1 Samuel 29

1 Die Philister zogen also ihren ganzen HZeerbann nach Aphek zusammen, während Israel sich an der Quelle bei Jesreel gelagert hatte.

And the Philistines gather all their camps to Aphek, and the Israelites are encamping at a fountain which [is] in Jezreel,

2 Als nun die Fürsten der Philister mit ihren Hunderten und Tausenden einherzogen, und zuletzt auch david mit seinen Leuten bei Achis einherzog,

and the princes of the Philistines are passing on by hundreds, and by thousands, and David and his men are passing on in the rear with Achish.

3 riefen die Philisterfürsten: Was sollen diese Hebräer? Achis entgegnete den Philisterfürsten: das ist ja david aus der Umgebung des Königs saul von Israel, der nun schon zwei Jahre bei mir weilt, ohne daß ich seit dem Tage, da er zu mir überging, bis heute das Geringste an ihm gefunden hätte.

And the heads of the Philistines say, 'What [are] these Hebrews?' and Achish saith unto the heads of the Philistines, 'Is not this David servant of Saul king of Israel, who hath been with me these days or these years, and I have not found in him anything [wrong] from the day of his falling away till this day.'

4 Aber die Philisterfürsten wurden unmutig über ihn, und so verlangten die Philisterfürsten von ihm: Schicke den Mann zurück! Er soll wieder an seinen Ort gehen, den du ihm angewiesen hast, und nicht mit uns in die Schlacht ziehen, damit er nicht in der schlacht zum Verräter an uns werde! Womit könnte sich der die Gunst seines Herrn besser wieder erwerben, als mit den Köpfen unserer Leute?

And the heads of the Philistines are wroth against him, and the heads of the Philistines say to him, 'Send back the man, and he doth turn back unto his place whither thou hast appointed him, and doth not go down with us into battle, and is not to us for an adversary in battle; and wherewith doth this one reconcile himself unto his lord — is it not with the heads of those men?'

5 Ist das nicht der David, dem zu Ehren man im Reigen sang: Saul hat seine Tausende geschlagen, David seine Zehntausende?

Is not this David, of whom they answer in choruses, saying, Saul hath smitten among his thousands, and David among his myriads?'

6 Da ließ Achis David rufen und sprach zu ihm: Sowahr Jahwe lebt! du bist redlich, und mir ist es erwünscht, daß du im Heerlager mit mir aus- und einziehst, denn ich habe an dir nichts Unrechtes finden können, seit du zu mir kamst, bis auf den heutigen Tag; - aber den Fürsten bist du nicht genehm.

And Achish calleth unto David, and saith unto him, 'Jehovah liveth, surely thou [art] upright, and good in mine eyes is thy going out, and thy coming in, with me in the camp, for I have not found in thee evil from the day of thy coming in unto me till this day; and in the eyes of the princes thou art not good;

7 So gehe denn friedlich heim, damit du nicht etwas den Fürsten der Philister Mißfälliges thust!

and now, turn back, and go in peace, and thou dost do no evil in the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.'

8 David erwiderte Achis: Was habe ich denn gethan? Was hast du an deinem Sklaven gefunden, seitdem ich in deinen Dienst getreten bin bis zum heutigen Tage, daß ich gegen die feinde meines königlichen Herrn nicht in den Kampf ziehen soll?

And David saith unto Achish, 'But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant from the day that I have been before thee till this day — that I go not in and have fought against the enemies of my lord the king?'

9 Achis gab David zur Antwort: Ich weiß, daß du mir so lieb bist wie ein Engel Gottes; nur verlangen die Fürsten der Philister: Er darf nicht mit uns in die Schlacht ziehen!

And Achish answereth and saith unto David, 'I have known that thou [art] good in mine eyes as a messenger of God; only, the princes of the Philistines have said, He doth not go up with us into battle;

10 So mache dich denn morgen samt den Unterthanen deines Herrn, die mit dir hergekommen sind, in aller frühe auf und marschiert an den Ort, den ich euch angewiesen habe, und denke nicht schlimm von mir, denn du bist mir lieb, - macht euch also morgen in aller Frühe auf, daß ihr, sobald es Tag wird, abmarschieren könnt!

and now, rise thou early in the morning, and the servants of thy lord who have come with thee, when ye have risen early in the morning, and have light, then go ye.'

11 So machte sich denn David mit seinen Leuten am Morgen in aller Frühe auf den Rückweg ins Philisterland, während die Philister nach Jesreel marschierten.

And David riseth early, he and his men, to go in the morning, to turn back unto the land of the Philistines, and the Philistines have gone up to Jezreel.
