Markus 7
1 Da kamen zu ihm Pharisäer und einige Schriftgelehrte aus Jerusalem.
One day the Pharisees and some of the teachers of the Law who had come from Jerusalem gathered round Jesus.
2 Und da sie sahen, daß etliche seiner Jünger mit "gemeinen", das heißt mit ungewaschenen, Händen ihre Mahlzeit hielten
They had noticed that some of his disciples ate their food with their hands “defiled,” by which they meant unwashed.
3 (-die Pharisäer und die Juden überhaupt essen nämlich nicht, ehe sie sich die Hände nicht mit einer Handvoll Wasser gewaschen haben, getreu der Überlieferung der Alten.
(For the Pharisees, and indeed all strict Jews, will not eat without first scrupulously washing their hands, holding in this to the traditions of their ancestors.
4 Auch wenn sie von dem Markt kommen, so essen sie nicht, ohne sich gewaschen zu haben. Auch sonst gibt es noch vieles andere, was sie streng nach der Überlieferung beobachten: Abspülung von Bechern, Krügen, Kesseln Bettgestellen.-),
When they come from market, they will not eat without first sprinkling themselves; and there are many other customs which they have inherited and hold to, such as the ceremonial washing of cups, and jugs, and copper pans).
5 fragten die Pharisäer und die Schriftgelehrten ihn also: "Warum leben deine Jünger nicht nach der Überlieferung der Alten, sondern essen mit 'gemeinen' Händen?"
So the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law asked Jesus this question – ‘How is it that your disciples do not follow the traditions of our ancestors, but eat their food with defiled hands?’
6 Da sagte er zu ihnen: "Richtig hat Isaias über euch, ihr Heuchler, schon geweissagt; denn also steht geschrieben: 'Dieses Volk ehrt mich mit den Lippen; ihr Herz jedoch ist weit von mir;
His answer was, ‘It was well said by Isaiah when he prophesied about you hypocrites in the words – “This is a people who honour me with their lips, while their hearts are far removed from me;
7 nichtig ist ihr Gottesdienst; Menschensatzungen machen sie zu ihrer Lehre.'
but vainly do they worship me, For they teach but human precepts.”
8 Ihr gebt das Gebot Gottes preis und haltet euch an die Überlieferung der Menschen; Abspülung von Krügen, Bechern und vieles andere dergleichen tut ihr."
You neglect God’s commandments and hold to human traditions.
9 Er fuhr dann fort: "Gar trefflich schiebt ihr das Gebot Gottes beiseite, um eure Überlieferung zu wahren.
Wisely do you set aside God’s commandments,’ he exclaimed, ‘to keep your own traditions!
10 Moses hat einst geboten: 'Du sollst Vater und Mutter ehren!' und 'Wer Vater oder Mutter schmäht, soll sterben!'
For while Moses said “Honour your father and your mother,” and “Let anyone who abuses their father or mother suffer death,”
11 Ihr aber sagt: 'Wer zu Vater oder Mutter spricht: Was ich dir zu leisten hätte, ist 'korban' - d. h. Opfergabe -,
you say “If a person says to their father or mother ‘Whatever of mine might have been of service to you is Corban’” (which means “Set apart for God”) –
12 dann laßt ihr ihn für Vater oder Mutter nichts mehr tun.
why, then you do not allow them to do anything further for their father or mother!
13 Also entkräftet ihr, was Gott gesprochen hat, durch eure Überlieferung, die ihr überliefert habt. Und dergleichen treibt ihr noch viel."
In this way you nullify the words of God by your traditions, which you hand down; and you do many similar things.’
14 Er rief sodann die Scharen wieder zu sich her und sprach zu ihnen: "Hört alle und versteht es wohl.
Then Jesus called the people to him again, and said, ‘Listen to me, all of you, and mark my words.
15 Nichts gibt es, was von außen in den Menschen kommt und ihn unrein machen könnte; nein, was vom Menschen ausgeht, das macht den Menschen unrein.
There is nothing external to a person, which by going into them can defile them; but the things that come out of a person are the things that defile them.’
16 Wer Ohren hat zu hören, der höre!"
17 Als er von der Menge weg ins Haus getreten war, da fragten ihn die Jünger nach dem Gleichnis.
When Jesus went indoors, away from the crowd, his disciples began questioning him about this saying.
