Matthaeus 6
1 "Hütet euch, daß ihr eure Gerechtigkeit vor den Menschen übt, um euch vor ihnen zur Schau zu stellen. Ihr würdet sonst keinen Lohn erhalten von eurem Vater, der in den Himmeln ist.
“Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 Gibst du also Almosen, posaune es nicht aus, wie es die Heuchler in den Synagogen und auf den Straßen machen, um von den Menschen Ruhm zu ernten. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Sie haben ihren Lohn empfangen.
So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
3 Sooft du also Almosen geben willst, soll deine Linke nicht wissen, was deine Rechte tut,
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 damit dein Almosen im Verborgenen bleibe. Und dein Vater, der ins Verborgene sieht, wird es dir vergelten.
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
5 Auch wenn ihr betet, sollt ihr es nicht machen wie die Heuchler. Sie beten am liebsten in den Synagogen und an den Straßenecken, um sich den Menschen zu zeigen. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Sie haben ihren Lohn empfangen.
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
6 Sooft du also betest, geh in deine innerste Kammer, schließe noch die Türe zu und bete zu deinem Vater, der im Verborgenen ist. Und dein Vater, der ins Verborgene sieht, wird es dir vergelten.
But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
7 Beim Beten sollt ihr auch nicht plappern wie die Heiden. Diese meinen nämlich, sie würden dann Erhörung finden, wenn sie recht viele Worte machen.
And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.
8 Macht es nicht so wie diese. Euer Vater weiß ja, was ihr braucht, noch bevor ihr ihn gebeten habt.
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
9 Ihr aber sollt also beten: 'Vater unser, der du bist im Himmel, geheiligt werde Dein Name.
So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
10 Zu uns komme Dein Reich. Dein Wille geschehe, wie im Himmel also auch auf Erden.
Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Unser tägliches Brot gib uns heute.
Give us this day our daily bread.
12 Vergib uns unsere Schuld, wie auch wir vergeben unsern Schuldigern.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung, sondern erlöse uns von dem Übel.'
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
14 Wenn ihr den Menschen ihre Fehler vergebt, so wird euer himmlischer Vater auch euch vergeben.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 Vergebet aber ihr den Menschen ihre Fehler nicht, so wird euch euer Vater eure Fehler nicht vergeben.
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours.
16 Und wenn ihr Fasten haltet, so dürft ihr nicht trübselig erscheinen wie die Heuchler. Sie entstellen nämlich ihr Angesicht, damit die Menschen sehen, daß sie fasten. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Sie haben ihren Lohn empfangen.
When you fast, do not be somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
17 Du aber, wenn du fastest, salbe dein Haupt und wasche dein Gesicht,
But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
18 damit die Menschen nicht merken, daß du fastest, vielmehr nur dein Vater, der im Verborgenen ist. Und dein Vater, der ins Verborgene sieht, wird es dir vergelten.
so that your fasting will not be obvious to men, but only to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
19 Häufet euch nicht Schätze an auf Erden, wo Motten und Nager sie vernichten, wo Diebe einbrechen und stehlen.
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 Häuft euch Schätze an im Himmel, wo keine Motte und kein Nager sie vernichtet und wo keine Diebe einbrechen und sie stehlen.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 Denn wo dein Schatz ist, da ist auch dein Herz.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 Die Leuchte deines Leibes ist das Auge. Ist also dein Auge lauter, so wird dein ganzer Leib erleuchtet sein;
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
23 Ist dein Auge jedoch krank, dann wird dein ganzer Leib verfinstert sein. Ist aber das Licht in dir zur Finsternis geworden, wie groß muß diese Finsternis dann sein.
But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 Niemand kann zwei Herren dienen; entweder haßt er den einen und liebt den anderen, oder er hält es mit dem einen und verachtet den anderen; ihr könnet nicht Gott dienen und dem Mammon.
No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25 So sage ich denn euch: Sorget nicht ängstlich für euer Leben, was ihr essen oder trinken sollet; auch nicht für euern Leib, womit ihr ihn bekleiden sollet. Ist denn das Leben nicht weit mehr wert als die Nahrung und der Leib mehr als die Kleidung?
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Schaut hin auf die Vögel des Himmels: Sie säen nicht, sie ernten nicht, sie sammeln nicht in Speicher, und doch ernährt sie euer himmlischer Vater. Seid ihr nicht viel mehr wert als sie?
Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Wer aus euch kann denn mit seinem Sorgen seine Lebenszeit auch nur um eine Elle verlängern?
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
28 Und was seid ihr um die Kleidung so besorgt? Betrachtet die Lilien des Feldes, wie sie wachsen; sie schaffen nicht, sie spinnen nicht.
And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin.
29 Ich sage euch aber: Nicht einmal Salomon in seiner ganzen Herrlichkeit war so gekleidet wie eine einzige aus ihnen.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.
30 Wenn Gott das Gras des Feldes, das heute steht und schon morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, also kleidet, um wieviel mehr dann euch, ihr Kleingläubigen.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 So sprechet also nicht in Sorgen: 'Was werden wir essen?' Oder: 'Was werden wir trinken?' Oder: 'Womit werden wir uns kleiden?'
Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 Um alles dies bekümmern sich die Heiden. Denn euer himmlischer Vater weiß wohl, daß ihr all das braucht.
For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 Suchet vor allem das Reich Gottes und seine Gerechtigkeit, dann wird euch dies alles dazugegeben werden.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
34 Sorgt also nicht ängstlich für morgen. Der morgige Tag wird für sich selber sorgen; genug, daß jeder Tag seine eigene Plage hat."
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
