4 Mose 13
1 Und der Herr redete mit Moses also:
And there, the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 "Entsende Männer, daß sie das Land von Kanaan auskundschaften, das ich den Söhnen Israels geben will! Je einen aus dem Stamm seiner Väter sollt ihr senden, jeder unter ihnen ein Fürst!"
“Send men, who may examine the land of Canaan, which I will give to the sons of Israel, one from the rulers of each tribe.”
3 So entsandte sie Moses aus der Wüste Paran nach des Herrn Befehl, lauter Männer, die Häupter der Israeliten waren.
Moses did what the Lord had commanded, sending, from the desert of Paran, leading men, whose names are these:
4 Dies sind ihre Namen: vom Stamme Ruben: Sammua, Zakkurs Sohn;
from the tribe of Ruben, Shammua the son of Zaccur;
5 vom Stamme Simeon: Saphat, Choris Sohn;
from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori;
6 vom Stamme Juda: Kaleb, Jephunnes Sohn,
from the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh;
7 Vom Stamme Issakar: Igal, Josephs Sohn;
from the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph;
8 vom Stamme Ephraim: Hosea, Nuns Sohn;
from the tribe of Ephraim, Hosea the son of Nun;
9 vom Stamme Benjamin: Palti, Raphus Sohn;
from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu;
10 vom Stamme Zabulon: Gaddiel, Sodis Sohn;
from the tribe of Zebulon, Gaddiel the son of Sodi;
11 vom Stamme Joseph: vom Stamme Manasse Gaddi, Susis Sohn;
from the tribe of Joseph, of the scepter of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi;
12 vom Stamme Dan: Ammiel, Gemallis Sohn;
from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli;
13 vom Stamme Asser: Setur, Michaels Sohn;
from the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael;
14 vom Stamme Naphtali: Nachbi, Wophsis Sohn;
from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi;
15 vom Stamme Gad: Geuel, Makis Sohn.
from the tribe of Gad, Guel the son of Machi.
16 Dies sind die Namen der Männer, die Moses zur Auskundschaftung des Landes, ausgesandt hat. Moses aber nannte Hosea, Nuns Sohn, Josue.
These are the names of the men, whom Moses sent to examine the land. And he called Hosea, the son of Nun, Joshua.
17 So sandte sie Moses aus, das Land Kanaan auszukundschaften. Er sprach zu ihnen: "Zieht in das Südland hier hinauf! Ersteigt das Gebirge!
And so, Moses sent them to examine the land of Canaan, and he said to them: “Ascend by the south side. And when you arrive at the mountains,
18 Beschauet das Land wie es ist und seht zu, und ob das Volk darin stark oder schwach, wenig oder zahlreich ist,
consider the land, as to what kind it may be, and the people, who are its inhabitants, whether they may be strong or weak, whether they may be few in number or many,
19 und wie die Gegend, in der es wohnt, ob schön oder häßlich, und wie die Städte sind, die es bewohnt, ob sie in Dörfern oder festen Städten wohnen,
and the land itself, whether it is good or bad, what kind of cities, walled or without walls,
20 und wie der Boden ist, ob mager oder fett, ob Bäume daraufstehen oder nicht! So gebt euch Mühe und nehmt aus dem Lande ein paar Früchte mit!" Es war nämlich gerade die Zeit der ersten Weintrauben.
the soil, rich or barren, forested or without trees. Be strong, and bring us some of the fruits of the land.” Now it was the time when the first ripe grapes were ready to be eaten.
21 Da zogen sie hinauf und durchforschten das Land von der Wüste Sin bis Rechob, Chamat zu.
And when they had ascended, they explored the land from the desert of Sin, all the way to Rehob, as one enters into Hamath.
22 Dann zogen sie in das Südland bis Chebron hinauf. Dort waren Achiman, Sesai und Talmai, die Enaksprößlinge. An Chebron aber war sieben Jahre, vor Tanis in Ägypten, gebaut worden.
And they ascended by the south side. And they arrived at Hebron, where there were Ahiman and Shishai and Talmai, the sons of Anak. For Hebron was founded seven years before Tanis, the city of Egypt.
23 Sie kamen nun in das Traubental und schnitten dort eine Rebe mit einer einzigen Traube ab und trugen sie zu zweien an einer Stange, auch Granatäpfel und Feigen.
And continuing on as far as the Torrent of the Cluster of Grapes, they cut off a vine with its grapes, which two men carried on a board. Likewise, they took from the pomegranates and the figs of that place,
24 Jenen Ort nannte man das Traubental wegen der Traube, die dort die Israeliten geschnitten hatten.
which was called Nehel Eshcol, that is, the Torrent of the Cluster of Grapes, because the sons of Israel had carried a cluster of grapes from there.
25 Nach vierzig Tagen kehrten sie von der Auskundschaftung des Landes zurück.
And those exploring the land returned after forty days, having circulated through the entire region.
26 Sie zogen heim und kamen zu Moses, Aaron und der israelitischen Gesamtgemeinde in die Wüste Paran nach Kades. Sie brachten ihnen und der ganzen Gemeinschaft Bescheid und zeigten ihnen des Landes Früchte.
And they went to Moses and Aaron, and to the entire assembly of the sons of Israel in the desert of Paran, which is in Kadesh. And speaking to them, and to the entire multitude, they showed them the fruits of the land.
27 Und sie erzählten ihnen und sprachen: "Wir sind in das Land gekommen, in das du uns gesandt hast. Wahr ist es: Es fließt von Milch und Honig, und dies sind seine Früchte.
And they explained, saying: “We went into the land, to which you sent us, which, it is true, flows with milk and honey, as one can know by these fruits.
28 Nur, daß das Volk im Lande trotzig und die Städte fest und sehr groß sind. Auch haben wir dort die Enaksprößlinge erblickt.
But it has very strong occupants, and the cities are great and also walled. We saw the race of Anak there.
29 Im Südland wohnt Amalek, auf dem Gebirge die Chittiter, Jebusiter und Amoriter, am Meer und am Jordan die Kanaaniter."
Amalek lives in the south. The Hethite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite live in the mountains. And truly, the Canaanite stays near the sea and around the streams of the Jordan.”
30 Da drängte sich Kaleb durch das Volk zu Moses und sprach: "Wir wollen dennoch hinaufziehen und es erobern. Wir können es gut bewältigen."
During these events, Caleb, to restrain the murmuring of the people who rose up against Moses, said, “Let us ascend and possess the land, for we will be able to obtain it.”
31 Aber die Männer, die mit ihm hinaufgezogen, sprachen: "Wir können gegen dieses Volk nicht ziehen. Es ist für uns viel zu stark."
Yet truly, the others, who had been with him, were saying, “By no means are we able to ascend to this people, because they are stronger than we are.”
32 Und sie berichteten den Israeliten Schlimmes über das Land, das sie ausgekundschaftet hatten, und sprachen: "Das Land, das wir zur Erkundung durchzogen haben, überfüttert seine Einwohner. Alle Leute, die wir darin gesehen, sind ungewöhnlich groß.
And before the sons of Israel they disparaged the land, which they had inspected, saying: “The land, which we viewed, devours its inhabitants. The people, upon whom we gazed, were of lofty stature.
33 Wir haben dort die Riesen geschaut, die Enaksöhne unter den Riesen. Wir kamen uns vor wie Heuschrecken. Auch ihnen sind wir so vorgekommen."
There, we saw some monsters among the sons of Anak, of the race of giants; by comparison with them, we seemed like locusts.”
