Sprueche 9
1 Die Weisheit hatte sich ein Haus gebaut und sieben Säulensitze machen lassen.
Wisdom hath built her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2 Sie schlachtete ihr Vieh und mischte ihren Wein und deckte ihre Tische.
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mixed her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 Sie sandte ihre Mägde aus, um auf erhöhten Plätzen in der Stadt zu rufen:
She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 "Wer immer töricht ist, der pflege hier der Einkehr!" Wem's an Verstand gebricht, zu dem sag ich:
Whoever is simple, let him turn in here: as for him that lacketh understanding, she saith to him,
5 "Kommt her, genießt von meiner Speise und trinkt den Wein, den ich gemischt!
Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mixed.
6 Laßt von der Torheit, daß ihr lebet, und schlagt den Weg der Einsicht ein!"
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7 Wer einen Spötter schilt, der holt sich selber Schande, wer einen Frevler tadelt, eigene Schmach.
He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 So tadle nicht den Spötter, daß er dich nicht hasse! Doch tadle einen Weisen, dieser wird dich lieben!
Reprove not a scorner, lest he shall hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Belehre einen Weisen! Und er wird noch weiser. Den Frommen lehr! Er mehrt sein Wissen.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 Der Weisheit Anfang ist die Furcht des Herrn; den Heiligen erkennen, das heißt Einsicht.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 "Durch mich ja werden deiner Tage viele; die Lebensjahre werden dir sich mehren.
For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 Bist du jetzt weise, bist du weise dir zum Besten; bist du ein Spötter, hast du es allein zu tragen."
If thou art wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13 Das Weib der Torheit schwatzt nur dummes Zeug; unwissend ist es.
A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 Sie sitzt an ihres Hauses Pforte, auf einem Sessel, fern dem Herzen ihrer Stadt,
For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 um denen zuzurufen, die des Weges ziehen und auf den Pfaden fürbaß schreiten:
To call those who pass by who go right on their ways:
16 "Wer immer töricht ist, der pflege hier der Einkehr!" Wem's an Verstand gebricht, zu dem möcht ich jetzt sagen:
Whoever is simple, let him turn in here: and as for him that lacketh understanding, she saith to him,
17 "Gestohlen Wasser, das ist fein; verboten Brot - ein süßes Brot!"
Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
