2 Chronik 29

1 Hiskia ward König im Alter von fünfundzwanzig Jahren und regierte neunundzwanzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter aber hieß Abija, die Tochter Sacharjas.

Hezekiah [was] a son of twenty-five years [when] he has reigned, and he has reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Abijah daughter of Zechariah;

2 Und er that, was Jahwe wohlgefiel, ganz wie sein Ahnherr David gethan hatte.

and he does that which is right in the eyes of YHWH, according to all that his father David did.

3 Im ersten Monate des ersten Jahres seiner Regierung öffnete er die Thüren des Tempels Jahwes und stellte sie wieder her.

He, in the first year of his reign, in the first month, has opened the doors of the house of YHWH, and strengthens them,

4 Sodann ließ er die Priester und die Leviten kommen und versammelte sie auf dem östlich vom Tempel gelegenen freien Platz.

and brings in the priests and the Levites, and gathers them to the broad place to the east.

5 Da sprach er zu ihnen: Hört mich an, ihr Leviten! Heiligt euch nunmehr und heiligt den Tempel Jahwes, des Gottes eurer Väter, und schafft den Unflat aus dem Heiligtum heraus!

And he says to them, “Hear me, O Levites, now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of YHWH, God of your fathers, and bring out the impurity from the holy place,

6 Denn unsere Väter haben treulos gehandelt, haben gethan, was Jahwe, unserem Gotte, mißfiel, und sind von ihm abgefallen. Sie wandten ihr Angesicht von der Wohnung Jahwes ab und kehrten ihr den Rücken.

for our fathers have trespassed, and done that which is evil in the eyes of our God YHWH, and forsake him, and turn around their faces from the Dwelling Place of YHWH, and give the neck.

7 Dazu haben sie die Thüren der Vorhalle geschlossen, die Lampen ausgelöscht, kein Räucherwerk mehr angezündet und dem Gott Israels kein Brandopfer mehr im Heiligtume dargebracht.

They have also shut the doors of the porch, and quench the lamps, and they have not made incense, and have not caused burnt-offering to ascend in the holy place to the God of Israel,

8 Daher kam der grimmige Zorn Jahwes über Juda und Jerusalem, und er machte sie zu einem Schreckbild, einem Gegenstande des Entsetzens und des Gezisches, wie ihr es mit eignen Augen seht.

and the wrath of YHWH is on Judah and Jerusalem, and He gives them for a trembling, for an astonishment, and for a hissing, as you are seeing with your eyes.

9 Nun wohl, unsere Väter sind durchs Schwert gefallen, und unsere Söhne, Töchter und Frauen sind um deswillen in der Gefangenschaft.

And behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons, and our daughters, and our wives [are] in captivity for this.

10 Nun bin ich entschlossen, gegen Jahwe, den Gott Israels, eine feierliche Verpflichtung einzugehen, damit sein grimmiger Zorn von uns ablasse.

Now [it is] with my heart to make a covenant before YHWH, God of Israel, and the fierceness of His anger turns back from us.

11 So zeigt euch nun nicht lässig, meine Kinder! Denn euch hat Jahwe erwählt, daß ihr vor ihm stehen sollt, um ihn zu bedienen, und daß ihr ihm Diener seiet und ihm räuchert.

My sons, do not be at rest now, for YHWH has fixed on you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and to be ministering and making incense to Him.”

12 Da machten sich die Leviten auf, Mahath, der Sohn Amasais, und Joel, der Sohn Asarjas, von den Kahathitern; und von den Meraritern: Kis, der Sohn Abdis, und Asarja, der Sohn Jehalleleels; von den Gersoniten: Joah, der Sohn Simmas, und Eden, der Sohn Joahs;

And the Levites rise—Mahath son of Amasai, and Joel son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathite; and of the sons of Merari: Kish son of Abdi, and Azariah son of Jehalelel; and of the Gershonite: Joah son of Zimmah, and Eden son of Joah;

13 von den Nachkommen Elizaphans: Simri und Jeïel; von den Nachkommen Asaphs: Sacharja und Mattanja;

and of the sons of Elizaphan: Shimri and Jeiel; and of the sons of Asaph: Zechariah and Mattaniah;

