zu nichte werden;
And now I say to you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nothing:
39 ist es aber aus Gott, so vermöget ihr nicht sie zu vernichten) um nicht gar als Gotteswidersacher erfunden zu werden. Sie folgten ihm aber,
But if it be of God, you cannot overthrow it; lest haply you be found even to fight against God.
40 ließen die Apostel rufen, und mit Ruten züchtigen, und befahlen ihnen nicht auf den Namen Jesus' zu reden, und entließen sie.
And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 Da zogen sie mit Freude ab aus dem Synedrium, weil sie gewürdigt worden, um des Namens willen beschimpft zu werden.
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 Und sie ließen nicht ab, täglich im Tempel und zu Hause zu lehren, und die frohe Botschaft von Christus Jesus zu verkünden.
And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
