Psalm 89
1 Ein Lehrgedicht, von Ethan, dem Ezrachiten. Ich singe von des Herrn ewiger Liebe. Mit meinem Mund verkündige ich Deine Treue für künftige Geschlechter.
An Instructive Psalm, by Ethan the Ezrahite. The lovingkindnesses of Yahweh, age-abidingly will I sing, To generation after generation, will I make known thy faithfulness with my mouth.
2 Denn ich erklär: Die Liebe ist auf ewigen Grund gebaut; dem Himmel gleich befestigest Du Deine Treue.
For I said, To times age-abiding, shall lovingkindness be built up, As for the heavens, thou wilt establish thy faithfulness therein.
3 "Mit meinem Auserwählten schloß ich einen Bund; Ich schwor dem David, meinem Knecht:
I have solemnised a covenant, for my chosen one, I have sworn unto David my servant:
4 Auf ewig laß ich deinen Stamm bestehen, begründe deinen Thron für alle Zeiten." (Sela)
Unto times age-abiding, will I establish thy seed, And will build up, unto generation after generation, thy throne. (Selah)
5 Dein unvergleichlich Wesen preist der Himmel, Herr, und Deine Treue mit der heiligen Gemeinde.
So shall the heavens praise thy wondrousness, O Yahweh, —Yea, thy faithfulness, in the convocation of holy ones.
6 Wer in den Wolken gleicht dem Herrn? Wer von den Gottessöhnen ist dem Herrn ähnlich,
For whom, in the skies, can one compare unto Yahweh? [Or] can one liken unto Yahweh, among the sons of the mighty?
7 dem Gott, so schrecklich in der Heiligen Rat und furchtbar über alle um ihn her?
A GOD inspiring awe in the circle of the holy ones, exceedingly, And to be reverenced above all who are round about him.
8 Herr, Gott der Heerscharen! Wer ist, wie Du, so mächtig, Herr? Wie Deine Treue doch für die, die Dich umgeben?
O Yahweh, God of hosts! Who, like thee, is mighty, O Yah! With thy faithfulness round about thee:
9 Du bist des stolzen Meeres Herrscher; nur Du beruhigst seiner Wogen Brandung.
Thou, rulest over the swelling of the sea, When the rolling waves thereof lift themselves, Thou, dost bid them be still:
10 Nur Du schlägst Rahab, daß es kampfunfähig wird, zerstreust mit Deinem starken Arme Deine Feinde.
Thou, hast crushed—as one slain—Rahab, With thy strong arm, hast thou scattered thy foes.
11 Dein ist der Himmel, Dein die Erde; die Welt und was sie füllt, hast Du gegründet.
Thine, are the heavens, Yea, thine, the earth, The world and the fulness thereof, Thou, didst found them;
12 Den Norden und den Süden schufest Du; der Tabor und der Hermon hoben sich in Deinem Namen.
The north and the south, Thou, didst create them, —Tabor and Hermon, with thy Name, shall shout for joy:
13 Dir ist ein Arm voll Kraft zu eigen, und stark ist Deine Hand und Deine Rechte hoch erhoben.
Thine is an arm with might, Strong is thy hand, High is thy right hand;
14 Gerechtigkeit und Recht sind Deines Thrones Pfeiler, und Huld und Treue gehen vor Dir her.
Righteousness and justice, are the establishing of thy throne, Lovingkindness and faithfulness, go before thy face.
15 Dem Volke Heil, das jauchzend im Lichte Deines Angesichtes wandelt, Herr,
How happy are the people who know the joyful sound! O Yahweh! in the light of thy countenance, shall they firmly march along;
16 das über Deinen Namen stets frohlockt und das durch Deine Liebe groß dasteht!
In thy Name, shall they exult all the day, And, in thy righteousness, shall they be exalted.
17 Die Krone seiner Macht bist Du; durch Deine Huld wächst unsere Macht.
For, the beauty of their strength, thou art, And, in thine acceptance, shall our horns be exalted.
18 Fürwahr, dem Herrn ist unser Schild zu eigen, dem Heiligen Israels unser König. -
For, to Yahweh, belongeth our Shield, And, to the Holy One of Israel, belongeth our King.
19 Einst sprachst Du im Gesicht zu Deinem Frommen. Du sprachst: "Ich habe aufgeholfen einem Helden und einen Jüngling aus dem Volk erhoben.
Then spakest thou in vision of thy men of lovingkindness, and saidst—I have laid help upon a mighty one, I have exalted one chosen from among the people;
20 Ich habe David, meinen Knecht, ergriffen, mit meinem heiligen Öle ihn gesalbt,
I have found David my servant, With mine own holy oil, have I anointed him;
21 daß meine Hand beständig mit ihm sei, und daß mein Arm ihn stärke.
With whom my hand shall be firm, Yea, mine arm, shall strengthen him;
22 Kein Gegner wird ihn überfallen, kein Frevler ihn bedrängen.
No foe shall make exactions on him, Nor shall, a son of perversity, humiliate him;
23 Vor ihm zerschmettere ich seine Feinde, und seine Hasser schlage ich zu Boden.
And I will shatter, from before him, his adversaries, And, them who hate him, will I smite;
24 Begleiten soll'n ihn meine Huld und Treue, mein Name seine Macht erhöhen!
And, my faithfulness and my lovingkindness, shall be with him, And, in my Name, exalted shall be his horn;
25 Ich setze seine Hand aufs Meer und auf die Ströme seine Rechte.
And I will set, in the sea, his hand, And, in the rivers, his right hand;
26 Er soll mich anrufen: 'Mein Vater Du, mein Gott und meines Heiles Hort bist Du.'
He, shall cry out unto me, My Father, thou art, My GOD, and my Rock of Salvation!
