Sacharja 5

1 Ich schlug aufs neue meine Augen auf und schaute; da sah ich eine Rolle fliegen.

And I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, a flying roll.

2 Er fragte mich: "Was siehst du da?" Ich sprach:"Ich sehe eine Rolle fliegen, zwanzig Ellen lang, zehn Ellen breit."

And he said to me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.

3 Er sprach zu mir: "Das ist der Fluch, der übers ganze Land ergeht. Wer stiehlt, der wird dafür bestraft. Wer einen Meineid schwört, wird ebenfalls dafür bestraft."

Then said he to me: — This is the curse that goeth forth Over the Face of the whole land; For every one who stealeth shall be cut off from hence, according to it, And every one who sweareth falsely shall be cut off from hence, according to it.

4 "Sprech' ich ihn aus", ein Spruch des Herrn der Heerscharen, "so dringt er in des Diebes Haus und in das Haus des Mannes, der falsch bei meinem Namen schwört, und setzt sich mitten in dem Hause fest, bis er sein Holz und sein Gestein zermalmt hat."

I will bring it forth, saith Jehovah of hosts, And it shall enter into the house of the thief, And into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name; And it shall abide in his house, And shall consume it, with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

5 Der Engel ging voraus, der mit mir redete, und sprach zu mir: "Heb deine Augen auf und schau! Was ist's, was da zum Vorschein kommt?"

Then the angel who talked with me went forth, and said to me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what this is which goeth forth.

6 Ich sprach: "Was ist es wohl?" Er sagte: "Eine Tonne ist's, was da zum Vorschein kommt," und sagte weiter: "Das ist im ganzen Lande ihre Missetat."

And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah which goeth forth. He said, moreover, This is their image through all the land.

7 Da ward ein Deckel, bleiern, abgehoben, und mitten in der Tonne saß ein Weib.

And behold, a talent of lead was lifted up, and a woman was sitting upon the ephah.

8 Er sprach: "Das ist die Schlechtigkeit" und stieß sie wieder in die Tonne und warf den bleiernen Deckel auf die Öffnung.

And he said, This is the Wickedness. And he cast her into the ephah, and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.

9 Da schlug ich meine Augen wieder auf und schaute. Zwei Weiber wurden sichtbar, mit Wind in ihren Flügeln. Sie hatten nämlich gleich den Störchen Flügel; sie trugen zwischen Erd und Himmel die Tonne fort.

Then lifted I up mine eyes and looked, and behold, there came forth two women, and wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and heaven.

10 Ich sprach zum Engel, der mit mir redete: "Wohin verbringen sie die Tonne?"

Then said I to the angel who talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?

11 Er sprach zu mir: "Ihr baut man in dem Lande Sinear ein Haus. Ist's fertig, wird sie dort auf ihr Gestell gesetzt."

And he said to me, To build it a house in the land of Shinar, that it may be fixed there, and set upon its base.
