Job 18
1 Darauf erwiderte Bildad von Schuach:
Then Baldad the Sauchite answered and said,
2 "Wie lange steht's noch an, bis daß ihr Schluß mit diesen Worten macht, bis ihr belehrt und wir erwidern können?
How long will you continue? forbear, that we also may speak.
3 Warum sind wir wie Vieh geachtet, nach eurer Ansicht wie vernagelt?
For therefore have we been silent before you like brutes?
4 Der du in deiner Wut dich selbst zerfleischst, soll deinetwegen gar die Welt sich selber überlassen sein? Und soll der Fels von seiner Stelle rücken?
Anger has possessed you: for what if you should die; would [the earth] under heaven be desolate? or shall the mountains be overthrown from their foundations?
5 Jedoch des Frevlers Licht verlischt; nicht brennt mehr seines Herdes Feuer.
But the light of the ungodly shall be quenched, and their flame shall not go up.
6 Das Licht verfinstert sich in seinem Zelt, und seine Leuchte über ihm erlischt.
His light [shall be] darkness in [his] habitation, and his lamp shall be put out with him.
7 Im besten Alter lahmt sein Schritt; sein eigener Rat bringt ihn zu Fall.
Let the meanest of men spoil his goods, and let his counsel deceive [him].
8 Sein Fuß wird in dem Netz verstrickt, und im Gestrüpp verfängt er sich.
His foot also has been caught in a snare, [and] let it be entangled in a net.
9 Die Ferse hält der Fallstrick fest, und Schlingen klammern sich an ihn.
And let snares come upon him: he shall strengthen those that thirst for his destruction.
10 Versteckt am Boden ist das Seil; die Falle liegt am Weg für ihn.
His snare is hid in the earth, and that which shall take him is by the path.
11 Die Schrecken lagern sich um ihn und machen, daß er Angst bekommt. -
Let pains destroy him round about, and let many [enemies] come about him,
12 Die Kinder sollen Hunger leiden, und Unheil sei bereit für seine Gattin!
[vex him] with distressing hunger: and a signal destruction has been prepared for him.
13 Die Glieder seines Leibs verzehre, des Todes Erstgeborener verzehre seine Glieder! -
Let the soles of his feet be devoured: and death shall consume his beauty.
14 Aus seinem Zelte, seinem Glücke wird er fortgerissen; man führt ihn zu dem Schreckenskönig.
And let health be utterly banished from his tabernacle, and let distress seize upon him with a charge from the king.
15 Man wohnt in seinem Zelte ohne ihn; auf seine Wohnung streut man Schwefel.
It shall dwell in his tabernacle in his night: his excellency shall be sown with brimstone.
16 Von unten dorren seine Wurzeln, und oben welken seine Zweige.
His roots shall be dried up from beneath, and his crop shall fall away from above.
17 Und von der Erde schwindet sein Gedächtnis; kein Name bleibt ihm bei den Leuten draußen.
Let his memorial perish out of the earth, and his name shall be publicly cast out.
18 Man stößt ihn aus dem Licht in Nacht und treibt ihn aus der Welt hinaus.
Let [one] drive him from light into darkness.
19 Nicht Schoß noch Sproß hat er im Volk; nicht einer bleibt in seiner Wohnung übrig.
He shall not be known amongst his people, nor his house preserved on the earth.
20 Ob seines Schicksals starrt der Westen, und die im Osten faßt ein Grauen.
But strangers shall dwell in his possessions: the last groaned for him, and wonder seized the first.
21 Dies ist des Frevlers Los, und dahin kommt's mit dem, der nichts von Gott mehr wissen will."
These are the houses of the unrighteous, and this is the place of them that know not the Lord.
