Job 29
1 Darauf fuhr Job im Vortrag seiner Rede fort:
And he repeated Job to take up discourse his and he said.
2 "Ach, daß ich wäre wie in früheren Monden, wie in den Tagen, da mich Gott beschützte,
Who? will he give me like months of long ago like [the] days [when] God he watched over me.
3 als seine Leuchte über meinem Haupte schwebte und ich bei ihrem Scheine mich ins Dunkel wagte!
When made shine he lamp his over head my to light his I walked darkness.
4 So, wie ich war, in meiner höchsten Blüte Tagen, da Gott mein Zelt beschirmte,
Just as I was in [the] days of prime my in [the] intimacy of God on tent my.
5 als der Allmächtige noch mit mir war, als meine Dienerschaft mich noch umgab,
While still [the] Almighty [was] with me [were] around me lads my.
6 als meine Gäste sich in Dickmilch badeten, als Bäche Öls bei mir den Boten zur Verfügung standen!
When bathed steps my in curd and a rock it poured out beside me streams of oil.
7 Wenn ich zur Stadt hinauf zum Tore ging und auf dem Markte meinen Sitz einnahm,
When went out I [the] gate on [the] town in the public square I prepared seat my.
8 alsdann verkrochen sich die Knaben, sahn sie mich, und Greise standen auf und blieben stehen.
They saw me young men and they hid themselves and old [men] they rose they stood.
9 Die Ratsherrn hielten ein mit Reden und legten auf den Mund die Hand.
Chiefs they restrained words and a hand they put to mouth their.
10 Der Edlen Stimme, sie verbarg sich; das Wort blieb ihnen in der Kehle stecken.
[the] voice of Nobles they were hidden and tongue their to palate their it stuck.
11 Wer von mir hörte, pries mich selig; wer mich erblickte, lobte mich.
For an ear it heard and it called blessed me and an eye it saw and it bore witness to me.
12 Ich half dem Armen, der um Hilfe schrie, dem Waisenkinde, dem hilflosen.
That I rescued [the] afflicted [who] cried for help and [the] fatherless and [the one whom] not a helper [belonged] to him.
13 Und armer Menschen Segen kam auf mich; das Herz der Witwe ließ ich jubeln.
[the] blessing of [one] about to perish On me it came and [the] heart of a widow I made sing for joy.
14 Gerechtigkeit war mein Gewand, das gut mir stand, und meine Rechtlichkeit war Mantel mir und Diadem.
Righteousness I put on and it clothed me [was] like a robe and a turban justice my.
15 Ich war des Blinden Augenlicht und Fuß dem Lahmen.
Eyes I was to the blind and [was] feet to the lame I.
16 Den Armen wollte ich ein Vater sein; selbst Fremder Sache führte ich.
[was] a father I to the needy [people] and a case at law of [the one whom] not I knew I investigated it.
17 Des Bösewichts Gebiß zermalmte ich und riß den Raub ihm aus den Zähnen.
And I broke! [the] jaws of [the] unrighteous and from teeth his I threw [the] prey.
18 So dachte ich, in meinem Neste stürbe ich; ich lebte soviel Jahre wie der Phönix.
And I said with nest my I will expire and like sand I will increase days.
19 Zum Wasser reichte meine Wurzel tief hinab; in meinen Zweigen nächtigte der Tau,
Root my [is] opened to water and dew it will remain overnight on branch[es] my.
20 und neu stets würde meine Herrlichkeit an mir; in meiner Hand verjüngte sich der Bogen.
Honor my [is] new with me and bow my in hand my it will show newness.
21 Mir hörten sie nur zu und warteten und lauschten schweigend meinem Rat.
To me people listened and they waited and they may be silent for counsel my.
22 Wenn ich geredet, sprachen sie nicht mehr; nur meine Rede troff auf sie herab.
After word my not they repeated and on them it dropped speech my.
23 Sie warteten auf mich wie auf den Regen; sie lechzten nach mir wie auf Lenzesregen.
And they waited like the rain for me and mouth their they opened wide for spring rain.
24 Und lächelte ich ihnen zu, so konnten sie's nicht glauben, und sie verschmähten nicht mein heitres Antlitz.
I laughed to them not they believed and [the] light of face my not they made fall!
25 Ich wählte ihren Weg, den sie einschlagen sollten, wie bei der Kriegerschar der König. Ich saß gemächlich obenan wie einer, der den Trauernden Trost spendet." -
I chose way their so I may sit [as] chief so I may dwell like a king among the troop[s] just as mourners someone comforts.
