Sacharja 2

1 Aufs neue schlug ich meine Augen auf und schaute, da war ein Mann mit einer Meßschnur in der Hand.

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring-line in his hand.

2 "Wohin", frug ich, "willst du?" Er sprach zu mir: "Jerusalem zu messen und zu sehn, wie breit und lang es wird."

Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

3 Nun ging der Engel vorwärts, der mit mir redete; da kam ein andrer Engel ihm entgegen.

And behold, the angel who talked with me went forth, and another angel went forth to meet him,

4 Er sprach zu ihm: "Lauf! Sag dem jungen Mann: 'Jerusalem bleibt ohne Mauern jetzt, der Menge all der Menschen und des Viehes wegen.'

and said to him, Run, speak to that young man, saying: Jerusalem shall be inhabited without walls On account of the multitude of men and of cattle within her.

5 'Ich selber diene ihm', ein Spruch des Herrn, 'ringsum als Feuermauer, selber ihm zum Glanz.'

And I will be to her, saith Jehovah, A wall of fire round about, And glory will I be within her.

6 'Auf! Auf! Flieht aus des Nordens Land!' Ein Spruch des Herrn. 'Ich streute euch nach allen den vier Himmelswinden.' Ein Spruch des Herrn.

Ho! ho! flee ye out of the land of the North, saith Jehovah; For toward the four winds of heaven have I scattered you abroad, saith Jehovah.

7 'Auf! Rette dich nach Sion du, die du bei Babels Tochter weilst!'

Ho, Zion, escape, Thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon!

8 Denn also spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, der mich gesandt, nachdem er seinen Sinn geändert, von jenen Völkern, die euch ausgeplündert: 'Wer euch anrührt, der rührt an seines Auges Apfel.

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: For glory hath he sent me to the nations which plundered you; (For he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.)

9 Ich schwinge gegen jene meine Hand; sie sollen eine Beute ihrer Sklaven werden.' Da seht ihr ein, daß mich der Herr gesandt.

For, behold, I will shake my hand over them, And they shall be a spoil to those that served them; And ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me.

10 'Du, Tochter Sions, juble und frohlocke! Ich komme, und ich wohne ja in deiner Mitte.' Ein Spruch des Herrn."

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For, behold, I will come, And I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith Jehovah;

11 Dann schließen sich an jenem Tage viele Völker an den Herrn. "Sie werden mir zum Volke sein. Ich wohne dann in deiner Mitte." Dann siehst du ein: Der Herr der Heerscharen hat mich zu dir gesandt.

And many nations shall join themselves to Jehovah in that day, And shall be my people; And I will dwell in the midst of thee; And thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me to thee.

12 So nimmt der Herr sich Juda wiederum zu eigen im heiligen Land, und er erwählt sich wiederum Jerusalem.

And Jehovah will possess Judah as his portion in the holy land, And will again choose Jerusalem.

13 Vorm Herrn sei alle Welt jetzt still! Er ist in seiner heiligen Wohnung aufgewacht.

Be silent, all flesh, before Jehovah! For he riseth up from his holy habitation.
