Johannes 11
1 Da war jemand krank, Lazarus aus Bethanien, dem Flecken der Maria und ihrer Schwester Martha.
Was now a certain [man] ailing, Lazarus of Bethany of the village of Mary and Martha the sister of her;
2 Maria war es gewesen, die den Herrn mit Öl gesalbt und die mit ihren Haaren seine Füße abgetrocknet hatte. Ihr Bruder Lazarus lag krank darnieder.
Was now Mary the [one] having anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and having wiped the feet of Him with the hair of her, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
3 Da ließen ihm die Schwestern sagen: "Herr, sieh, der, den du liebst, ist krank."
Sent therefore the sisters to Him saying; Lord, behold [he] whom You love was being sick.
4 Auf diese Botschaft hin sprach Jesus: "Diese Krankheit führt nicht zum Tode, sie dient zur Ehre Gottes; der Sohn Gottes soll durch sie verherrlicht werden.
Having heard then Jesus said; This sickness not is unto death but for the glory of God that may be glorified the Son of God through it.
5 Jesus liebte Martha, deren Schwester Maria und den Lazarus.
was loving now Jesus Martha and the sister of her and Lazarus.
6 Nachdem er nun erfahren hatte, Lazarus sei krank, blieb er trotzdem noch zwei Tage an dem Orte, wo er sich gerade befand.
When therefore He heard that he is sick, then indeed He remained in which He was [the] place two days.
7 Alsdann erst sagte er zu den Jüngern: "Laßt uns wieder nach Judäa gehen!"
Then after this He says to the disciples; Let us go into Judea again.
8 Die Jünger sagten zu ihm: "Rabbi, eben wollten dich die Juden steinigen; nun gehst du wiederum dorthin."
Say to Him the disciples; Rabbi, just now were seeking You to stone the Jews, and again You are going there?
9 Und Jesus sprach: "Hat nicht der Tag zwölf Stunden? Wer am Tage seines Weges geht, der strauchelt nicht, er sieht ja das Licht dieser Welt.
Answered (*k*) Jesus; Surely twelve hours are there in the day? If anyone shall walk in the day, not he stumbles, because the light of the world this he sees.
10 Doch wer bei Nacht dahingeht, strauchelt, weil ihm das Licht fehlt."
if however anyone shall walk in the night, he stumbles, because the light not is in him.
11 So sprach er; alsdann fügte er hinzu: "Lazarus, unser Freund, liegt im Schlafe; ich gehe aber hin, ihn aufzuwecken."
These things He said and after this He says to them; Lazarus the friend of us has fallen asleep; but I go that I may awaken him.
12 Da sagten die Jünger zu ihm: "Herr, wenn er schläft, wird er gesund werden."
Said therefore the disciples (to Him; *N(K)O*) Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.
13 Doch Jesus sprach von seinem Tode; sie aber meinten, er rede von der Ruhe des Schlafes.
Had spoken however Jesus of the death of him; they however thought that of the rest of sleep He speaks.
14 Da sagte ihnen Jesus offen heraus: "Lazarus ist gestorben.
Then therefore said to them Jesus plainly; Lazarus has died.
15 Ich freue mich aber euretwegen, daß ich nicht dort war, damit ihr glaubt. Doch laßt uns jetzt zu ihm gehen!"
And I rejoice for sake of you, in order that you may believe, that not I was there; But let us go to him.
16 Da sagte Thomas, der auch der Zwilling heißt, zu den anderen Jüngern: "Laßt uns mitgehen, damit wir mit ihm sterben."
Said therefore Thomas who is being named Didymus to the fellow disciples; Let us go also us that we may die with Him.
17 Als Jesus ankam, fand er ihn bereits vier Tage im Grabe liegen.
Having come therefore Jesus found him four already days having been in the tomb.
18 Bethanien lag nahe bei Jerusalem, ungefähr fünfzehn Stadien davon entfernt.
Was now Bethany near Jerusalem about away stadia fifteen.
19 So waren viele Juden zu Martha und Maria gekommen, um sie ihres Bruders wegen zu trösten.
(and *k*) Many (now *no*) of the Jews had come unto (*N(k)O*) (concerning *k*) Martha and Mary that they may console them concerning the brother (of them. *k*)
20 Sobald Martha hörte, Jesus komme, ging sie ihm entgegen; Maria aber blieb zu Hause.
Therefore Martha, when she heard that (*k*) Jesus is coming, met with Him; Mary however in the house was sitting.
