1 Auf dem Gebirge Ephraim war ein Mann namens Micha.
And there was a man of the mountain of Ephraim, whose name was Michayhu.
2 Dieser sprach zu seiner Mutter: "Die elfhundert Silberringe, die dir entwendet worden sind und derentwegen du geflucht und es laut vor mir gesagt hast, dies Geld ist bei mir. Ich habe es entwendet." Da sprach seine Mutter "Mein Sohn! Sei vom Herrn gesegnet!"
And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spokest of also in my ears, —behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be my son unto the Lord.
3 Da gab er die elfhundert Silberringe seiner Mutter zurück. Seine Mutter aber sprach: "Ich weihe dieses Geld dem Herrn aus meiner Hand für meinen Sohn, um daraus ein Bildnis mit Umhang zu machen. Als solches gebe ich es dir wieder."
And he restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the Lord from my hand, for my son, to make a graven and molten image; and now I will give it back unto thee.
4 Da brachte er das Geld seiner Mutter. Seine Mutter aber nahm zweihundert Silberringe und gab sie einem Goldschmied. Dieser machte daraus ein Bildnis mit Umhang. Dies kam in Michas Haus.
Yet he gave the money back unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the silversmith, who made thereof a graven and molten image; and it was in the house of Micah.
5 Und dieser Mann, Micha, machte sich ein Gotteshaus, fertigte Ephod und Teraphim und weihte einen seiner Söhne, und der ward ihm Priester.
And the man Micah had a house of god, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
6 Zu jener Zeit war kein König in Israel. Jeder tat, was ihm gut dünkte.
In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did what seemed right in his own eyes.
7 Nun war ein junger Mann aus Bethlehem in Juda aus Judas Sippe. Er war Levite und dort zu Gast.
And there was a young man out of Beth-lechem-judah of the family of Judah, but he was a Levite, and sojourned there.
8 Nun ging der Mann aus der Stadt Bethlehem in Juda, irgendwo zu Gaste zu sein. So kam er auf das Gebirge Ephraim zu Michas Haus und sprach hier vor.
And the man departed from the city, from Beth-lechem-judah, to sojourn where he could find [a place]; and he came to the mountain of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he was pursuing his journey.
9 Micha fragte ihn: "Woher kommst du?" Er antwortete ihm: "Ich bin ein Levite aus Bethlehem in Juda. Ich bin auf der Reise, mich irgendwo niederzulassen."
And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite from Beth-lechem-judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find [a place].
10 Da sprach Micha zu ihm: "Bleib bei mir und sei mir Vater und Priester! Ich gebe dir jährlich zehn Silberringe und Kleidung und deinen Lebensunterhalt." Und der Levite ging darauf ein.
And Micah said unto him, Remain with me, and become unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver for the year, and suitable apparel, and thy victuals. And the Levite went in.
11 So entschloß sich also der Levite, bei dem Manne zu bleiben. Und der junge Mann war bei ihm wie einer seiner Söhne.
And the Levite consented to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
12 Und Micha weihte den Leviten. Und der junge Mann ward sein Priester und blieb in Michas Haus.
And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and remained in the house of Micah.
13 Da sprach Micha: jetzt weiß ich, daß der Herr mir wohltun wird, weil ich den Leviten zum Priester habe."
Then said Micah, Now I know that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have obtained a Levite for priest.
