Psalm 149

1 Alleluja! Ein neues Lied singt jetzt dem Herrn, sein Lob mit seiner Frommen Chor!

Praise ye Jehovah. Sing to Jehovah a new song, and his praise in the assembly of the sanctified.

2 Froh wäre Israel an seinem Schöpfer. Ob ihres Königs seien Sions Söhne fröhlich!

Let Israel rejoice in him who made him. Let the sons of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Mit Reigen sollen seinen Namen sie lobpreisen, mit Pauken und mit Zithern ihm lobsingen!

Let them praise his name in the dance. Let them sing praises to him with timbrel and harp.

4 Denn Wohlgefallen hat der Herr an seinem Volke. Er krönt mit Sieg die Dulder.

For Jehovah takes pleasure in his people. He will beautify the meek with salvation.

5 Die Frommen jauchzen dann ob all der Herrlichkeit und tun sich nicht genug in Jubel.

Let the sanctified exult in glory. Let them sing for joy upon their beds.

6 In ihrem Mund sei Gottes Lob, ein scharfes Schwert in ihrer Hand,

The high praises of God are in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand

7 um Rache zu vollziehen an den Heiden und an den Völkern Ahndungen zu üben,

to execute vengeance upon the nations, and punishments upon the peoples,

8 mit Ketten ihre Könige zu binden, mit Eisenfesseln ihre Edlen,

to bind their kings with chains, and their ranking men with fetters of iron,

9 um zu vollziehen das Gericht, wie's vorgeschrieben! Für alle seine Frommen ist dies ehrenvoll. Alleluja!

to execute upon them the judgment written. All his sanctified have this honor. Praise ye Jehovah.