21 Und Martha sprach zu Jesus: "Herr, wärest du dagewesen, wäre mein Bruder nicht gestorben.
Said then Martha to Jesus; Lord, if You had been here, not then would (be dead *N(k)O*) the brother of mine.
22 Doch auch so weiß ich, daß Gott dir alles gibt, was du von Gott erbittest."
Nevertheless even now I know that as much as maybe You may ask God will give You God.
23 Und Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Dein Bruder wird auferstehen."
Says to her Jesus; Will rise again the brother of you.
24 Martha sprach zu ihm: "Ich weiß, daß er auferstehen wird bei der Auferstehung am Jüngsten Tage."
Says to him (*no*) Martha; I know that he will rise again in the resurrection in the last day.
25 Und Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Ich bin die Auferstehung und das Leben. Wer an mich glaubt, wird leben, auch wenn er gestorben ist.
Said to her Jesus; I myself am the resurrection and the life; the [one] believing in Me myself even if even if he shall die he will live,
and everyone who is living and believing in Me myself certainly not he shall die to the age. Believe you this? (aiōn g165)
27 "Ja, Herr", sprach sie, "ich glaube, daß du der Christus bist, der Sohn des lebendigen Gottes, der in die Welt kommen soll."
She says to Him; Yes Lord; I myself have believed that You yourself are the Christ the Son of God the [One] into the world coming.
28 So sprach sie, ging weg und rief Maria, ihre Schwester, und sagte zu ihr leise: "Der Meister ist da und ruft dich."
And (these things *N(k)O*) having said she went away and she called Mary the sister of her secretly having said; The Teacher is come and He calls you.
29 Kaum hatte sie dies gehört, stand sie schnell auf und eilte zu ihm hin.
She (then *no*) when she heard ([she] rose up *N(k)O*) quickly and (was coming *N(k)O*) to Him.
30 Jesus hatte den Flecken noch nicht betreten; er war noch an der Stelle, wo Martha ihn getroffen hatte.
Not yet now had come Jesus into the village, but was (still *no*) in the place where met with Him Martha.
31 Als die Juden, die bei ihr im Hause waren und sie trösteten, gesehen hatten, daß Maria sich eilends erhoben hatte und weggegangen war, folgten sie ihr in der Meinung, sie gehe zum Grabe, um dort zu weinen.
The then Jews who are being with her in the house and consoling her, having seen Mary that soon she rose up and went out, followed after her, (having supposed *N(K)O*) that she is going to the tomb that she may weep there.
32 Als Maria an die Stelle kam, wo Jesus war, und sie ihn sah, fiel sie ihm zu Füßen mit den Worten: "Herr, wärst du dagewesen, so wäre mein Bruder nicht gestorben."
Therefore Mary when she came to where was (*k*) Jesus, having seen Him she fell of Him (at *N(k)O*) the feet saying to Him; Lord, if You had been here, not then would my have died brother.
33 Als Jesus sah, wie sie so weinte und wie die Juden, die mit ihr gekommen waren, gleichfalls weinten, ward er innerlich tief ergriffen und erschüttert;
Jesus therefore when He saw her weeping and the having come with her Jews weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled Himself
34 er fragte: "Wohin habt ihr ihn gelegt?" Sie sagten ihm: "Herr, komm und sieh!"
And He said; Where have you laid him? They say to Him; Lord, do come and do see.
35 Und Jesus weinte.
Wept Jesus.
36 Die Juden sagten: "Seht, wie lieb er ihn hatte."
Were saying therefore the Jews; Behold how He was loving him!
37 Doch einige aus diesen meinten: "Hätte dieser, der dem Blinden die Augen aufgetan hat, nicht machen können, daß er nicht starb?"
Some however of them said; Surely was able this [man] who having opened the eyes of the blind to have caused that also this one not may have died?
38 Und Jesus, wiederum innerlich tief erschüttert, ging zum Grabe. Es war eine Höhle, die mit einem Stein verschlossen war.
Jesus therefore again being deeply moved in Himself He comes to the tomb; It was now a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
39 Und Jesus sprach: "Nehmt den Stein hinweg!" Da sagte Martha, die Schwester des Verstorbenen, zu ihm: "Herr, er riecht schon; es ist bereits vier Tage her."
Says Jesus; do take away the stone. Says to Him the sister of the [one] (having deceased *N(k)O*) Martha; Lord, already he stinks; four days for it is.
40 Doch Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Habe ich dir nicht gesagt, daß, wenn du glaubst, du die Herrlichkeit Gottes sehen würdest?"
Says to her Jesus; Surely I said to you that if you shall believe you will see the glory of God?
