Psalm 51
1 Auf den Siegesspender, ein Lied, von David, als der Prophet Nathan zu ihm kam, nachdem er zu Bathseba gegangen. Erbarm Dich meiner, Gott, nach Deiner Huld! Nach Deiner großen Güte tilge meine Missetaten!
For the end, a Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, when he had gone to Bersabee. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to your great mercy; and according to the multitude of your compassions blot out my transgression.
2 Wasch meine Schuld mir gründlich ab, und reinige von meiner Sünde mich!
Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 Denn ich erkenne meine Missetaten, und meine Sünde schwebet stets vor mir.
For I am conscious of mine iniquity; and my sin is continually before me.
4 An Dir allein hab ich gesündigt, was bös in Deinen Augen ist, getan, daß Du gerecht dastehst bei Deinem Richterspruche und tadellos mit Deinem Richten.
Against you only have I sinned, and done evil before you: that you might be justified in your sayings, and might overcome when you are judged.
5 Geboren bin ich in der Sünde; in Schuld hat meine Mutter mich empfangen. -
For, behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me.
6 Du liebst die Wahrheit in unverhüllterweise und unterrichtest mich in Weisheit auf verborgne Art.
For, behold, you love truth: you have manifested to me the secret and hidden things of your wisdom.
7 Wasch mich mit Ysop rein von Sünden! Wasch mich, auf daß ich weißer sei als Schnee!
You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be purified: you shall wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.
8 Vernehmen laß mich Freud' und Wonne! Laß die von Dir zerschlagenen Gebeine jubeln!
You shall cause me to hear gladness and joy: the afflicted bones shall rejoice.
9 Verbirg Dein Angesicht vor meinen Sünden, und tilge alle meine Missetaten!
Turn away your face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Erschaff mir, Gott, ein reines Herz, und in mir einen rechten Geist erzeuge!
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit in my inward parts.
11 Verstoß mich nimmermehr von Deinem Angesicht, und Deinen heiligen Geist entziehe mir nicht wieder! -
Cast me not away from your presence; and remove not your holy Spirit from me.
12 Gib wieder mir die Wonne Deines Heils! Erquicke mich mit frohgemutem Geist!
Restore to me the joy of your salvation: establish me with your directing Spirit.
13 Die Irrenden belehre ich dann über Deine Wege, und Sünder kehren sich zu Dir. -
[Then] will I teach transgressors your ways; and ungodly men shall turn to you.
14 Gott, ohne Blutopfer, errette mich, Du meines Heiles Gott. Alsdann wird meine Zunge jubelnd Deine Liebe preisen.
Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation: [and] my tongue shall joyfully declare your righteousness.
15 Herr, öffne Du mir meine Lippen! Dann wird mein Mund Dein Lob verkünden.
O Lord, you shall open my lips; and my mouth shall declare your praise.
16 Denn Du verlangst nicht Blutopfer, noch andre Gaben. Nicht willst Du Brandopfer.
For if you desired sacrifice, I would have given [it]: you will not take pleasure in whole burnt offerings.
17 Mein Opfer, Gott, ist ein zerbrochener Geist, ein ganz gebrochen und zerknirschtes Herz, o Gott, verschmähst Du nie.
Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit: a broken and humbled heart God will not despise.
18 In Deiner Gnade fördere Sion! Erbau die Mauern von Jerusalem!
Do good, O Lord, to Sion in your good pleasure; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.
19 Dann findest Du an echten Opfern Freudesowie an Brand und ganzen Opfern. Auf Deinen Altar kommen dann Gebete.
Then shall you be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, offering, and whole burnt sacrifices: then shall they offer calves upon your altar.
