1 Samuel 27
1 David aber sagte sich selbst: Nun werde ich eines Tages durch Sauls Hand hingerafft werden: es nützt mir nichts, als daß ich thatsächlich ins Philisterland entrinne; dann giebt Saul es auf, noch länger im ganzen Gebiet Israels auf mich zu fahnden, und ich bin aus seinen Händen entronnen.
And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me to seek me any more within all the limits of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.
2 So machte sich David auf und ging mit den 600 Mann, die er um sich hatte, zu Achis, dem Sohne Maochs, dem Könige von Gath, über.
And David arose and passed over, he and the six hundred men that were with him, to Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
3 Und David blieb samt seinen Leutenbei Achis in Gath, jeder mit seiner Familie; David mit seinen beiden Frauen: Ahinoam aus Jesreel und Abigail, dem Weibe des Karmeliters Nabal.
And David abode with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household; David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jizreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.
4 Als nun Saul die Meldung empfing, David sei nach Gath geflohen, gab er es auf, noch länger auf ihn zu fahnden.
And it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath; and he sought no more for him.
5 David aber bat Achis: Wenn du mir irgend gewogen bist, so würdest du mir vielleicht einen Platz in einer der Landstädte zum Aufenthalt anweisen lassen; wozu doch soll dein Sklave bei dir in der Hauptstadt wohnen?
And David said to Achish, If now I have found favour in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some country-town, that I may abide there; for why should thy servant abide in the royal city with thee?
6 Da wies ihm Achis noch an demselben Tage Ziklag an; infolgedessen gehört Ziklag den Königen von Juda bis auf den heutigen Tag.
And Achish gave him Ziklag that day; therefore Ziklag belongs to the kings of Judah to this day.
7 Die Zeit, welche David im Landgebiete der Philister zubrachte, betrug ein Jahr und vier Monate.
And the time that David abode in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months.
8 Und David zog mit seinen Leuten hinauf, und sie brachen bei den Gesuritern, den Gisritern und den Amalekitern ein; denn das sind die Bewohnerschaften des Landes, welches sich von Telam bis nach Sur und bis nach Ägypten erstreckt.
And David and his men went up and made a raid upon the Geshurites, and the Gerzites, and the Amalekites: for those were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, and as far as the land of Egypt.
9 Und wenn David ein solches Gebiet überfiel, ließ er weder Mann noch Weib am Leben, nahm Schafe, Rinder, Esel, Kamele und gewänder weg und kehrte so zu Achis zurück.
And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
10 Fragte dann Achis: Wo seid ihr heute eingebrochen? so antwortete David: Im Südlande von Juda, oder: Im Südlande der Jerahmeeliter, oder: Im Südlande der Keniter!
So Achish said, Have ye not made a raid to-day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.
11 David ließ aber weder Mann noch Weib leben und nach Gath kommen, in der Erwägung: Sie könnten gegen uns zeugen und berichten: So hat david gehandelt! Dieses Verfahren übte er so lange er sich im Landgebiete der Philister aufhielt.
And David left neither man nor woman alive, to bring [them] to Gath, for he said, Lest they should tell of us, saying, So did David. And such was his custom as long as he abode in the country of the Philistines.
12 So schenkte Achis David Vertrauen in der Überzeugung: Er ist bei seinen Landsleuten in Israel in Verruf gekommen und so wird er für immer in meinem Dienst bleiben.
And Achish trusted David, saying, He has made himself utterly odious among his people Israel; and he shall be my servant for ever.