14 von den Nachkommen Hemans: Jehïel und Simei; von den Nachkommen Jeduthuns: Semaja und Ussiel.

and of the sons of Heman: Jehiel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun: Shemaiah and Uzziel—

15 Diese versammelten ihre Stammesgenossen, heiligten sich und kamen dann, um nach dem Befehle des Königs den Tempel gemäß den Vorschriften Jahwes zu reinigen.

and they gather their brothers, and sanctify themselves, and come in, according to the command of the king in the matters of YHWH, to cleanse the house of YHWH,

16 Die Priester aber begaben sich ins Innere des Tempels Jahwes, um es zu reinigen, und schafften alle Unreinigkeit, die sie in der Halle Jahwes vorfanden, hinaus in den Vorhof des Tempels Jahwes, und die Leviten nahmen es in Empfange, um es hinaus an den Kidronbach zu schaffen.

and the priests come into the inner part of the house of YHWH to cleanse [it], and bring out all the uncleanness that they have found in the temple of YHWH to the court of the house of YHWH, and the Levites receive [it], to take [it] out to the Brook of Kidron outside.

17 Und zwar begannen sie mit der Heiligung am ersten Tage des ersten Monats, und am achten Tage waren sie bis zur Vorhalle Jahwes gelangt; sodann heiligten sie den Tempel Jahwes innerhalb acht Tagen und am sechzehnten Tage des ersten Monats waren sie fertig.

And they begin to sanctify on the first of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they have come to the porch of YHWH, and they sanctify the house of YHWH in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they have finished.

18 Da gingen sie hinein zum König Hiskia und meldeten: Wir haben den ganzen Tempel Jahwes gereinigt, dazu auch den Brandopferaltar samt allen seinen Geräten und den Tisch für die reihenweise aufgelegten Brote samt allen seinen Geräten.

And they come in to Hezekiah the king within, and say, “We have cleansed all the house of YHWH, and the altar of the burnt-offering, and all its vessels, and the table of the arrangement, and all its vessels,

19 Alle die Geräte aber, die der König Ahas während seiner Regierung infolge seines Abfalls verächtlich bei Seite geworfen hatte, haben wir wieder aufgestellt und geweiht; dort stehen sie vor dem Altar Jahwes!

and all the vessels that King Ahaz cast away in his reign—in his trespass—we have prepared and sanctified, and behold, they [are] before the altar of YHWH.”

20 Frühmorgens nun versammelte der König Hiskia alle Obersten der Stadt und begab sich hinauf zum Tempel Jahwes.

And Hezekiah the king rises early, and gathers the heads of the city, and goes up to the house of YHWH;

21 Da brachte man sieben Farren, sieben Widder und sieben Lämmer; dazu sieben Ziegenböcke zum Sündopfer für das Königreich und für das Heiligtum und für Juda. Und er gebot den Nachkommen Aarons, den Priestern, sie auf dem Altar Jahwes darzubringen.

and they bring in seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven young male goats, for a sin-offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah; and he commands to sons of Aaron, the priests, to cause [them] to ascend on the altar of YHWH.

22 Da schlachteten sie die Rinder, und die Priester fingen das Blut auf und sprengten es an den Altar. Sodann schlachteten sie die Widder und sprengten das Blut an den Altar.

And they slaughter the oxen, and the priests receive the blood, and sprinkle on the altar; and they slaughter the rams, and sprinkle the blood on the altar; and they slaughter the lambs, and sprinkle the blood on the altar;

23 Hierauf brachten sie die Sündopferböcke herzu vor den König und die Versammlung, und sie stemmten ihre Hände auf sie.

and they bring the male goats of the sin-offering near before the king and the assembly, and they lay their hands on them;

24 Sodann schlachteten sie die Priester und brachten ihr Blut zur Entsündigung an den Altar, um ganz Israel Sühne zu schaffen; denn für ganz Israel hatte der König das Brandopfer und das Sündopfer befohlen.

and the priests slaughter them, and make a sin-offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel, that “For all Israel,” said the king, “[is] the burnt-offering and the sin-offering.”

