Roemers 10

1 Liebe Brüder! Meines Herzens Wunsch und mein Gebet zu Gott gilt ihnen, daß sie gerettet werden.

Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2 Denn ich bezeuge ihnen, daß sie zwar Eifer für Gott haben, doch nicht in rechter Einsicht.

For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 Sie verkannten die Gerechtigkeit aus Gott und suchten ihre eigene aufzustellen und unterwarfen sich so nicht der Gerechtigkeit aus Gott.

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4 Mit Christus hat das Gesetz ein Ende, so daß ein jeder gerecht wird nur durch Glauben.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

5 Schreibt Moses doch von der Gerechtigkeit aus dem Gesetze: "Wer dies tut, wird dadurch leben."

For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

6 Doch die Gerechtigkeit des Glaubens sagt: "Sprich nicht in deinem Herzen: 'Wer wird zum Himmel steigen?'" - nämlich um Christus von dort herabzuholen.

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? ( that is, to bring Christ down from above: )

7 Oder - "Wer wird in den Abgrund steigen?" - nämlich um Christus von den Toten zurückzurufen. (Abyssos g12)

Or, Who shall descend into the deep? ( that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) (Abyssos g12)

8 Nein! Wie spricht sie vielmehr? "Nahe bei dir ist das Wort, in deinem Mund und in deinem Herzen", das Wort des Glaubens nämlich, das wir verkünden.

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 Wenn du also mit deinem Mund bekennst: Jesus ist der Herr, und in deinem Herzen glaubst, daß Gott ihn von den Toten auferweckt hat, wirst du gerettet werden.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 Denn mit dem Herzen glaubt man, um gerecht zu werden; doch mit dem Munde bekennt man, um Rettung zu erlangen.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 So sagt ja auch die Schrift: "Wer an ihn glaubt, wird nicht zuschanden werden."

For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 Da gibt es keinen Unterschied mehr zwischen Juden und Heiden; derselbe Herr ist der Herr aller, der reichlich allen gibt, die zu ihm rufen.

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 "Wird doch jeder, der den Namen des Herrn anruft, gerettet werden."

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 Wie sollen sie aber den anrufen, an den sie noch nicht glauben? Wie sollen sie an den glauben, von dem sie nichts gehört haben? Wie können sie hören, wenn ihnen nicht gepredigt wird?

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 Wie können sie denn predigen, wenn sie nicht gesandt sind? So steht es ja auch geschrieben: "Wie lieblich sind die Füße derer, die den Frieden verkünden eine frohe Botschaft verkünden!"

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 Jedoch nicht alle wollen jener frohen Botschaft Folge leisten, sagt doch Isaias: "Herr, wer glaubt unserer Predigt?"

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So kommt der Glaube aus dem Hören; was aber gehört wird, kommt durch das Wort Christi.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 Vielleicht vernahmen sie aber nichts davon? O doch! "Ihr Schall drang in die ganze Welt, ihr Wort bis an die Enden der Erde."

But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

19 Vielleicht, frage ich, verstand es Israel nicht? Zunächst sagt Moses: "Ich will euch eifersüchtig machen auf ein 'Nicht-Volk', zum Zorn euch reizen auf ein unverständiges Volk."

But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

20 Isaias getraut sich sogar zu sagen: "Auffinden ließ ich mich von solchen, die mich nicht suchten, und offenkundig ward ich denen, die nicht nach mir fragten."

But Isaiah is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

21 Jedoch von Israel spricht er: "Ich streckte allzeit meine Hände aus nach einem ungläubigen und widerspenstigen Volke."

But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
