Obadja 1
1 Das Gesicht des Abdias: Sprach über Edom so der Herr, der Herr. - Vom Herrn ward eine Offenbarung uns zuteil, und zu den Heidenvölkern ward ein Bote hingesandt: "Wohlauf, wir ziehen jetzt gen Edom!" -
The vision of Obadiah. This is what the LORD says about Edom. We have heard news from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, "Arise, and let's rise up against her in battle.
2 "Ich mache bei den Heiden dich so klein; du wirst gar sehr verächtlich sein.
Look, I have made you small among the nations. You are greatly despised.
3 Betört hat dich jetzt deines Herzens Stolz, dich, das in Felsenhängen wohnt und Höhen hat zum Sitz, und das im Herzen spricht: 'Wer könnte mich zu Boden stürzen?'
The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, 'Who will bring me down to the ground?'
4 Doch throntest du so hoch wie Adler und hättest zwischen Sternen eingebaut dein Nest, ich stürzte dennoch dich von dort hinab." Ein Spruch des Herrn.
Though you mount on high as the eagle, and though your nest is set among the stars, I will bring you down from there," says the LORD.
5 Ja, wären Diebe über dich gekommen oder Räuber bei der Nacht, wie wärest du verwüstet worden? Nicht wahr, sie hätten nur soviel gestohlen, wie sie grade hätten tragen können? Und wären Winzer über dich gekommen, hätten sie nicht eine Nachlese zurückgelassen?
"If thieves came to you, if robbers by night—oh, what disaster awaits you—wouldn't they only steal until they had enough? If grape pickers came to you, wouldn't they leave some gleaning grapes?
6 Doch wie durchwühlt steht nunmehr Esau da, und wie durchsucht sind seine gutversteckten Schätze?
How Esau will be ransacked. How his hidden treasures are sought out.
7 Zurück bis zu der Grenze treiben dich all deine Bundesfreunde, und dich betrugen deine guten Freunde; sie überlisten dich, und die dein Brot verzehren, legen Fallen deinen Füßen. - Doch Edom selber merkt dies nicht.
All the men of your alliance have brought you on your way, even to the border. The men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you. Those who eat bread with you lay a snare under you. There is no understanding in him."
8 "Wird's nicht an jenem Tage sein", ein Spruch des Herrn, "als hätte ich aus Edom weise Männer, aus dem Gebirge Esaus Einsicht weggenommen?
"Won't I in that day," says the LORD, "destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau?
9 Dann zittern deine Krieger, Teman, weil vom Gebirge Esaus jeder Mann vernichtet wird."
Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter.
10 Für grausames Erwürgen deines Bruders Jakob deckt dich Schande und trifft dich immerwährende Vernichtung. -
For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be cut off forever.
11 Am Tag, da du dabeigestanden, am Tag, da Fremdlinge sein Heer wegführten, in seine Tore Fremde drangen und um Jerusalem die Lose warfen, da warst auch du wie irgendwer von ihnen.
In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them.
12 "Du hättest dich nicht freuen sollen an deines Bruders Unglück, an seinem Unglückstage. Du hättest nicht frohlocken sollen über Judas Söhne am Tage ihres Untergangs, nicht harte Worte sprechen sollen am Tage der Bedrängnis.
But do not look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and do not rejoice over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction. Do not speak proudly in the day of distress.
13 Du hättest nicht in meines Volkes Tore dringen sollen an seinem Unglückstage. Du hättest nicht die Hand an seine Habe legen sollen an seinem Unglückstage.
Do not enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Do not look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity.
14 Du hättest dich an seinen Breschen nicht aufstellen sollen, um seine Flüchtlinge zu würgen, und hättest nimmer die Entronnenen am Tag der Not abfangen sollen."
Do not stand in the crossroads to cut off those of his who escape. Do not deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.
15 Der Tag des Herrn kommt ja für alle Heidenvölker. - "Wie du getan, wird dir geschehn; dein Tun fällt auf dein Haupt zurück." -
For the day of the LORD is near all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head.
16 "Ja, so wie ihr den Kelch auf meinem heiligen Berge trinken müßt, so müssen alle Heiden auch der Reihe nach ihn trinken. Sie trinken und beschmutzen sich und sind, als ob sie nie gewesen."
For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will all the nations drink continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they had not been.
17 Auf Sions Berg jedoch wird Rettung sein, ein heiliger Sitz, und Jakobs Haus nimmt ihre Güter in Besitz. -
But in Mount Zion, there will be those who escape, and it will be holy. The house of Jacob will possess those who dispossessed them.
18 Denn Jakobs Haus ist dann ein Feuer, eine Flamme Josephs Haus und Esaus Haus ein Strohbündel, das jene anzünden und aufzehren. Von Esaus Haus entrinnt nicht einer. Der Herr hat's ja gesagt. -
The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them, and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau." Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
19 "Sie nehmen in Besitz den Süden samt dem Esauberg, die Ebene mit Philistäa und das Gefilde Ephraims und das Gefilde von Samaria und Benjamin samt Gilead.
Those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.
20 Und jene so verlassene Gefangenschaft der Söhne Israels besetzt der Kanaaniter Land bis nach Sarepta hin, und die Gefangnen aus Jerusalem, die in Sepharad sind, sie nehmen in Besitz des Südens Städte." -
The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev.
21 Als Sieger ziehen sie den Sionsberg hinan, um über die vom Esauberg Gericht zu halten. Dann tritt der Herr die Königsherrschaft wieder an.
Those who have been saved will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be the LORD's.