41 Nun hoben sie den Stein hinweg. Und Jesus hob die Augen himmelwärts und betete: "Ich danke dir, Vater, daß du mich erhört hast.
They took away therefore the stone (where was who having died laid. *K*) Now Jesus lifted [His] eyes upwards and said; Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 Ich wußte zwar, daß du mich jederzeit erhörst. Jedoch ich sagte es des Volkes wegen, das hier steht, damit sie glauben, daß du mich gesandt hast."
I myself and knew that always Me You hear; but on account of the crowd which already standing around I said [it], that they may believe that You yourself Me sent.
43 Nach diesen Worten rief er mit lauter Stimme: "Lazarus, komm heraus!"
And these things having said in a voice loud He cried out; Lazarus, come forth.
44 Und der Tote kam heraus, an Händen und Füßen mit Binden eingewickelt und das Angesicht mit einem Schweißtuch bedeckt. Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Macht ihn frei und laßt ihn gehen!"
(and *k*) Came forth the [one] having died bound the feet and the hands with linen strips, and the face of him in a headcloth had bound about. Says to them Jesus: do unbind him and do allow him to go.
45 Viele Juden, die zu Maria gekommen waren und gesehen hatten, was er getan hatte, glaubten an ihn.
Many therefore of the Jews having come to Mary and having seen (what things *NK(o)*) He did (Jesus *k*) believed in Him.
46 Doch einige aus ihnen gingen zu den Pharisäern und erzählten ihnen, was Jesus getan hatte.
some however of them went to the Pharisees and told to them what did (*ko*) Jesus.
47 Die Oberpriester und die Pharisäer riefen nun den Hohen Rat zusammen und sagten: "Was sollen wir tun, da dieser Mensch so viele Zeichen wirkt?
Gathered therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees a council and they were saying; What are we to do? For this man many does signs!
48 Denn lassen wir ihn weiter gewähren, so werden alle an ihn glauben; dann aber kommen die Römer und nehmen uns Land und Leute weg."
If we shall let him alone Him like this, all will believe in Him, and will come the Romans and will take away of us both the place and the nation.
49 Einer aber unter ihnen, Kaiphas, der Hohepriester jenes Jahres, sprach zu ihnen: "Ihr versteht nichts,
One however certain of them Caiaphas, high priest being on the year same, said to them; You yourselves not know no [thing],
50 bedenkt auch nicht, daß es für euch besser ist, wenn ein einziger Mensch für das Volk stirbt, als daß das ganze Volk zugrunde gehe."
nor (consider you *N(k)O*) that it is profitable (for you *N(K)O*) that one man may die for the people, and not all the nation may perish.
51 Das sagte er indes nicht aus sich selbst; vielmehr, weil er in jenem Jahre Hoherpriester war, weissagte er, daß Jesus für das Volk sterben werde,
This now from himself not he said, but high priest being on the year that he prophesied that was about (*k*) Jesus to die for the nation,
52 ja, nicht für das Volk allein, sondern auch, um die zerstreuten Kinder Gottes zu einem Volk zu vereinen.
and not for the nation only but that also the children of God those scattered He may gather together into one.
53 Von diesem Tage an waren sie entschlossen, ihn zu töten.
From that [very] therefore day (they plotted *N(k)O*) that they may kill Him.
54 Darum wandelte Jesus nicht mehr öffentlich bei den Juden, sondern zog sich von dort zurück in eine Gegend nahe der Steppe, in eine Stadt mit Namen Ephrem. Dort verweilte er mit seinen Jüngern.
(*no*) Therefore Jesus no longer no longer publicly was walking among the Jews, but went away from there into the region near the wilderness to Ephraim being named a city, And there And there (He stayed *N(k)O*) with the disciples (of him. *k*)
55 Nun war das Osterfest der Juden nahe. Da zogen viele vom Lande vor dem Osterfest nach Jerusalem hinauf, um sich zu reinigen.
Was now near the Passover of the Jews, and went up many to Jerusalem out of the region before the Passover so that they may purify themselves.
56 Sie suchten Jesus und fragten einander im Tempel: "Was meint ihr? Wird er wohl zum Feste kommen?"
They were seeking therefore Jesus and were saying among one another in the temple already standing; What does it seem to you, that certainly not He may come to the feast?
57 Die Oberpriester und die Pharisäer hatten nämlich den Befehl erlassen, jeder, der von seinem Aufenthalt wisse, müsse es anzeigen, damit man ihn festnehmen könne.
Had given now (also *k*) the chief priests and the Pharisees (commands *N(K)O*) that if anyone shall know where He is he shall show [it], so that they may seize Him.
