Psalm 63

1 Ein Lied, von David, als er in der Wüste Juda war. Dich such ich, Gott, mein Gott; nach Dir lechzt meine Seele; nach Dir sehnt sich mein Fleisch. Wie in dem dürren, trocknen, wasserlosen Lande,

A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. God, you are my God! I earnestly search for you, my soul thirsts for you, and my flesh longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

2 so schau ich aus nach Dir, um Deine Pracht zu sehen und Deine Majestät im Heiligtum.

So I have looked on you in the sanctuary, to see your power and your glory.

3 Denn köstlicher ist Deine Huld als Leben. Dich preisen meine Lippen.

Because your covenant faithfulness is better than life, my lips will praise you.

4 So preise ich Dich lebenslang; in Deinem Namen will ich regen meine Hände.

So I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name.

5 Gleichwie von Fett und Öl wird meine Seele satt; mit Jubellippen singt mein Mund,

It will be as if I ate a meal of marrow and fatness; with joyful lips my mouth will praise you,

6 wenn ich auf meinem Lager Dein gedenke, in mitternächtiger Stunde sinne über Dich,

when I think about you on my bed and meditate on you in the night hours.

7 Du möchtest Schutz mir sein, daß ich im Schatten Deiner Flügel jauchze.

For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.

8 An Dir hängt meine Seele; ich klammere mich an Deine Rechte.

I cling to you; your right hand supports me.

9 Die meine Seele gerne in der Wüste wüßten, sie mögen in der Erde Tiefe fahren!

But those who seek to destroy my life will go down into the lowest parts of the earth;

10 Die sie dem Untergange überliefern wollen, die mögen der Schakale Beute werden!

they will be given over to those whose hands use the sword, and they will become food for the jackals.

11 Der König aber freue sich in Gott, und wer ihm Treue schwört, der jauchze! Der Lügner Mund wird zugestopft.

But the king will rejoice in God; everyone who swears by him will be proud of him, but the mouth of those who speak lies will be stopped up.
