Maleachi 1

1 Der Ausspruch eines Herrenworts an Israel durch Malachias:

The burden of the woorde of the Lord to Israel by the ministerie of Malachi.

2 "Ich liebe euch." So spricht der Herr. "Ihr aber fragt: 'Wodurch zeigst du uns Liebe?' Ja, war nicht Esau Jakobs Bruder?" Ein Spruch des Herrn. "Ich aber zeigte gegen Jakob Liebe, gegen Esau keine.

I haue loued you, sayth the Lord: yet yee say, Wherein hast thou loued vs? Was not Esau Iaakobs brother, saith the Lord? yet I loued Iaakob,

3 Ich habe seine Berge öd gemacht, sein Eigentum zu Wüsteneien.

And I hated Esau, and made his mountaines wast, and his heritage a wildernes for dragons.

4 Und spräche Edom: 'Wir sind vernichtet; doch bauen wir Zerstörtes wieder auf'", so spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: "Und wenn sie bauen, reiße ich es wieder ein; 'Verruchtes Land' wird man es nennen. 'Das Volk, dem ewig grollt der Herr'.

Though Edom say, wee are impouerished, but we will returne and build the desolate places, yet sayeth the Lord of hostes, they shall builde, but I will destroy it, and they shall call them, The border of wickednes, and the people, with whome the Lord is angrie for euer.

5 Und sehn dies eure Augen, so sprechet ihr: 'Der Herr ist groß, weit über Israels Gebiet hinaus.'

And your eyes shall see it, and yee shall say, The Lord will be magnified vpon the border of Israel.

6 Ein Sohn ehrt seinen Vater und ein Diener seinen Herrn. Nun, bin ich wirklich Vater, wo bleibt denn meine Ehrung? Und bin ich Herr, wo bleibt vor mir die Ehrfurcht?" So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen zu euch, ihr Priester: "Ihr Verächter meines Namens, ihr fragt dabei: 'Wodurch denn haben wir verachtet Deinen Namen?'

A sonne honoureth his father, and a seruant his master. If then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my feare, sayth the Lord of hostes vnto you, O Priestes, that despise my Name? and yee say, Wherein haue we despised thy Name?

7 Auf meinen Altar bringet ihr unreine Speise und fragt dabei: 'Wodurch denn haben wir Dich eigentlich gering behandelt?' Durch eure Reden: 'Der Tisch des Herrn ist nicht so vornehm.'

Ye offer vncleane bread vpon mine altar, and you say, Wherein haue we polluted thee? In that ye say the table of the Lord is not to be regarded.

8 Wenn ihr ein blindes Vieh zum Opfern bringt, ist das nichts Schlimmes? Bringt ihr ein lahmes oder krankes dar, ist das nichts Schlimmes? Bring solches deinem Statthalter, ob er dich freundlich aufnähme, ob er dich gnädiglich empfinge?" So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.

And if yee offer the blinde for sacrifice, it is not euill: and if ye offer the lame and sicke, it is not euill: offer it nowe vnto thy prince: will he be content with thee, or accept thy person, saieth the Lord of hostes?

9 "Nun sprechet ihr: 'Fleht doch zu Gott, daß er uns gnädig sei!' Von eurer Hand geschah ja solches, und da soll er euch freundlich sein?" So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen:

And nowe, I pray you, pray before God, that he may haue mercie vpon vs: this hath beene by your meanes: will hee regard your persons, sayth the Lord of hostes?

10 "Ach, schlösse jemand unter euch die Türen, damit ihr nicht umsonst mein Altarfeuer zündet! Es liegt mir nichts an euch", so spricht der Herr der Heerscharen. "Geschenke will ich nicht aus eurer Hand.

Who is there euen among you, that would shut the doores? and kindle not fire on mine altar in vaine, I haue no pleasure in you, sayeth the Lord of hostes, neither will I accept an offering at your hande.

11 Vom Sonnenaufgang bis zum Niedergang ist groß mein Name bei den Heiden. So wird an jedem Orte meinem Namen dargebracht ein Räucherwerk, ein reines Speiseopfer. Groß ist mein Name bei den Heiden." So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.

For from the rising of the sunne vnto the going downe of the same, my Name is great among the Gentiles, and in euery place incense shalbe offred vnto my Name, and a pure offering: for my Name is great among the heathen, sayeth the Lord of hostes.

12 "Doch ihr entweihet ihn; denn ihr sagt: 'Der Tisch des Herrn ist minderwertig. Was von ihm kommt, ist schlechte Speise.'

But ye haue polluted it, in that ye say, The table of the Lord is polluted and the fruit thereof, euen his meat is not to be regarded.

13 Ihr sagt: 'Wozu solch lästige Pflicht?' Ihr schätzet ihn gering", so spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, "und opfert, was zerrissen, lahm und krank, und opfert gleiches Speiseopfer. Ja, sollte mir denn solcherlei aus eurer Hand gefallen?" So spricht der Herr.

Ye said also, Beholde, it is a wearines, and ye haue snuffed at it, sayth the Lord of hostes, and ye offred that which was torne, and the lame and the sicke: thus yee offred an offring: shoulde I accept this of your hand, sayth the Lord?

14 "Verflucht sei der Betrüger, der ein gesundes Tier in seiner Herde hat und es gelobt und dann dem Herrn ein minderwertiges opfert. Ein großer König bin ich doch", so spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, "und bei den Heiden ist mein Name hochverehrt."

But cursed be the deceiuer, which hath in his flocke a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth vnto ye Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, sayth the Lord of hostes, and my Name is terrible among the heathen.
