Psalm 85
1 Auf den Siegesspender, von den Korachiten, ein Lied. Du hast Dein Land begnadet, Herr, und Jakobs Schicksal umgewandelt,
“To the chief musician, by the sons of Korach, a psalm.” Thou hast been favorable, O Lord, unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 vergeben Deines Volkes Schuld, bedeckt all ihr Vergehen. (Sela)
Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered over all their sin. (Selah)
3 Du zogst all Deinen Grimm zurück und dämpftest Deine Zornesglut.
Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast relinquished the fierceness of thy anger.
4 Du, unser hilfereicher Gott, geh weiterhin mit uns! Und tilge vollends Deinen Unmut wider uns!
Return to us, O God of our salvation, and cause thy ill-will toward us to cease.
5 Willst Du denn ewig auf uns zürnen, auf alle Zeiten Deinen Zorn ausdehnen?
Wilt thou be wroth with us for ever? wilt thou extend thy anger from generation to generation?
6 Willst Du uns nicht aufs neu beleben, auf daß Dein Volk sich Deiner freue?
Wilt thou not [now] revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Erzeig uns Deine Gnade, Herr! Gewähre uns Dein Heil! -
Show us thy kindness, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
8 Ich möchte hören, was der Herr verheißt: Er spricht von Frieden für sein Volk und seine Frommen, für die, die umkehren, von Hoffnung.
I will hear what God the Lord will speak; for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his pious ones: only let them not turn again to folly.
9 Schon naht sein Heil sich denen, die ihn fürchten, auf daß die Herrlichkeit in unserm Lande wieder wohne.
Surely, nigh is his salvation unto those that fear him: that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Dann finden sich die Liebe und die Treue; Gerechtigkeit und Frieden küssen sich.
Kindness and truth are met together: righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Die Treue reckt auf Erden sich, und die Gerechtigkeit neigt sich vom Himmel.
Truth will grow up out of the earth, and righteousness will look down from heaven.
12 Der Herr beschert alsdann den Segen, und unser Land gibt seine volle Ernte wieder.
Yea, the Lord will also give the good, and our land will yield its products.
13 Gerechtigkeit geht vor ihm her, und auf dem Wege seiner Schritte ist Geradheit.
Righteousness will walk firmly before him, and will make [level] the way by its steps.
