Mica 5

1 Jetzt aber wirst du, Tochter der Absonderung, ganz abgesondert werden. Man schließt uns ein mit einem Wall; man schlägt mit einem Stocke die Richter Israels auf ihre Wange.

Now thou shall gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

2 "Du aber, Bethlehem, einst Ephrata genannt! Du bist ja zu gering, um unter Judas Gauen mitzuzählen. Aus dir entsprießt mir aber Einer, um Herrscher über Israel zu werden. Sein Ursprung stammt aus grauer Zeit, aus alten Tagen."

But thou, Bethlehem Ephrathah, which are little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee he shall come forth to me who is to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

3 Nur deshalb gibt man sie so lange hin, bis eine, die gebären soll, gebiert. Und seiner Brüder Rest kehrt zu den Söhnen Israels zurück.

Therefore he will give them up until the time that she who travails has brought forth. Then the residue of his brothers shall return to the sons of Israel.

4 Dann tritt er auf und weidet in der Kraft des Herrn, im hoheitsvollen Namen seines Herrn und Gottes. Sie wohnen sicher; groß steht er bis an der Erde Enden da.

And he shall stand, and shall feed his flock in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God, and they shall abide. For now he shall be great to the ends of the earth.

5 Er selbst ist Friede. Wenn aber der Assyrer unser Land betritt, wenn er in unsere Berge dringen will, dann stellt er ihm entgegen sieben Hirten, acht Völkerführer.

And this man shall be our peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then we shall raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

6 Sie weiden Assurs Landschaft mit dem Schwert und Nimrodland mit offener Klinge. Und so befreit er vom Assyrer uns, wenn dieser unser Land betritt und seinen Fuß in unsere Grenzen setzt.

And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances of it. And he shall deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our border.

7 Und Jakobs Rest gleicht mitten unter großen Völkern dann dem Tau, der von dem Herren kommt, den Regentropfen auf dem Gras, die nicht auf Menschen warten müssen und nicht auf Menschenkinder harren.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarry not for man, nor wait for the sons of men.

8 Und Jakobs Rest gleicht bei den Heiden inmitten großer Völker einem Löwen bei des Waldes Tieren, dem jungen Leu bei einer Herde Schafe, der, wenn er sie durchläuft, sie niederwirft und rettungslos zerreißt.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

9 Mög Deine Hand obsiegen über alle Deine Widersacher; zugrundegehen sollen alle Deine Feinde! -

Let thy hand be lifted up above thine adversaries, and let all thine enemies be cut off.

10 "An jenem Tag geschieht's", ein Spruch des Herrn, "da tilge ich aus deiner Mitte deine Rosse, zerbreche deine Wagen,

And it shall come to pass in that day, says Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and will destroy thy chariots,

11 zerstöre deines Landes Städte, schleife alle deine Festen.

and I will cut off the cities of thy land, and will throw down all thy strongholds.

12 Aus deiner Hand vertilge ich die Zauberdinge, auf daß nicht Zeichendeuter bei dir seien.

And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy hand, and thou shall have no more soothsayers.

13 Aus deiner Mitte schaff' ich deine Götzenbilder, deine Säulen weg. Dann fällst du nicht mehr hin vor deiner Hände Werk.

And I will cut off thy graven images and thy pillars out of the midst of thee, and thou shall no more worship the work of thy hands.

14 Aus deiner Mitte reiße ich die Pfähle aus und tilge deine Haine.

And I will pluck up thine Asherim out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.

15 Ich nehme Rache an den Heiden voller Zorn und Grimm, weil sie nicht hören wollen."

And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that did not hearken.
