Johannes 18
1 So betete Jesus. Dann überschritt er mit seinen Jüngern den Bach Cedron. Hier war ein Garten, wohin er sich mit seinen Jüngern begab.
When Yeshua had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the wadi of the Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered.
2 Auch Judas, sein Verräter, wußte den Ort, weil Jesus oft mit seinen Jüngern dort zusammen war.
Now Yehudah, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Yeshua often met there with his disciples.
3 Und Judas nahm eine Abteilung Soldaten und Knechte von den Oberpriestern und den Pharisäern und ging dorthin mit Fackeln, Laternen und Waffen.
Yehudah then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
4 Jesus aber, der alles wußte, was ihn treffen sollte, trat her und fragte sie: "Wen suchet ihr?"
Yeshua therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went forth, and said to them, "Who are you looking for?"
5 Sie sagten zu ihm: "Jesus von Nazareth." Jesus erwiderte ihnen: "Ich bin es." Auch Judas, sein Verräter stand dabei.
They answered him, "Yeshua the Natsraya." Yeshua said to them, "I AM." Yehudah also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.
6 Als er zu ihnen sagte: "Ich bin es", wichen sie zurück und stürzten zu Boden.
When therefore he said to them, "I AM," they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Noch einmal fragte er sie: "Wen suchet ihr?" Und sie antworteten: "Jesus von Nazareth."
Again therefore he asked them, "Who are you looking for?" They said, "Yeshua the Natsraya."
8 Jesus sprach: "Ich habe es euch schon gesagt, daß ich es bin; wenn ihr also mich sucht, so lasset diese gehen."
Yeshua answered, "I told you that I AM. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,"
9 So sollte das Wort erfüllt werden, das er gesprochen hatte: "Ich habe von denen, die du mir anvertraut hast, nicht einen einzigen verloren."
that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, "Of those whom you have given me, I have lost none."
10 Und Simon Petrus, der ein Schwert hatte, zog es heraus und schlug damit auf den Knecht des Hohenpriesters ein und hieb ihm das rechte Ohr ab. Der Knecht hieß Malchus.
Shimon Kipha therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malek.
11 Da sprach Jesus zu Petrus: "Stecke dein Schwert in die Scheide! Soll ich den Kelch nicht trinken, den mir der Vater dargereicht hat?"
Yeshua therefore said to Kipha, "Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which the Father has given me, shall I not surely drink it?"
12 Die Abteilung mit ihrem Hauptmann und den Knechten der Juden ergriffen Jesus, fesselten ihn
So the detachment, the commanding officer, and the officers of the Jewish leaders, seized Yeshua and bound him,
13 und führten ihn zunächst zu Annas. Er war der Schwiegervater des Kaiphas, der in jenem Jahre Hoherpriester war.
and led him to Khanan first, for he was father-in-law to Qayapha, who was high priest that year.
14 Kaiphas war es auch gewesen, der den Juden einst geraten hatte, es sei am besten, wenn ein Mensch für das Volk sterbe.
Now it was Qayapha who advised the Jewish leaders that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 Simon Petrus und ein anderer Jünger folgten Jesus. Dieser Jünger war dem Hohenpriester wohl bekannt und konnte so mit Jesus in den Hof des Hohenpriesters gehen.
Shimon Kipha followed Yeshua, as did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Yeshua into the court of the high priest;
16 Doch Petrus blieb vor dem Tore draußen stehen. Da ging der andere Jünger, der mit dem Hohenpriester bekannt war, hinaus, sprach mit der Türhüterin und holte Petrus herein.
but Kipha was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Kipha.
17 Die Türhüterin, eine Magd, fragte den Petrus: "Gehörst etwa auch du zu den Jüngern dieses Menschen?" Er sagte: "Nein."
Then the maid who kept the door said to Kipha, "Are you also one of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not."
18 Die Knechte und Gerichtsdiener hatten ein Kohlenfeuer angezündet und standen daran herum und wärmten sich; denn es war kalt. Auch Petrus stand bei ihnen und wärmte sich.
Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Kipha was with them, standing and warming himself.
19 Der Hohepriester fragte Jesus nach seinen Jüngern und nach seiner Lehre.
The high priest therefore asked Yeshua about his disciples, and about his teaching.
20 Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Ich habe offen zur Welt geredet; ich habe allerorten gelehrt, in Synagogen und im Heiligtum, wohin alle Juden kommen; nichts habe ich im Verborgenen geredet.
Yeshua answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jewish people come together. I said nothing in secret.
