1 Und der Herr redete mit Moses in der Wüste Sinai im Festgezelt am ersten Tage des zweiten Monats im zweiten Jahre nach ihrem Auszug aus dem Land Ägypten:

Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 "Erhebt die Gesamtzahl der israelitischen Gesamtgemeinde nach ihren Sippen und Familien, in Namenszählung, alles Männliche aber nach der Kopfzahl!

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one,

3 Von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber sollt ihr in Israel alle Kampffähigen nach ihren Scharen mustern, du und Aaron!

from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall count them by their divisions.

4 Euch zugesellt soll für jeden Stamm je einer sein, und zwar sei es das Familienoberhaupt!

With you there shall be a man of every tribe, each one head of his fathers’ house.

5 Dies sind die Namen der Männer, die euch beistehen sollen: für Ruben: Elisur, Sedeurs Sohn;

These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 für Simeon: Selumiel, Surisaddais Sohn;

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 für Juda: Amminadabs Sohn Nachson;

Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 für Issakar: Suars Sohn Netanel;

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 für Zabulon: Chelons Sohn Eliab;

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10 für die Josephssöhne: von Ephraim Elisama, Ammihuds Sohn, von Manasse Pedahsurs Sohn Gamliel;

Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 für Benjamin: Gidonis Sohn Abidan;

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 für Dan: Ammisaddais Sohn Achiezer;

Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 für Asser: Okrans Sohn Pagiel;

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14 für Gad: Reuels Sohn Eljasaph;

Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15 für Naphtali: Enans Sohn Achira."

Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.”

16 Dies waren die Berufenen der Gemeinde, die Fürsten ihrer väterlichen Stämme, die Häupter der Sippen Israels.

These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17 So nahm Moses mit Aaron diese namentlich bezeichneten Männer.

Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18 Die Gesamtgemeinde aber versammelten sie am ersten des zweiten Monats. Da trugen sie sich nach der Geburt in ihren Sippen familienweise ein, in Namenszählung, Kopf für Kopf, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.

They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19 Wie der Herr dem Moses befohlen, so musterte er sie in der Wüste Sinai.

As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he counted them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 Die Söhne Rubens, des Erstgeborenen Israels, entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung, Kopf für Kopf, alles Männliche, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, alle Wehrpflichtigen,

The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

21 ihre aus dem Stamme Ruben Ausgemusterten, 46.500.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred.

22 Von den Söhnen Simeons entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien die Gemusterten unter schriftlicher Namensaufnahme, Kopf für Kopf, alles Männliche, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were counted of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

23 ihre aus dem Stamme Simeon Ausgemusterten, 59.300.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

24 Von den Söhnen Gads entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

25 ihre aus dem Stamme Gad Ausgemusterten, 45.650.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

26 Von den Söhnen Judas entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

27 ihre aus dem Stamme Juda Ausgemusterten, 74.600.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

28 Von den Söhnen Issakars entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

29 ihre aus dem Stamme Issakar Ausgemusterten, 54.400.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

30 Von den Söhnen Zabulons entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

31 ihre aus dem Stamme Zabulon Ausgemusterten, 57.400.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

32 Von den Josephssöhnen, von den Söhnen Ephraims entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Joseph: of the children of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

33 ihre aus dem Stamme Ephraim Ausgemusterten, 40.500.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand five hundred.

34 Von den Söhnen Manasses entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

35 ihre aus dem Stamme Manasse Ausgemusterten, 32.200.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

36 Von den Söhnen Benjamins entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

37 ihre aus dem Stamme Benjamin Ausgemusterten, 35.400.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.

38 Von den Söhnen Dans entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

39 ihre aus dem Stamme Dan Ausgemusterten, 62.700.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 Von den Söhnen Assers entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtern, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

41 ihre aus dem Stamme Asser Ausgemusterten, 41.500.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 Von den Söhnen Naphtalis entsprachen in ihren Geschlechtem, Sippen und Familien in Namenszählung von zwanzig Jahren und darüber alle Wehrpflichtigen,

Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

43 ihre aus dem Stamme Naphtali Ausgemusterten, 53.400.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

44 Dies sind die Ausgemusterten, die Moses und Aaron gemustert haben, sowie die Fürsten Israels, zwölf Mann, je einer für seine Familie.

These are those who were counted, whom Moses and Aaron counted, and the twelve men who were princes of Israel, each one for his fathers’ house.

45 Alle, familienweise von zwanzig Jahren und darüber gemusterten Israeliten wurden sämtlich in Israel wehrpflichtig.

So all those who were counted of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel—

46 Aller Gemusterten waren es 603.550.

all those who were counted were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

47 Die Leviten aber waren nach ihrem väterlichen Stamme nicht mit ihnen gemustert worden.

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not counted among them.

48 Der Herr hatte nämlich zu Moses gesagt:

For Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

49 "Du darfst den Levitenstamm in keiner Weise mustern. Ihre Gesamtzahl sollst du bei Israels Söhnen nicht aufnehmen!

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not count, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel;

50 Dagegen beauftrage du die Leviten über die Wohnung des Zeugnisses, über alle ihre Geräte und alles, was dazu gehört! Sie sollen die Wohnung und alle ihre Geräte tragen! Pflegen sollen sie diese! Darum sollen sie rings um die Wohnung lagern!

but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.

51 Setzt sich die Wohnung in Bewegung, dann sollen die Leviten sie auseinandernehmen, und lagert sich die Wohnung, dann sollen die Leviten sie erstellen! Ein Fremder, der hinzutritt, soll des Todes sterben!

When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

52 Die anderen Israeliten sollen lagern, jeder in seinem Lager und jeder bei seiner Fahne, nach ihren Scharen!

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.

53 Die Leviten aber sollen um die Wohnung des Zeugnisses lagern, daß kein Zorn über die israelitische Gemeinschaft komme! Darum sollen die Leviten die Wache an der Wohnung des Zeugnisses übernehmen!"

But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel. The Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”

54 Die Israeliten taten so. Genau so wie der Herr dem Moses geboten, also taten sie.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they did.