18 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Seid denn auch ihr immer noch unverständig? Versteht ihr wirklich nicht, daß, was immer von außen in den Menschen kommt, ihn nicht unrein machen kann,
‘What, do even you understand so little?’ exclaimed Jesus. ‘Don’t you see that there is nothing external to a person, which by going into a person, can defile them,
19 weil es nicht in sein Herz eingeht, sondern in den Magen und den naturgemäßen Ausgang nimmt." - Alle Speisen erklärte er damit für rein. -
because it does not pass into his heart, but into his stomach, and is afterwards got rid of?’ – in saying this Jesus pronounced all food clean.
20 "Was aber aus dem Menschen kommt", so fuhr er fort, "das macht den Menschen unrein.
‘It is what comes out from a person,’ he added, ‘that defiles them,
21 Von innen, aus den Herzen der Menschen, gehen schändliche Gedanken, Unzucht, Diebstahl, Mord,
for it is from within, out of the hearts of people, that there come evil thoughts – sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,
22 Ehebruch, Habgier, Bosheit, Arglist, Ausschweifung, Neid, Lästerung, Hochmut, Unverstand hervor.
greed, wickedness, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, haughtiness, folly;
23 Alle diese bösen Dinge kommen aus dem Innern, und sie machen den Menschen unrein."
all these wicked things come from within, and do defile a person.’
24 Dann brach er auf und ging von dort hinweg ins Land von Tyrus und Sidon. Er begab sich in ein Haus, doch wollte er es niemand wissen lassen; allein er konnte nicht verborgen bleiben.
On leaving that place, Jesus went to the district of Tyre and Sidon. He went into a house, and did not wish anyone to know it, but could not escape notice.
25 Ein Weib, dessen Töchterchen von einem unreinen Geist besessen war, hatte schon von ihm erfahren. Sie kam herzu und fiel ihm zu Füßen.
For a woman, whose little daughter had a foul spirit in her, heard of him immediately, and came and threw herself at his feet –
26 Das Weib war eine Heidin und stammte aus dem syrischen Phönizien. Sie bat ihn, daß er den Dämon aus ihrer Tochter austreibe.
the woman was a foreigner, from Syrian Phoenicia – and she begged him to drive the demon out of her daughter.
27 Er aber sprach zu ihr: "Laß doch die Kinder erst einmal gesättigt werden! Es ist nicht recht, den Kindern das Brot wegzunehmen und es den Hunden vorzuwerfen."
‘Let the children be satisfied first,’ answered Jesus. ‘For it is not fair to take the children’s food, and throw it to dogs.’
28 Doch sie entgegnete und sprach zu ihm: "Gewiß, o Herr! Doch auch die Hunde unterm Tisch fressen, was die Kinder übriglassen."
‘Yes, Master,’ she replied. ‘Even the dogs under the table do feed on the children’s crumbs.’
29 Da sagte er zu ihr: "Um dieses Wortes willen geh heim! Der Dämon ist aus deiner Tochter ausgefahren."
‘For saying that,’ he answered, ‘you may go. The demon has gone out of your daughter.’
30 Sie ging nach Hause, fand das Kind auf seinem Bett liegen; der Dämon war wirklich ausgefahren.
The woman went home, and found the child lying on her bed, and the demon gone.
31 Und er verließ das Land von Tyrus wieder und begab sich über Sidon mitten in das Gebiet der Dekapolis hinein an das Meer von Galiläa.
On returning from the district of Tyre, Jesus went, by way of Sidon, to the Sea of Galilee, across the district of the Ten Towns.
32 Da brachte man ihm einen Tauben, der zugleich stumm war, und bat ihn, daß er ihm die Hand auflege.
Some people brought to him a man who was deaf and almost dumb, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him.
33 Er nahm ihn aus der Menge weg, abseits, und legte ihm seine Finger in die Ohren, berührte seine Zunge mit Speichel,
Jesus took him aside from the crowd quietly, put his fingers into the man’s ears, and touched his tongue with saliva.
34 schaute zum Himmel auf, seufzte und sprach zu ihm: "Effetha!" das heißt: Tu dich auf!
Then, looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to the man, ‘Ephphatha!’ which means “Be opened.”
35 Und sogleich waren ihm die Ohren aufgetan; gelöst war das Band seiner Zunge, und er konnte richtig sprechen.
The man’s ears were opened, the string of his tongue was freed, and he began to talk plainly.
36 Jedoch er verbot ihnen, dies weiter auszusagen; allein je strenger er es ihnen verwehrte, desto weiter machten sie es bekannt.
Jesus insisted on their not telling anyone; but the more he insisted, the more perseveringly they made it known,
37 Und man staunte über alle Maßen und sagte: "Er macht alles wohl; die Tauben macht er hören und die Stummen reden."
and a profound impression was made on the people. ‘He has done everything well!’ they exclaimed. ‘He makes even the deaf hear and the dumb speak!’