27 Ich mache ihn zum Erstgeborenen, zum Höchsten von den Erdenkönigen.
Yea, I, will appoint him, firstborn, Most High to the kings of the earth!
28 Ich will ihm ewig meine Huld bewahren und unverbrüchlich meinen Bund.
Age-abidingly, will I keep for him my lovingkindness, And, my covenant, hath been made steadfast for him;
29 Ich mache ewig seinen Stamm und seinen Thron des Himmels Tagen gleich.
Therefore will I appoint, to futurity, his seed, And his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 Verlassen aber seine Söhne mein Gesetz und wandeln nicht nach meinen Ordnungen,
If his sons forsake my law, And, in my regulations, do not walk;
31 entweihn sie meine Satzungen und halten nimmer meine Vorschriften,
If, my statutes, they profane, And, my commandments, do not keep:
32 dann strafe ich mit Ruten ihr Vergehen, mit Streichen ihre Missetat.
Then will I punish, with a rod, their transgression; And, with stripes, their iniquity:
33 Doch ich entziehe ihm nicht meine Gnade, und meine Treue laß ich ihm nicht fehlen,
But, my lovingkindness, will I not frustrate from them, Neither will I falsify my faithfulness;
34 verletze nimmer meinen Bund und ändre nicht den Ausspruch meiner Lippen.
I will not violate my covenant, And that which hath proceeded out of my lips, will I not alter:
35 Ich schwöre ein für allemal bei meiner Heiligkeit: - Wie sollte ich auch David täuschen? -
One thing, have I sworn by my holiness, Verily, to David, will I not lie;
36 Sein Stamm soll ewig dauern, sein Thron, der Sonne gleich nach meinem Willen,
His seed, age-abidingly, shall remain, And, his throne, be like the sun before me;
37 und wie der Mond für alle Zeiten währen, beständig so, wie dieser in den Wolken!" (Sela)
Like the moon, shall it be established unto times age-abiding, And, a witness, in the skies, hath been made sure. (Selah)
38 Und doch verwirfst Du und verschmähst im Zorne den, den Du gesalbt,
Yet, thou thyself, hast cast off, and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with thine Anointed One!
39 vernichtest Deines Knechtes Bund; wirfst seine Krone in den Staub,
Thou hast cast down the covenant of thy Servant, Thou hast profaned, to the earth, his crown;
40 durchbrichst all seine Mauern, zertrümmerst seine Festen.
Thou hast broken down all his defenses, Thou hast laid his fortresses in ruins;
41 Wer da vorübergeht, der plündert ihn; für seine Nachbarn ist er nur ein Hohn.
All the passers by the way, have plundered him, He hath become a reproach to his neighbours;
42 Du hebst empor die Rechte seiner Dränger, erfreuest alle seine Feinde.
Thou hast raised the right hand of his adversaries, Thou hast gladdened all his enemies;
43 Du läßt abprallen seines Schwertes Schneide und ihn im Kampfe nicht bestehn,
Yea thou hast turned the edge of his sword, Neither hast thou caused him to stand in the battle;
44 vernichtest seine Heiligkeit und stürzest seinen Thron zu Boden,
Thou hast brought to an end his splendour, And, his throne—to the ground, hast thou hurled;
45 verkürzest seine Jugendzeit, und deckest ihn mit Schande zu. (Sela)
Thou hast shortened the days of his youths, —Thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
46 Wie lange, Herr, verbirgst Du Dich so ganz? Wie lange brennt Dein Grimm wie Feuer?
How long, O Yahweh, Wilt thou hide thyself utterly? Shall thine indignation, burn like fire?
47 Bedenk doch, was ich für ein Wesen bin! Zu welchem Nichts schufst Du die Menschenkinder alle!
Remember how short-lived, I, am, Wherefore, in vain, hast thou created all the sons of Adam?
48 Wo ist der Mann, der leben bliebe und den Tod nicht schaute, der vor des Grabes Macht sein Leben wahrte? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
Who is the man that shall live, and not see death? That can deliver his soul from the hand of hades. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Wo sind, Herr, Deiner Gnade frühere Beweise, die Du dem David schwurst bei Deiner Treue?
Where are thy former lovingkindnesses, O My Lord? Thou didst swear unto David, in thy faithfulness!
50 Bedenk den Hohn auf Deine Knechte, Herr, den ich von all den vielen Völkern her in meinem Busen trage,
Remember, O My Lord, the reproach of thy servants, I have carried in my bosom the insult of the peoples:
51 den Hohn, mit dem Dich Deine Feinde, Herr, verhöhnen, mit dem sie des von Dir Gesalbten Stamm beschimpfen!
In that thy foes have reproached, O Yahweh, In that they have reproached the footsteps of thine Anointed One!
52 Gepriesen sei der Herr in Ewigkeit! Amen! Amen!
Blessed be Yahweh to times age-abiding, Amen, and Amen!