21 Was fragst du mich? Frage jene, die gehört haben, was ich ihnen gesagt habe. Die wissen es ja, was ich geredet habe."
Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard what I spoke to them; surely they know what I said."
22 Auf diese Worte hin schlug einer der Knechte, der daneben stand, ihn mit einem Stock ins Gesicht und rief: "So antwortest du dem Hohenpriester?"
When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Yeshua with his hand, saying, "Do you answer the high priest like that?"
23 Darauf entgegnete ihm Jesus: "Habe ich unrecht geredet, so beweise das Unrechte; doch habe ich recht geredet, warum schlägst du mich?"
Yeshua answered him, "If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?"
24 Dann schickte ihn Annas gefesselt zum Hohenpriester Kaiphas.
Khanan sent him bound to Qayapha, the high priest.
25 Simon Petrus stand noch da und wärmte sich. Da sagte man zu ihm: "Bist nicht auch du einer aus seinen Jüngern?" Er leugnete und sagte: "Nein."
Now Shimon Kipha was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, "You are not also one of his disciples, are you?" He denied it, and said, "I am not."
26 Da sagte einer von den Knechten des Hohenpriesters, ein Verwandter dessen, dem Petrus das Ohr abgehauen hatte: "Habe ich dich nicht bei ihm im Garten gesehen?"
One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Kipha had cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with him?"
27 Und Petrus leugnete es wieder. Da krähte gleich darauf ein Hahn.
Kipha therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.
28 Von Kaiphas führten sie Jesus ins Gerichtsgebäude. Es war noch früh am Morgen. Sie selbst betraten das Gerichtsgebäude nicht, damit sie nicht unrein würden und noch das Paschamahl essen könnten.
They led Yeshua therefore from Qayapha into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.
29 Deswegen ging Pilatus zu ihnen hinaus und fragte: "Welche Anklage erhebt ihr gegen diesen Menschen?"
Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, "What accusation do you bring against this man?"
30 Sie gaben ihm zur Antwort: "Wenn dieser kein Verbrecher wäre, so hätten wir ihn dir nicht ausgeliefert"
They answered him, "If this man weren't an evildoer, we would not have delivered him up to you."
31 Pilatus sprach zu ihnen: "Dann nehmt ihn und richtet ihn nach eurem Gesetz." Darauf erwiderten ihm die Juden: "Wir dürfen niemand hinrichten."
Pilate therefore said to them, "Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law." Therefore the Jewish leaders said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"
32 So sollte sich das Wort Jesu erfüllen, mit dem er seine Todesart angekündigt hatte.
that the word of Yeshua might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
33 Pilatus trat wieder ins Gerichtsgebäude, ließ Jesus kommen und fragte ihn: "Bist du der König der Juden?"
Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Yeshua, and said to him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"
34 Jesus gab zur Antwort: "Fragst du das aus dir selbst, oder haben es dir andere von mir behauptet?"
Yeshua answered him, "Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?"
35 Pilatus sprach: "Bin ich denn ein Jude? Dein Volk und die Oberpriester haben dich mir übergeben; was hast du verbrochen?"
Pilate answered, "I'm not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?"
36 Und Jesus sprach: "Mein Reich ist nicht von dieser Welt. Wenn mein Reich von dieser Welt wäre, so hätten meine Anhänger gekämpft, auf daß ich nicht den Juden ausgeliefert würde. So aber ist mein Reich nicht von hier."
Yeshua answered, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I would not be delivered to the Jewish leaders. But now my Kingdom is not from here."
37 Da sagte Pilatus zu ihm: "So bist du also doch ein König?" Jesus erwiderte: "Du sagst, ich sei ein König. Ich bin dazu geboren und dazu in die Welt gekommen, um für die Wahrheit Zeugnis abzulegen. Wer immer aus der Wahrheit stammt, der hört auf meine Stimme."
Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?" Yeshua answered, "You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."
38 Da sprach Pilatus zu ihm: "Was ist Wahrheit?" Nach diesen Worten ging er wieder zu den Juden hinaus und sprach zu ihnen: "Ich finde keine Schuld an ihm.
Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" When he had said this, he went out again to the Jewish leaders, and said to them, "I find no basis for a charge against him.
39 Jedoch bei euch besteht der Brauch, daß ich euch am Osterfest einen freigebe. Soll ich euch den König der Juden freigeben?"
But you have a custom, that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"
40 Da schrien sie wiederum laut: "Nein, den nicht, sondern den Barabbas." Barabbas war aber ein Räuber.
Then they shouted again, saying, "Not this man, but Bar-Aba." Now Bar-Aba was a robber.