25 Und er stellte die Leviten am Tempel Jahwes auf mit Cymbeln, Harfen und Zithern, nach der Anordnung Davids und Gads, des Sehers des Königs, und des Propheten Nathan. Denn die Anordnung war durch Jahwe, durch seine Propheten, ergangen.

And he appoints the Levites in the house of YHWH with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, by the command of David, and of Gad, seer of the king, and of Nathan the prophet, for the command [is] by the hand of YHWH, by the hand of His prophets;

26 So standen denn die Leviten da mit den Musikinstrumenten Davids und die Priester mit Trompeten.

and the Levites stand with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

27 Da gebot Hiskia, das Brandopfer auf den Altar zu bringen; und sobald das Brandopfer begann, begannen auch die Jahwelieder und die Trompeten, und zwar nach Anleitung der Instrumente Davids, des Königs von Israel.

And Hezekiah commands to cause the burnt-offering to ascend on the altar; and at the time the burnt-offering began, the song of YHWH began, and the trumpets, and with [the] hands of [the] instruments of David king of Israel.

28 Die ganze Versammlung aber warf sich nieder; der Gesang ertönte, und die Trompeten schmetterten, - das alles, bis das Brandopfer vollendet war.

And all the assembly are worshiping, and the singers singing, and the trumpeters blowing; the whole [is] until the completion of the burnt-offering.

29 Und als man mit der Darbringung des Opfers zu Ende war, beugten der König und alle, die mit ihm zugegen waren, die Kniee und warfen sich nieder.

And at the completion of the offering up, the king and all those found with him have bowed, and pay respect.

30 Sodann geboten der König Hiskia und die Obersten der Leviten, Jahwe den Lobgesang anzustimmen mit den Worten Davids und des Sehers Asaph. Da sangen sie den Lobpreis mit Freuden und verneigten sich und warfen sich nieder.

And Hezekiah the king commands—and the princes—to the Levites [to cause them] to give praise to YHWH in the words of David, and of Asaph the seer, and they praise—to joy, and they bow, and pay respect.

31 Hierauf hob Hiskia an und sprach: Jetzt habt ihr euch aufs Neue Jahwe geweiht; tretet herzu und bringt Schlachtopfer und Dankopfer zum Tempel Jahwes! Da brachte die Versammlung Schlachtopfer und Dankopfer und jeder, den sein Herz dazu trieb, Brandopfer.

And Hezekiah answers and says, “Now you have filled your hand for YHWH, come near, and bring in sacrifices and thank-offerings to the house of YHWH”; and the assembly brings in sacrifices and thank-offerings, and every willing-hearted one—burnt-offerings.

32 Es betrug aber die Zahl der Brandopfer, welche die Versammlung brachte: siebzig Rinder, hundert Widder und zweihundert Lämmer; diese alle als Brandopfer für Jahwe.

And the number of the burnt-offerings that the assembly has brought in is seventy oxen, one hundred rams, [and] two hundred lambs; for all these [are] a burnt-offering to YHWH.

33 Und die Dankopfer betrugen sechshundert Rinder und dreitausend Schafe.

And the sanctified things [are] six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

34 Nur waren der Priester zu wenige, so daß sie nicht allen Brandopfern die Haut abziehen konnten; da halfen ihnen ihre Stammesgenossen, die Leviten, bis das Geschäft zu Ende war, und die Priester sich heiligten; denn die Leviten waren redlich darauf bedacht, sich zu heiligen, - mehr als die Priester.

Only, the priests have become few, and have not been able to strip the whole of the burnt-offerings, and their brothers the Levites strengthen them until the completion of the work, and until the priests sanctify themselves, for the Levites [are] more upright of heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

35 Dazu gab es Brandopfer in Menge samt den Fettstücken der Heilsopfer und den Trankopfern zu den Brandopfern. So war der Opferdienst am Tempel Jahwes hergestellt.

And also, burnt-offerings [are] in abundance, with fat of the peace-offerings, and with oblations for the burnt-offering; and the service of the house of YHWH is established,

36 Hiskia aber und das ganze Volk freuten sich über das, was Gott dem Volke bereitet hatte; denn die Sache war mit einem Male vor sich gegangen.

and Hezekiah and all the people rejoice because of God’s giving preparation to the people, for the thing has been suddenly.
