Psalm 82

1 Ein Lied, von Asaph. - Zum Gottesrat begibt sich Gott, Gericht bei Göttern abzuhalten:

A Psalm of Asaph. God has stood in the synagogue of gods, but, in their midst, he decides between gods.

2 "Wie lange wollt ihr noch das Recht verdrehen, für Schuldige Partei ergreifen? (Sela)

How long will you judge unjustly and favor the faces of sinners?

3 Den Armen und den Waisen schaffet Recht! Verteidigt den Geringen und den Dürftigen!

Judge for the indigent and the orphan. Do justice to the humble and the poor.

4 Errettet Niedrige und Arme! Befreit sie aus der Frevler Hand!

Rescue the poor, and free the needy from the hand of the sinner.

5 Sie achten's nicht, verständnislos; im Finstern wandeln sie umher; des Landes Stützen wanken all.

They did not know and did not understand. They wander in darkness. All the foundations of the earth will be moved.

6 Ich habe zwar gesprochen: "Ihr seid Götter, ihr des Höchsten Söhne all.'

I said: You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High.

7 Jedoch wie andere Menschen sollt ihr sterben, wie andere Fürsten niedersinken!" -

But you will die like men, and you will fall just like one of the princes.

8 Auf, Gott! Der Erde halte ihr Gericht! Du bist der Erbherr aller Heidenvölker.

Rise up, O God. Judge the earth. For you will inherit it with all the nations.
