2 Koenige 13
1 Im dreiundzwanzigsten Jahre Jehoas', des Sohnes Ahasjahus, des Königs von Juda, ward Joahas, der Sohn Jehus, König über Israel zu Samaria und regierte siebzehn Jahre.
In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria; he reigned seventeen years.
2 Und er that, was Jahwe mißfiel, und folgte den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte, und ließ nicht davon.
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh and followed the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin; and Jehoahaz did not turn away from them.
3 Da entbrannte der Zorn Jahwes wider Israel, und er gab sie in die Gewalt Hasaels, des Königs von Aram, und Benhadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, die ganze Zeit hindurch.
The anger of Yahweh burned against Israel, and he gave them continually into the hand of Hazael king of Aram and into the hand of Ben Hadad son of Hazael.
4 Aber Joahas besänftigte Jahwe, und Jahwe schenkte ihm Gehör, denn er sah die Bedrängnis Israels, wie sie der König von Aram bedrängte.
So Jehoahaz implored Yahweh, and Yahweh listened to him because he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Aram was oppressing them.
5 Und Jahwe verlieh Israel einen Retter, so daß sie von der Obergewalt Arams frei wurden und die Israeliten in ihren Zelten wohnten, wie vorlängst.
So Yahweh gave Israel a rescuer, and they escaped from the hand of the Arameans, and the people of Israel began to live in their homes as they had before.
6 Nur ließen sie nicht von den Sünden des Hauses Jerobeams, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte; darin wandelten sie. Auch blieb die Aschera zu Samaria stehen.
Nevertheless, they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who caused Israel to sin, and they continued in them; and the Asherah pole remained in Samaria.
7 Denn Jahwe ließ dem Joahas nicht mehr Kriegsvolk übrig, als fünfzig Reiter, zehn Wagen und zehtausend Mann Fußvolks. Denn der König von Aram hatte sie vertilgt und wie zu Staub zermalmt.
The Arameans left Jehoahaz with only fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram had destroyed them and made them like the chaff at threshing time.
8 Was aber sonst noch von Joahas zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, seine tapferen Thaten, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.
As for the other matters concerning Jehoahaz, and all that he did and his power, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel?
9 Und Joahas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn zu Samaria. Und sein Sohn Joas ward König an seiner Statt.
So Jehoahaz slept with his ancestors, and they buried him in Samaria. Johoash his son became king in his place.
10 Im siebenunddreißigsten Jahre Jehoas', des Königs von Juda, ward Joas, der Sohn Joahas', König über Israel zu Samaria und regierte sechzehn Jahre.
In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, the reign of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz began over Israel in Samaria; he reigned sixteen years.
11 Und er that was Jahwe mißfiel; er ließ nicht von allen Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte, sondern wandelte darin.
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh. He did not leave behind any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, by which he had made Israel to sin, but he walked in them.
12 Was aber sonst noch von Joas zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, und seine tapferen Thaten, wie er mit Amazia, dem König von Juda, Krieg geführt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.
As for the other matters concerning Jehoash, and all that he did, and his might by which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel?
13 Und Joas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und Jerobeam bestieg seinen Thron. Joas aber ward zu Samaria bei den Königen von Israel begraben.
Jehoash slept with his ancestors, and Jeroboam sat on his throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Als aber Elisa in die Krankheit verfallen war, an der er sterben sollte, kam Joas, der König von Israel, zu ihm hinab und weinte bei ihm und sprach: Mein Vater, mein Vater! du Israels Wagen und Reiter!
Now Elisha became sick with an illness by which he later died, so Jehoash the king of Israel came down to him and wept over him. He said, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen are taking you away!”
15 Elisa aber sprach zu ihm: Bringe einen Bogen und Pfeile! Da brachte er ihm einen Bogen und Pfeile.
Elisha said to him, “Pick up a bow and some arrows,” so Joash picked up a bow and some arrows.
16 Da sprach er zum Könige von Israel: Lege deine Hand auf den Bogen! Als er das gethan, legte Elisa seine Hände auf des Königs Hände.
Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow,” so he put his hand on it. Then Elisha laid his hands on the king's hands.
17 Dann sprach er: Öffne das Fenster nach Osten zu! Als er es geöffnet hatte, gebot Elisa: Schieße! Da schoß er. Er aber sprach: Ein Pfeil des Sieges vor Jahwe! Ja, ein Pfeil des Sieges über Aram! Sollst du doch zu Aphek die Aramäer schlagen, bis sie vernichtet sind.
Elisha said, “Open the window eastward,” so he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot!”, and he shot. Elisha said, “This is Yahweh's arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram, for you will attack the Arameans in Aphek until you have consumed them.”
18 Sodann gebot er: Nimm die Pfeile! Er nahm sie. Da sprach er zum Könige von Israel: Schlage damit auf die Erde! Da schlug er dreimal, dann hielt er inne.
Then Elisha said, “Take the arrows,” so Joash took them. He said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground with them,” and he struck the ground three times, then stopped.
19 Da ward der Gottesmann über ihn aufgebracht und sprach, du hättest fünf- oder sechsmal schlagen sollen, dann würdest du die Aramäer geschlagen haben, bis sie vernichtet waren; nun aber wirst du die Aramäer nur dreimal schlagen.
But the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have hit the ground five or six times. Then you would have attacked Aram until you annihilated it, but now you will attack Aram only three times.”
20 Elisa aber starb, und man begrub ihn. Es pflegten aber in jenem Jahre die moabitischen Streifscharen ins Land einzubrechen.
Then Elisha died, and they buried him. Now groups of Moabites invaded the land at the beginning of the year.
21 Als sie nun gerade einen Mann begraben wollten, erblickten sie plötzlich eine Streifschar. da warfen sie den Mann in Elisas Gruft und gingen davon. Als aber der Mann die Gebeine Elisas berührte, ward er wieder lebendig und stellte sich auf seine Füße.
As they were burying a certain man, they saw a group of Moabites, so they threw the body into Elisha's grave. As soon as the man touched Elisha's bones, he revived and stood up on his feet.
22 Hasael aber, der König von Aram, bedrängte Israel, so lange Joahas lebte.
Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
23 Doch Jahwe erwies ihnen Gnade und erbarmte sich ihrer und wandte sich ihnen wieder zu, um seines Bundes mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob willen, und wollte ihr Verderben nicht, hatte sie auch bis dahin noch nicht von seinem Angesichte verworfen.
But Yahweh was gracious to Israel, and had compassion on them and concern for them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So Yahweh did not destroy them, and he still has not driven them away from his presence.
24 Als aber Hasael, der König von Aram, gestorben, und sein Sohn Benhadad an seiner Statt König geworden war,
Hazael king of Aram died, and Ben Hadad his son became king in his place.
25 da entriß Joas, der Sohn Joahas', Benhadad, dem Sohne Hasaels, die Städte wieder, die dieser seinem Vater Joahas im Krieg entrissen hatte. Dreimal schlug ihn Joas und gewann so die israelitischen Städte zurück.
Jehoash son of Jehoahaz took back from Ben Hadad son of Hazael the cities that had been taken from Jehoahaz his father by war. Jehoash attacked him three times, and he recovered those cities of Israel.
