Psalm 132
1 Ein Stufenlied. - Sei, Herr, zugunsten Davids eingedenk all dessen, was er gesprochen,
O Lord, remember David, and all his meekness.
2 wie er dem Herrn geschworen, dem Starken Jakobs hat gelobt:
How he swore to the Lord, he vowed a vow to the God of Jacob:
3 "Ich gehe nimmer in mein Wohngezelt, besteige nicht mein Ruhebett,
If I shall enter into the tabernacle of my house: if I shall go up into the bed wherein I lie:
4 Versage meinen Augen Schlaf und Schlummer meinen Augenwimpern,
If I shall give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,
5 bis daß ich eine Stätte finde für den Herrn, für Jakobs Starken eine Wohnung." -
Or rest to my temples: until I find out a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
6 Nun hörten wir davon zu Ephrat und fanden sie im Waldgefilde.
Behold we have heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the wood.
7 "Zu seiner Wohnung laßt uns gehen, vor seiner Füße Schemel niederfallen!"
We will go into his tabernacle: We will adore in the place where his feet stood.
8 Auf, Herr, zu Deiner Ruhestätte, Du und die Lade Deiner Herrscherwürde!
Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place: thou and the ark, which thou hast sanctified.
9 Mit Heil laß Deine Priester sich bekleiden, und Deine Frommen mögen jubeln! -
Let thy priests be clothed with justice: and let thy saints rejoice.
10 Um David, Deines Dieners willen, weis nicht zurück, den Du gesalbt!"
For thy servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of thy anointed.
11 Der Herr schwur David Dauer zu. Er geht davon nicht ab. "Auf deinen Thron erheb ich einen von deiner Leibesfrucht.
The Lord hath sworn truth to David, and he will not make it void: of the fruit of thy womb I will set upon thy throne.
12 Bewahren deine Söhne meinen Bund und meine Zeugnisse, wie ich sie lehre, dann dürfen ihre Söhne allezeit auf deinem Throne sitzen!" -
If thy children will keep thy covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them: Their children also for evermore shall sit upon thy throne.
13 Der Herr hat Sion sich erkoren, zum Wohnsitz sich ersehen:
For the Lord hath chosen Sion: he hath chosen it for his dwelling.
14 "Das sei in Ewigkeit mein Ruhesitz, ich throne hier; denn hier gefällt es mir.
This is my rest for ever and ever: here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.
15 Ich segne seine Jugend und gebe seinen Armen Brot in Fülle.
Blessing, I will bless her widow: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 Mit Heil bekleid ich seine Priester, und frohe Lust sei seiner Frommen Teil!
I will clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall rejoice with exceeding great joy.
17 Ich lasse Davids Macht ersprossen, dem richt ich eine Leuchte her, den ich gesalbt.
There will I bring forth a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
18 In Schande hüll ich seine Feinde, dieweil auf ihm ein Diadem erglänzt."
His enemies I will clothe with confusion: but upon him will my sanctification flourish.
