Psalm 60
1 Auf den Siegesspender, für den öffentlichen Gottesdienst, ein Weihelied, von David, zum Lehren, als er mit den Syrern von Mesopotamien und den Syrern von Soba kämpfte, und als Joab zurückkehrte und die Edomiter im Salztal schlug, 12.000 Mann. Gott! Du verwirfst uns; ach, Du schlägst uns; Du läßt in Deinem Zorn zurück uns weichen.
To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
2 Das Land erschütterst Du und schlägst ihm Wunden. Heil ihm die Wunden! Sieh, es wankt.
Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3 Du bist so hart mit Deinem Volke, tränkst uns mit Taumelwein
Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
4 und machst, daß, die Dich fürchten, im Kampfe irre fliehen müssen. (Sela)
Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. (Selah)
5 Daß Deine Lieblinge gerettet werden, dazu verhilf mit Deiner Rechten! Höre uns!
That thy beloved may be delivered; save [with] thy right hand, and hear me.
6 Gott hat in seinem Heiligtum gesprochen: "Ich soll im Siegesjubel Sichem jetzt verteilen, das Sukkot-Tal vermessen.
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
7 Mein würde Gilead, Manasse mein, und meine Hauptwehr Ephraim und Juda mein Regentenstab.
Gilead [is] mine, and Manasseh [is] mine; Ephraim also [is] the strength of mine head; Judah [is] my lawgiver;
8 Ich zwänge Moab, mir das Waschbecken, und Edom, mir die Schuhe herzurichten, und über Philistäa triumphierte ich.
Moab [is] my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
9 Wer bringt mich aber jetzt zur festen Stadt? Wer führt mich jetzt nach Edom hin? -
Who will bring me [into] the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
10 Bist Du's nicht, Gott, der uns verstößt, der nicht mit unsern Scharen auszieht, Gott?
[Wilt] not thou, O God, [which] hadst cast us off? and [thou], O God, [which] didst not go out with our armies?
11 Verschaffe Rettung uns aus dieser Not! Denn Menschenhilfe trügt.
Give us help from trouble: for vain [is] the help of man.
12 Mit Gott verrichten wir dann Heldentaten; nur er kann unsere Feinde niederwerfen.
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he [it is that] shall tread down our enemies.
