1 Nach diesen Begebenheiten aber ereignete sich Folgendes: Der Jesreeliter Naboth besaß einen Weinberg, der zu Jesreel neben dem Palaste Ahabs, des Königs von Samaria, lag.
After these things Naboth the Izreelite had a vineyarde in Izreel, hard by the palace of Ahab King of Samaria.
2 Und Ahab redete also zu Naboth: Tritt mir deinen Weinberg ab, damit er mir als Gemüsegarten diene, weil er so nahe bei meinem Palaste liegt. Ich will dir aber einen besseren Weinberg dafür geben oder, wenn dir's recht ist, will ich dir den Kaufpreis für diesen in Geld erstatten.
And Ahab spake vnto Naboth, saying, Giue me thy vineyarde, that I may make mee a garden of herbes thereof, because it is neere by mine house: and I will giue thee for it a better vineyarde then it is: or if it please thee, I will giue thee the worth of it in money.
3 Naboth aber erwiderte Ahab: Bewahre mich Jahwe davor, daß ich dir das Erbe meiner Väter abtreten sollte!
And Naboth said to Ahab, The Lord keepe me from giuing the inheritance of my father vnto thee.
4 Da kam Ahab in seinen Palast, mißmutig und zornig um der Antwort willen, die ihm der Jesreeliter Naboth gegeben hatte, indem er sprach: Ich mag dir das Erbe meiner Väter nicht abtreten! Und er legte sich auf sein Bette, wandte sein Angesicht ab und nahm keine Speise zu sich.
Then Ahab came into his house heauie and in displeasure, because of the word which Naboth the Izreelite had spoken vnto him. for hee had sayde, I will not giue thee the inheritance of my fathers, and he lay vpon his bed, and turned his face and would eate no bread.
5 Da trat seine Gemahlin Isebel zu ihm ein und redete ihn an: Warum bist du doch so mißmutig gestimmt und nimmst keine Speise zu dir?
Then Iezebel his wife came to him and said vnto him, Why is thy spirit so sad that thou eatest no bread?
6 Er antwortete ihr: Rede ich da mit dem Jesreeliter Naboth und sage ihm: Tritt mir deinen Weinberg ab für Geld, oder ich will dir, wenn du das lieber hast, einen anderen dafür geben - da spricht er: Ich mag dir meinen Weinberg nicht abtreten!
And he said vnto her, Because I spake vnto Naboth the Izreelite, and sayd vnto him, Giue me thy vineyard for money, or if it please thee, I will giue thee another vineyard for it: but he answered, I wil not giue thee my vineyarde.
7 Da erwiderte ihm seine Gemahlin Isebel: Übst du jetzt Königsgewalt in Israel aus? Steh auf, nimm Speise zu dir und sei guter Dinge. Den Weinberg des Jesreeliters Naboth will ich dir verschaffen!
Then Iezebel his wife sayde vnto him, Doest thou nowe gouerne the kingdome of Israel? vp, eate bread, and be of good cheere, I will giue thee the vineyard of Naboth the Izreelite.
8 Hierauf schrieb sie in Ahabs Namen einen Brief, untersiegelte ihn mit seinem Siegel und sandte den Brief an die Edlen und Vornehmen, die in seiner Stadt waren, die mit Naboth zusammen wohnten.
So she wrote letters in Ahabs name, and sealed them with his seale, and sent the letters vnto the Elders, and to the nobles that were in his citie dwelling with Naboth.
9 In dem Brief aber schrieb sie Folgendes: Laßt ein Fasten ausrufen und Naboth unter den Leuten obenan sitzen
And shee wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaime a fast, and set Naboth among the chiefe of the people,
10 und setzt ihm zwei nichtswürdige Buben gegenüber, daß sie wider ihn zeugen und sprechen: Du hast Gott und dem Könige geflucht! Alsdann führt ihn hinaus und steinigt ihn zu Tode!
And set two wicked men before him, and let them witnesse against him, saying, Thou diddest blaspheme God and the King: then cary him out, and stone him that he may dye.
11 Und die Männer in seiner Stadt, die Vornehmen und Edlen, die in seiner Stadt wohnten, thaten, wie ihnen Isebel entboten hatte, wie in dem Briefe geschrieben stand, den sie ihnen übersandt hatte:
And the men of his citie, euen the Elders and gouernours, which dwelt in his citie, did as Iezebel had sent vnto them: as it was written in the letters, which she had sent vnto them.
12 Sie riefen ein Fasten aus und setzten Naboth unter den Leuten obenan.
They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth among the chiefe of the people,
13 Da kamen die beiden nichtswürdigen Buben und setzten sich ihm gegenüber, und die nichtswürdigen Menschen zeugten wider Naboth, angesichts des Volks und sprachen: Naboth hat Gott und dem Könige geflucht! Hierauf führten sie ihn hinaus vor die Stadt und steinigten ihn zu Tode.
And there came two wicked men, and sate before him: and the wicked men witnessed against Naboth in the presence of the people saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the King. Then they caried him away out of the citie, and stoned him with stones, that he dyed.
14 Dann aber ließen sie der Isebel entbieten: Naboth wurde gesteinigt und ist tot!
Then they sent to Iezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned and is dead.
