Psalm 90
1 Ein Gebet, von Moses, dem Gottesmann. - Ein Obdach bist Du, Herr, für uns durch alle Menschenalter.
A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, thou hast bene our habitation from generation to generation.
2 Bevor die Berge noch geboren wurden, bevor die Erde und die Welt gezeugt, bist Du von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeiten, Gott.
Before the mountaines were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, euen from euerlasting to euerlasting thou art our God.
3 Die Menschen wandelst Du in Staub und sprichst: "Ihr andern Menschenkinder: werdet!"
Thou turnest man to destruction: againe thou sayest, Returne, ye sonnes of Adam.
4 Denn tausend Jahre sind in Deinen Augen gleich einem jüngst vergangenen Tag, gleich einer Wache in der Nacht.
For a thousande yeeres in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
5 Du lässest sie im Schlaf entstehen; sie sind wie Gras, das morgens sprießt,
Thou hast ouerflowed them: they are as a sleepe: in the morning he groweth like the grasse:
6 das morgens blüht und sprießt, am Abend welkt und dorrt
In the morning it florisheth and groweth, but in the euening it is cut downe and withereth.
7 Vor Deinem Zorn vergehen wir; zunichte werden wir vor Deinem Grimme,
For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
8 wenn Du Dir unsere Vergehn vor Augen stellst, vor Deines Angesichtes Leuchte unsere schlimmsten Fehler.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sinnes in the light of thy countenance.
9 Denn alle unsere Tage schwinden unter Deinem Grimme, und wir verbringen unsere Jahre einem Seufzer gleich.
For all our dayes are past in thine anger: we haue spent our yeeres as a thought.
10 Auf siebzig kommen unsres Lebens Jahre, bei großer Kraft auf achtzig. Ihr Stolz ist Mühsal nur und Elend. Sie eilen schnell dahin, und wir entschwinden.
The time of our life is threescore yeeres and ten, and if they be of strength, fourescore yeeres: yet their strength is but labour and sorowe: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away.
11 Wer weiß Bescheid mit Deines Zornes Stärke und wer mit Deinem Grimm, der Furcht vor Dir entsprechend?
Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? for according to thy feare is thine anger.
12 Dieweil wir also unsere Tage zählen, zeig doch das Richtige, auf daß wir zur Vernunft gelangen!
Teach vs so to nomber our dayes, that we may apply our heartes vnto wisdome.
13 Laß ab, o Herr! Wie lange noch? Werd andern Sinnes über Deine Knechte!
Returne (O Lord, howe long?) and be pacified toward thy seruants.
14 Erquick uns bald mit Deiner Huld, damit wir jubelnd lebenslang uns freuen!
Fill vs with thy mercie in the morning: so shall we reioyce and be glad all our dayes.
15 Erfreu mit so viel Tagen uns, wie wir getrauert, mit so viel Jahren, wie in Unheil wir gelebt.
Comfort vs according to the dayes that thou hast afflicted vs, and according to the yeeres that we haue seene euill.
16 Dein Wirken zeige sich an Deinen Knechten und Deine Herrlichkeit an ihren Kindern!
Let thy worke bee seene towarde thy seruants, and thy glory vpon their children.
17 Des Herrn, unseres Gottes Gnade walte über uns, und fördere unsrer Hände Werk bei uns, ja, fördere unserer Hände Werk!
And let the beautie of the Lord our God be vpon vs, and direct thou the worke of our hands vpon vs, euen direct the worke of our handes.
