Psalm 139
1 Auf den Siegesspender; von David, ein Lied. - Herr, Du erforschest und erkennest mich.
Lord, thou hast proved me, and known me:
2 Du weißt es, ob ich sitze oder stehe, durchschaust, was ich für ferne Zukunft plane.
Thou hast know my sitting down, and my rising up.
3 Du spürest meinen Pfad, mein Lager aus; Dir sind vertraut all meine Wege.
Thou hast understood my thoughts afar off: my path and my line thou hast searched out.
4 Dafür fehlt meiner Sprache selbst ein Wort. Doch Herr! Du weißt dies alles selber.
And thou hast foreseen all my ways: for there is no speech in my tongue.
5 Von hinten und von vorne hältst Du mich umschlossen und hast mich ganz in Deiner Hand. -
Behold, O Lord, thou hast known all things, the last and those of old: thou hast formed me, and hast laid thy hand upon me.
6 O wunderbares, mir zu hohes Wissen! Ich kann es nimmer fassen.
Thy knowledge is become wonderful to me: it is high, and I cannot reach to it.
7 Wohin soll ich vor Deinem Geiste gehen, wohin vor Deinem Antlitz fliehen?
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy face?
If I ascend into heaven, thou art there: if I descend into hell, thou art present. (Sheol h7585)
9 Erwähle ich des Morgens Säume, und ging ich an das fernste Meer,
If I take my wings early in the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:
10 auch dort ergriffe Deine Hand mich und Deine Rechte faßte mich.
Even there also shall thy hand lead me: and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 Und spräche ich: "Die Finsternis verhüllt mich sicher; das Licht wird um mich her zur Nacht",
And I said: Perhaps darkness shall cover me: and night shall be my light in my pleasures.
12 so wäre Dir die Finsternis selbst nicht zu finster. Dir leuchtet Nacht wie Tag und Finsternis wie Licht. -
But darkness shall not be dark to thee, and night shall be light as day: the darkness thereof, and the light thereof are alike to thee.
13 Du schufest meine Nieren und formtest mich im Mutterschoße.
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast protected me from my mother’s womb.
14 Ich danke Dir, daß ich so wunderbar bin ausgezeichnet. Ganz wunderbar sind Deine Werke, und meine Seele fühlt es gut.
I will praise thee, for thou art fearfully magnified: wonderful are thy works, and my soul knoweth right well.
15 Mein ganzes Sein ist Dir nicht unbekannt, obgleich ich im Verborgenen geschaffen ward, gewirkt in Erdentiefen.
My bone is not hidden from thee, which thou hast made in secret: and my substance in the lower parts of the earth.
16 Gesehen haben Deine Augen meine umgeformten Glieder. Sie wurden alle in Dein Buch geschrieben, die Tage auch, wo sie sich formten, bevor noch eines davon war.
Thy eyes did see my imperfect being, and in thy book all shall be written: days shall be formed, and no one in them.
17 Wie wertvoll sind mir, Gott, doch Deine Pläne! Wie unschätzbar die wichtigsten von ihnen!
But to me thy friends, O God, are made exceedingly honourable: their principality is exceedingly strengthened.
18 Ich zählte eher noch des Meeres Sand als sie. Und wollte ich ihr Ende gar bestimmen, dann müßte meine Dauer Deiner gleichen. -
I will number them, and they shall be multiplied above the sand: I rose up and am still with thee.
19 Daß Du die Frevler niederstrecken wolltest, Gott! Ja, fort von mir, ihr Blutmenschen,
If thou wilt kill the wicked, O God: ye men of blood, depart from me:
20 die Dir in Tücke widerstreben und hinterlistig Deine Städte zu gewinnen trachten!
Because you say in thought: They shall receive thy cities in vain.
21 Soll ich nicht hassen, die Dich hassen, Herr, vor Deinen Gegnern keinen Abscheu haben?
Have I not hated them, O Lord, that hated thee: and pine away because of thy enemies?
22 Ich hasse sie mit unbegrenztem Hasse; sie gelten mir als Feinde.
I have hated them with a perfect hatred: and they are become enemies to me.
23 Gott! Du erforsche mich! Mein Herz durchschau! Mit scharfem Blick prüf meinen Sinn!
Prove me, O God, and know my heart: examine me, and know my paths.
24 Sieh zu, ob ich der Kränkung Pfad betreten! Zurück zum alten Weg mit mir!
And see if there be in me the way of iniquity: and lead me in the eternal way.
