1 Samuel 24
1 Als nun saul von seinem Zuge gegen die Philister zurückgekehrt war, meldete man ihm: David befindet sich jetzt in der Wüste Engedi.
When Saul was turned from ye Philistims, they told him, saying, Behold, Dauid is in the wildernes of En-gedi.
2 Da nahm Saul 3000 aus ganz Israel auserlesene Leute und machte sich auf den Weg, David und seine Leute auf der Vorderseite der Steinbockfelsen zu suchen.
Then Saul tooke three thousande chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seeke Dauid and his men vpon the rocks among the wilde goates.
3 Er gelangte zu den Schafhürden am Wege. Dort befand sich eine Höhle. Saul trat ein, um seine Notdurft zu verrichten, während david sich mit seinen Leuten im Innern der Höhle niedergelassen hatte.
And hee came to the sheepecoates by the way where there was a caue, and Saul went in to do his easement: and Dauid and his men sate in the inward parts of the caue.
4 Davids Leute aber redeten ihm zu: Das ist nun der Tag, von dem Jahwe dir gesagt hat: Ich liefere dir noch einmal deinen Feind in die Hände, daß du mit ihm verfahren kannst, wie es dir gut dünkt! Da stand David auf und schnitt von dem Mantel, den Saul trug, heimlich einen Zipfel ab.
And the men of Dauid said vnto him, See, the day is come, whereof the Lord sayde vnto thee, Beholde, I will deliuer thine enemie into thine hande, and thou shalt doe to him as it shall seeme good to thee. Then Dauid arose and cut off the lap of Sauls garment priuily.
5 Nachher aber schlug David das Gewissen darüber, daß er den Zipfel von Sauls Mantel abgeschnitten hatte,
And afterward Dauid was touched in his heart, because he had cut off the lappe which was on Sauls garment.
6 und er sagte zu seinen Leuten: Gott strafe mich, wenn ich gegen meinen Herrn, den Gesalbten Jahwes, so etwas verüben sollte, daß ich Hand an ihn legte, denn er ist der Gesalbte Jahwes!
And he said vnto his men, The Lord keepe mee from doing that thing vnto my master the Lords Anoynted, to lay mine hand vpon him: for he is the Anoynted of the Lord.
7 Und David richtete seine Leute mit Scheltworten übel zu und erlaubte ihnen nicht, Saul ein Leid zu thun. Als sich aber Saul aus der Höhle erhoben hatte und seines Weges weiterging,
So Dauid ouercame his seruants with these words, and suffered them not to arise against Saul: so Saul rose vp out of the caue and went away.
8 machte sich David auf hinter ihm her, verließ die Höhle und rief Saul nach: Mein Herr König! Da sah sich Saul um; Davis aber warf sich mit dem Angesicht zur Erde nieder und huldigte ihm.
Dauid also arose afterward, and went out of the caue, and cryed after Saul, saying, O my lorde the King. And when Saul looked behinde him, Dauid inclined his face to the earth, and bowed himselfe.
9 Dann rief David saul zu: Warum hörst du auf das Gerede der Leute, die da sagen: David sinnt auf dein Verderben? Am heutigen Tage hast du ja mit eigenen Augen gesehen, wie dich Jahwe heute in der Höhle mir in die Hände gegeben hat.
And Dauid saide to Saul, Wherefore giuest thou an eare to mens words, that say, Behold, Dauid seeketh euill against thee?
10 Man sprach mir zu, dich niederzustoßen, aber ich schonte deiner und dachte, ich will nicht Hand an meinen Herrn legen, denn er ist der Gesalbte Jahwes!
Behold, this day thine eyes haue seene, that the Lord had deliuered thee this day into mine hand in the caue, and some bade me kill thee, but I had compassion on thee, and said, I will not lay mine hande on my master: for he is the Lordes Anoynted.
11 Aber bitte, sieh, ja sieh den Zipfel deines Mantels in meiner Hand! Daran, daß ich den Zipfel deines Mantels abschnitt, ohne dich niederzustoßen, magst du genugsam erkennen, daß ich nicht Bosheit und Verrat im Schilde führe und mich an dir nicht vergangen habe. Du aber trachtest darnach, mir das Leben zu nehmen.
Moreouer my father, behold: behold, I say, the lappe of thy garment in mine hand: for when I cut off the lappe of thy garment, I killed thee not. Vnderstad and see, that there is neither euil nor wickednesse in mee, neither haue I sinned against thee, yet thou huntest after my soule to take it.
12 Jahwe soll zwischen uns beiden entscheiden, Jahwe mich an dir rächen, aber meine hand soll sich nicht gegen dich wenden.
The Lord be iudge betweene thee and me, and the Lord auenge me of thee, and let not mine hand be vpon thee.
13 Wie das alte Wort sagt: Von Frevlern kommt Frevel, - aber meine Hand soll sich nicht gegen dich wenden.
According as the olde prouerbe sayeth, Wickednesse proceedeth from the wicked, but mine hand be not vpon thee.
14 Zu wessen Verfolgung ist König Israels ausgezogen? Wem jagst du nach? Einem toten Hund, einem einzelnen Floh!
After whom is the King of Israel come out? after whome doest thou pursue? after a dead dog, and after a flea?
15 So sei denn Jahwe Richter und entscheide zwischen uns beiden und sehe darein, führe meine Sache und schaffe mir recht vor dir!
The Lord therfore be iudge, and iudge betweene thee and me, and see, and pleade my cause, and deliuer me out of thine hand.
16 Als nun david mit dieser Anrede an Saul zu Ende war, rief Saul: Ist das nicht deine Stimme, mein Sohn David? Und Saul hob laut zu weinen an
Whe Dauid had made an end of speaking these words to Saul, Saul sayd, Is this thy voyce, my sonne Dauid? and Saul lift vp his voice, and wept,
17 und sprach zu David: Du bist in deinem rechte gegen mich: du hast mir Gutes erwiesen, während ich dir Böses erwies,
And sayd to Dauid, Thou art more righteous then I: for thou hast rendred me good, and I haue rendred thee euill.
18 und zwar hast du heute noch vermehrt, was du gutes an mir thatest, indem du mich nicht niedergestoßen hast, obwohl Jahwe mich dir in die Hände lieferte.
And thou hast shewed this day, that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the Lord had closed me in thine hands, thou killedst me not.
19 Wenn jemand auf seinen Feind trifft, läßt er ihn da wohl friedlich seines Weges ziehen? Aber Jahwe wird dir diesen Tag mit Güte vergelten, an dem du mir zu gut gehandelt hast!
For who shall finde his enemie, and let him depart free? wherefore the Lord render thee good for that thou hast done vnto me this day.
20 Nun, ich weiß ja, daß du König werden wirst, und daß in deiner Hand das Königtum über Israel Bestand haben wird:
For now behold, I know that thou shalt be King, and that the kingdome of Israel shall be stablished in thine hand.
21 so schwöre mir denn bei Jahwe, daß du meine nachkommenschaft nicht ausrotten und meinen Namen aus meinem Geschlechte nicht austilgen willst!
Sweare now therfore vnto me by the Lord, that thou wilt not destroy my seede after me, and that thou wilt not abolish my name out of my fathers house.
22 David schwur es Saul, dann zog Saul heim, David aber stieg mit seinen Leuten auf die Berghöhe.
So Dauid sware vnto Saul, and Saul went home: but Dauid and his men went vp vnto ye hold.