15 Sobald aber Isebel vernahm, daß Naboth gesteinigt und tot sei, sprach sie zu Ahab: Auf! nimm den Weinberg des Jesreeliters Naboth, den er für Geld nicht abtreten wollte, in Besitz; denn Naboth lebt nicht mehr, sondern ist tot!
And when Iezebel heard that Naboth was stoned and was dead, Iezebel sayd to Ahab, Vp, and take possession of the vineyarde of Naboth the Izreelite, which he refused to giue thee for money: for Naboth is not aliue, but is dead.
16 Sobald nun Ahab vernahm, daß Naboth tot sei, machte er sich auf, um zu dem Weinberge des Jesreeliters Naboth hinabzuziehen, um ihn in Besitz zu nehmen.
And when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he rose to go downe to the vineyard of Naboth the Izreelite, to take possession of it.
17 Es erging aber das Wort Jahwes an Elia, den Thisbiter, also:
And the word of the Lord came vnto Eliiah the Tishbite, saying,
18 Mache dich auf, gehe hinab und tritt vor Ahab, den König von Israel, der zu Samaria wohnt - er befindet sich eben im Weinberge Naboths, wohin er hinabgezogen ist, um ihn in Besitz zu nehmen, -
Arise, goe downe to meete Ahab King of Israel, which is in Samaria. loe, he is in the vineyarde of Naboth, whither he is gone downe to take possession of it.
19 und sprich zu ihm also: So spricht Jahwe: Hast du gemordet und nun auch die Erbschaft angetreten? Und sprich weiter zu ihm also: So spricht Jahwe: An der Stätte, wo die Hunde ds Blut Naboths geleckt haben, sollen die Hunde auch dein Blut lecken!
Therefore shalt thou say vnto him, Thus sayth the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also gotten possession? And thou shalt speake vnto him, saying, Thus sayth the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, shall dogs licke euen thy blood also.
20 Ahab antwortete Elia: Hast du mich gefunden, mein Feind? Er aber sprach: Jawohl! Weil du dich dazu hergegeben hast, zu thun, was Jahwe mißfällt,
And Ahab sayd to Eliiah, Hast thou found mee, O mine enemie? And he answered, I haue found thee: for thou hast solde thy selfe to worke wickednes in the sight of the Lord.
21 so will ich nunmehr Unglück über dich bringen und dich wegfegen und will von Ahab ausrotten alles, was an die Wand pißt, Unmündige wie Mündige in Israel.
Beholde, I will bring euill vpon thee, and wil take away thy posteritie, and wil cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, as well him that is shut vp, as him that is left in Israel,
22 Und ich will mit deinem Hause verfahren, wie mit dem Hause Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, und dem Hause Baesas, des Sohnes Ahias, um des Ingrimms willen, den du erregt, und daß du Israel zur Sünde verführt hast.
And I wil make thine house like the house of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the sonne of Ahiiah, for the prouocation wherewith thou hast prouoked, and made Israel to sinne.
23 Auch über Isebel that Jahwe einen Ausspruch und zwar also: Die Hunde sollen Isebel fressen auf der Flur von Jesreel.
And also of Iezebel spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eate Iezebel, by the wall of Izreel.
24 Wer von Ahab in der Stadt stirbt, den sollen die Hunde fressen; wer aber draußen im Freien stirbt, den sollen die Vögel unter dem Himmel fressen.
The dogs shall eate him of Ahabs stocke, that dyeth in the citie: and him that dyeth in the fieldes, shall the foules of the ayre eate.
25 Es hat schlechterdings niemanden gegeben, der sich so dazu hergegeben hätte, das Jahwe Mißfällige zu thun, wie Ahab, den sein Weib Isebel dazu verleitete.
(But there was none like Ahab, who did fell him selfe, to worke wickednesse in the sight of the Lord: whom Iezebel his wife prouoked.
26 Und er handelte über die Maßen abscheulich, indem er den Götzen nachwandelte, ganz wie die Amoriter gethan hatten, die Jahwe vor den Israeliten ausgetrieben hatte.
For he did exceeding abominably in following idoles, according to all that the Amorites did, whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.)
27 Als aber Ahab diese Worte hörte, zerriß er seine Kleider, legte ein härenes Gewand um seinen bloßen Leib und fastete; und er schlief in dem härenen Gewand und schlich still umher.
Nowe when Ahab heard those wordes, he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth vpon him and fasted, and lay in sackecloth and went softely.
28 Da erging das Wort Jahwes an Elia, den Thisbiter, also:
And the worde of the Lord came to Eliiah the Tishbite, saying,
29 Hast du bemerkt, daß sich Ahab vor mir gedemütigt hat? Weil er sich nun vor mir gedemütigt hat, will ich das Unglück nicht bei seinen Lebzeiten hereinbrechen lassen; aber bei Lebzeiten seines Sohnes will ich das Unglück über sein Haus hereinbrechen lassen!
Seest thou how Ahab is humbled before me? because he submitteth himselfe before me, I will not bring that euill in his dayes, but in his sonnes dayes wil I bring euill vpon his house.
