Rut 3
1 Darauf sprach ihre Schwiegermutter Noëmi zu ihr: "Meine Tochter! Ich will dir eine Heimat schaffen, die dir gefällt.
Naomi, her mother-in-law, said to her, “My daughter, should I not seek a place for you to rest, so that things may go well for you?
2 Nun, ist denn Boaz nicht mit uns verwandt, bei dessen Mädchen du gewesen? Er worfelt heute nacht die Gerstentenne.
Now Boaz, the man whose young female workers you have been with, is he not our kinsman? Look, he will be winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.
3 So wasche dich und salbe dich! Leg deine Kleider an und geh hinab zur Tenne! Doch gib dich nicht dem Manne zu erkennen, bis er mit Essen und mit Trinken fertig ist!
Therefore, wash yourself, anoint yourself, put on your best clothes, and go down to the threshing floor. But do not make yourself known to the man until he finishes eating and drinking.
4 Wenn er sich niederlegt, dann merke dir den Ort, wo er sich niederlegt! Geh hin! Deck dann den Platz zu seinen Füßen auf und lege dich dort nieder! Er wird dir sagen, was du tun sollst."
But when he lies down, take notice of the place where he lies down so that later you can go to him, uncover his feet, and lie down there. Then he will tell you what to do.”
5 Da sagte sie zu ihr: "Was immer du mir sagst, das will ich tun."
Ruth said to Naomi, “I will do everything you say.”
6 Sie ging zur Tenne und tat, wie ihre Schwiegermutter sie geheißen.
So she went down to the threshing floor, and she followed the instructions her mother-in-law had given her.
7 Und Boaz aß und trank und wurde guter Dinge. Dann ging er hin, sich hinter den Getreidehaufen hinzulegen. Sie aber ging ganz leise herzu und deckte nun den Platz zu seinen Füßen auf und legte sich hier nieder.
When Boaz had eaten and drunk and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the pile of grain. Then she came softly, uncovered his feet, and lay down.
8 Und da geschah es um Mitternacht. Der Mann fuhr voller Schrecken auf, und als er tastete, da lag das Weib an seinem Fußende.
It came about at midnight that the man was startled. He turned over, and right there a woman was lying at his feet!
9 Er sprach: "Wer bist denn du?" Da sagte sie: "Ruth, deine Magd! Heirate deine Magd! Du bist verwandt."
He said, “Who are you?” She answered, “I am Ruth, your female servant. Spread your cloak over your female servant, for you are a near kinsman.”
10 Er sprach: "Gesegnet seist du, meine Tochter, von dem Herrn! Du hast später deine Liebe schöner noch gezeigt als je zuvor. Du liefst nicht jungen Männern nach, ob arm, ob reich.
Boaz said, “My daughter, may you be blessed by Yahweh. You have showed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, because you have not gone after any of the young men, whether poor or rich.
11 Nun, -eine Tochter, sei getrost! Ich werde ganz nach deinen Worten an dir tun. Denn jede Sippe meines Volkes weiß: Du bist ein wackeres Weib.
Now, my daughter, do not be afraid! I will do for you all that you say, because all the city of my people knows that you are a worthy woman.
12 Nun ist es so: Ich bin verwandt. Doch gibt es einen, der noch näher ist verwandt als ich.
It is true that I am a kinsman, but there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13 Bleib diese Nacht nur hier! Freit er dich morgen, gut! So mag er freien. Doch hat er keine Lust dazu, so will, so wahr der Herr lebt, ich dich freien. Jetzt schlafe bis zum Morgen!"
Stay here tonight, and in the morning, if he will perform for you the duty of a kinsman, good, let him do the kinsman's duty. But if he will not do the duty of a kinsman for you, then I will do it, by the life of Yahweh. Lie down until the morning.”
14 So lag sie bis zum Morgen früh an seinem Fußende. Alsdann erhob sie sich, bevor noch irgendwer den anderen erkennen konnte. Sie sprach: "Nicht ruchbar werde es, daß auf die Tenne hier ein Weib gekommen ist."
So she lay at his feet until the morning. But she rose up before anyone could recognize another person. For Boaz had said, “Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.”
15 Da sagte er: "So nimm den Überwurf, den du da trägst, und halte ihn her!" Sie hielt ihn hin. Da maß er sechs Maß Gerste ab und lud es ihr auf. So kam sie in die Stadt.
Then Boaz said, “Bring your shawl and hold it out.” When she did so, he measured six large measures of barley into it and put the load on her. Then he went into the city.
16 Sie kam zu ihrer Schwiegermutter, und diese fragte: "Wie steht's mit dir, du meine Tochter?" Und sie erzählte ihr, was ihr der Mann erwiesen hatte.
When Ruth came to her mother-in-law, she said, “How did you do, my daughter?” Then Ruth told her all that the man had done for her.
17 Sie sagte: "Die sechs Maß Gerste schenkte er mir. Er sprach: 'Du darfst nicht leer zu deiner Schwiegermutter kommen.'"
She said, “These six measures of barley are what he gave me, for he said, 'Do not go empty to your mother-in-law.'”
18 Da sagte sie: "Verhalt dich ruhig, meine Tochter, bis du weißt, wie diese Sache endet! Der Mann wird ja nicht ruhen, bis er die Sache heute noch zu Ende bringt."
Then Naomi said, “Stay here, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out, for the man will not rest until he has finished this thing today.”
