1 Chronik 17
1 Als nun David in seinem Palaste wohnte, sprach David einst zum Propheten Nathan: Ich wohne nun im Cedernpalaste, während die Lade mit dem Gesetze Jahwes unter Zelttüchern weilt!
And it came to pass, when David dwelt in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah [dwelleth] under curtains.
2 Nathan erwiderte dem Könige: Was du irgend im Sinne hast, das führe aus, denn Gott ist mit dir!
And Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thy heart; for God is with thee.
3 Aber noch in derselben Nacht erging an Nathan folgender Befehl Gottes:
And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4 Wohlan, sage meinem Knechte David: So spricht Jahwe: Nicht du sollst mir das Haus zur Wohnung bauen!
Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith Jehovah, Thou shalt not build me a house to dwell in:
5 Habe ich doch in keinem Hause gewohnt seit der Zeit, da ich die Israeliten herführte, bis zum heutigen Tage - vielmehr wanderte ich in einer Zeltwohnung umher.
for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, unto this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from [one] tabernacle [to another].
6 Habe ich etwa, solange ich in ganz Israel umherzog, zu einem der Richter Israels, denen ich den Auftrag gab, mein Volk Israel zu weiden, je ein Wort derart gesagt: Warum baut ihr mir keinen Cedernpalast?
In all places wherein I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, Why have ye not built me a house of cedar?
7 So sollst du denn jetzt meinem Knechte David verkünden: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Ich habe dich von der Weide hinter der Herde weggeholt, daß du Fürst über mein Volk Israel werden solltest,
Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be prince over my people Israel:
8 habe dir beigestanden in allem, was du unternommen hast, und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir her vertilgt; und ich will dir einen Namen schaffen gleich dem Namen der Größten auf Erden
and I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast gone, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee; and I will make thee a name, like unto the name of the great ones that are in the earth.
9 und werde meinem Volke Israel eine Stätte anweisen und es da einpflanzen, daß es an seiner Stätte wohnen kann, und gewaltthätige Menschen es nicht mehr aufreiben wie vordem
And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the first,
10 seit der Zeit, da ich Richter über mein Volk Israel bestellt habe, und will alle deine Feinde demütigen. Darum kündige ich dir an, daß Jahwe dir ein Haus bauen wird.
and [as] from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will subdue all thine enemies. Moreover I tell thee that Jehovah will build thee a house.
11 Wenn einst deine Zeit voll ist, daß du hingehst und dich deinen Vätern zugesellst, dann will ich deine Nachkommenschaft, die aus deinem Leibe vohanden sein wird, zu deiner Nachfolge bestimmen und will ihr Königtum bestätigen.
And it shall come to pass, when thy days are fulfilled that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will set up thy seed after thee, who shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12 Sie soll mir ein Haus bauen, und ich will ihren Thron für immer bestätigen.
He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne for ever.
13 Ich will ihr Vater, und sie soll mir Sohn sein, und ich will ihr meine Gnade nicht entziehen, wie ich sie deinem Vorgänger entzogen habe.
I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my lovingkindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee;
14 Vielmehr will ich sie für immer über mein Haus und mein Königtum bestellen, und ihr Thron soll für alle Zeiten Bestand haben!
but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom for ever; and his throne shall be established for ever.
15 Genau diesen Worten und diesem Gesichte gemäß redete denn Nathan zu David.
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.
16 Da ging der König David hinein, setzte sich vor Jahwe nieder und rief: Wer bin ich, Jahwe, o Gott, und was ist mein Haus, daß du mich bis hierher gebracht hast?
Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Jehovah God, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far?
17 Und das genügt dir noch nicht, o Gott, vielmehr hast du deine Zusage auch auf das Haus deines Sklaven erstreckt und zwar auf weit hinaus, und du ließest mich schauen Geschlechter der Menschen, Jahwe, o Gott.
And this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; but thou hast spoken of thy servant’s house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Jehovah God.
18 Aber was soll David noch weiter zu dir sagen? Du selbst kennst ja deinen Sklaven!
What can David [say] yet more unto thee concerning the honor which is done to thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
19 Jahwe, um deines Sklaven willen und deinem Herzen nach thatest du das, daß du deinem Sklaven alles dies Herrliche verkündigest.
O Jehovah, for thy servant’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou wrought all this greatness, to make known all [these] great things.
20 Jahwe, niemand ist dir gleich und kein Gott außer dir nach alle dem, was wir mit eigenen Ohren gehört haben.
O Jehovah, there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21 Und wo gleicht auf Erden deinem Volke Israel ein anderes Volk, das ein Gott sich zum Volke zu erkaufen gegangen wäre, sowie ihm einen Namen zu schaffen, ihnen Großes und Furchtbares zu erweisen, vor seinem Volk ein anderes Volk und seinen Gott zu vertreiben?
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem unto himself for a people, to make thee a name by great and terrible things, in driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou redeemedst out of Egypt?
22 Aber du hast dein Volk Israel für alle Zeiten zu deinem Volke bestimmt und du, Jahwe, bist ihr Gott geworden.
For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, Jehovah, becamest their God.
23 Aber nun, Jahwe, möge sich die Zusage, die du in betreff deines Sklaven und seines Hauses gegeben hast, für alle Zeiten giltig erweisen, und thue, wie du geredet hast.
And now, O Jehovah, let the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, be established for ever, and do as thou hast spoken.
24 Dann wird sich dein Name treu erweisen und für alle Zeiten berühmt sein und lauten: Jahwe der Heerscharen, Israels Gott, und das Haus deines Sklaven David wird vor dir Bestand haben.
And let thy name be established and magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and the house of David thy servant is established before thee.
25 Denn du, mein Gott, hast deinem Sklaven die Eröffnung gemacht, daß du ihm ein Haus bauen wolltest; darum hat dein Sklave sich ein Herz gefaßt, dieses Gebet dir vorzutragen.
For thou, O my God, hast revealed to thy servant that thou wilt build him a house: therefore hath thy servant found [in his heart] to pray before thee.
26 Nun denn, Jahwe, du bist Gott: nachdem du deinem Sklaven diese herrliche Zusage gemacht hast, -
And now, O Jehovah, thou art God, and hast promised this good thing unto thy servant:
27 nun denn, laß es dir gefallen und segne das Haus deines Sklaven, daß es für immer vor dir bestehe. Denn was du, Jahwe, segnest, ist gesegnet für immer!
and now it hath pleased thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Jehovah, hast blessed, and it is blessed for ever.
