Matthaeus 17
1 Sechs Tage später nahm Jesus den Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes, dessen Bruder, mit sich und führte sie abseits auf einen hohen Berg.
After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.
2 Und er ward vor ihnen verwandelt: Sein Antlitz glänzte wie die Sonne, und seine Kleider wurden leuchtend wie das Licht.
He was changed before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.
3 Und siehe, es erschienen ihnen Moses und Elias, die sich mit ihm unterredeten.
Behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him.
4 Und Petrus nahm das Wort und sprach zu Jesus: "Herr, wie schön ist es doch, daß wir hier sind. Willst du, so will ich hier drei Hütten bauen: Dir eine, dem Moses eine und dem Elias eine."
Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let’s make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5 Noch sprach er so und schon kam der Schatten einer lichten Wolke über sie, und eine Stimme aus der Wolke sprach: "Das ist mein vielgeliebter Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe. Auf diesen sollt ihr hören."
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
6 Als die Jünger dies hörten, fielen sie auf ihr Antlitz nieder und gerieten in gewaltige Furcht.
When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.
7 Doch Jesus trat herzu, berührte sie und sprach: "Steht auf, seid ohne Furcht!"
Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up, and don’t be afraid.”
8 Und sie erhoben ihre Augen und sahen niemand mehr als Jesus allein.
Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.
9 Während sie vom Berge niederstiegen, befahl ihnen Jesus: "Sagt niemand etwas von dem Gesichte, bis der Menschensohn von den Toten auferstanden ist."
As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Don’t tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.”
10 Da fragten ihn die Jünger: "Wie ist es denn, wenn die Schriftgelehrten sagen, vorher müsse noch Elias kommen?"
His disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
11 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Elias kommt allerdings, und er wird alles wiederherstellen;
Jesus answered them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things;
12 ja, ich sage euch: Elias ist schon gekommen. Doch man hat ihn nicht erkannt und mit ihm angefangen, was man wollte. Geradeso wird auch der Menschensohn durch sie zu leiden haben."
but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them.”
13 Die Jünger begriffen jetzt, daß er zu ihnen von Johannes dem Täufer gesprochen habe.
Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptizer.
14 Als sie zum Volke gekommen waren, da trat ein Mann vor ihn
When they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him and saying,
15 und bat ihn auf den Knien: "Herr, erbarme dich meines Sohnes! Er ist mondsüchtig und hat arg zu leiden. Oft fällt er in das Feuer, oft ins Wasser.
“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.
16 Ich brachte ihn deinen Jüngern; doch diese konnten ihn nicht heilen."
So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.”
17 Und Jesus sprach: "Du ungläubiges und ganz verkehrtes Geschlecht. Wie lang noch muß ich bei euch bleiben? Wie lang noch muß ich euch ertragen? Bringt ihn her zu mir!"
Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.”
18 Alsdann gebot ihm Jesus, und der Dämon fuhr aus von ihm. So war der Knabe von jener Stunde an geheilt.
Jesus rebuked the demon, and it went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.
19 Da traten die Jünger insgeheim zu Jesus hin und fragten ihn: "Warum konnten wir ihn nicht austreiben?"
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?”
20 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Weil ihr so wenig Glauben habt. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr Glauben habt so groß nur wie ein Senfkorn, so könnt ihr zu diesem Berge sagen: 'Rück weg von hier, dorthin!' Und er wird weggehen. Gar nichts wird euch unmöglich sein.
He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
21 Doch diese Art wird nur durch Beten und Fasten ausgetrieben."
But this kind doesn’t go out except by prayer and fasting.”
22 Solange sie in Galiläa wanderten, sprach Jesus zu ihnen: "Der Menschensohn wird in die Hände der Menschen überliefert werden;
While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,
23 man wird ihn töten, doch am dritten Tage wird er auferstehen." Da wurden sie sehr traurig.
and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” They were exceedingly sorry.
24 Als sie dann nach Kapharnaum gekommen waren, traten die Einnehmer der Doppeldrachme zu Petrus hin und fragten ihn: "Bezahlt euer Meister denn die Doppeldrachme nicht?"
When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachma coins came to Peter, and said, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the didrachma?”
25 Er sagte: "Doch." Kaum war er in das Haus gekommen, als Jesus ihm zuvorkam mit der Frage: "Was meinst du, Simon, von wem nehmen die Könige der Erde Zoll und Steuer, von ihren Söhnen oder von den Fremden?"
He said, “Yes.” When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their children, or from strangers?”
26 "Von den Fremden!" gab er zur Antwort. Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: "So sind die Söhne demnach frei.
Peter said to him, “From strangers.” Jesus said to him, “Therefore the children are exempt.
27 Wir aber wollen ihnen keinen Anstoß geben. Geh an das Meer und wirf die Angel aus und nimm den ersten Fisch, der in die Höhe kommt. Öffne ihm das Maul, darin wirst du einen Stater finden; mit dem bezahle dann für mich und dich."
But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin. Take that, and give it to them for me and you.”
