Psalm 26

1 Von David. - Urteile, Herr, ob ich in Unschuld nicht gewandelt und sonder Wanken auf den Herrn vertraut!

Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

2 Prüf mich, erprob mich, Herr! Rein ist mein Herz und mein Gewissen.

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

3 Denn Deine Güte schwebte mir vor Augen, und Dir getreu bin ich gewandelt.

For your loving kindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in your truth.

4 Bei schlechten Männern bin ich nie gesessen; hab nie mit Lichtscheuen Umgang gepflogen.

I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

5 Ich haßte die Zusammenkunft der Bösen, und bei den Frevlern saß ich nicht.

I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

6 In Unschuld wasche ich die Hände und schreite gern um Deinen Altar, Herr.

I will wash mine hands in innocence: so will I compass your altar, O LORD:

7 Ich lausche Deines Lobes Stimme und künde alle Deine Wunder.

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works.

8 Ich liebe, Herr, den Aufenthalt in Deinem Hause, das Weilen an der Stätte Deiner Herrlichkeit.

LORD, I have loved the habitation of your house, and the place where your honour dwells.

9 Raff meine Seele nicht mit Sündern hin, mein Leben nicht mit Mordgesellen,

Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:

10 in deren Händen Schandtat käuflich ist, und deren Rechte voll ist von Bestechung!

In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

11 Ich aber wandle hin in meiner Unschuld. Erlöse mich! Und sei mir gnädig!

But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.

12 Betritt mein Fuß dann ebnen Weg, lobpreise ich Dich, Herr, mit Chören.

My foot stands in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the LORD.
