Job 11
1 Da fiel Sophar von Naama ein und sprach:
And Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
2 "Soll dem Wortreichen keine Antwort werden? Soll wohl der Zungenheld obsiegen?
Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man of much talk be justified?
3 Dummköpfe bringt zum Schweigen dein Geschwätz; da magst du Unsinn reden; da widerlegt dich keiner.
Should thy fictions make men hold their peace? and shouldest thou mock, and no one make [thee] ashamed?
4 Du sprachst: 'Es ist doch lauter meine Rede. In Deinen Augen bin ich rein!'
For thou sayest, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
5 Wie aber, wenn Gott reden wollte, den Mund auftäte gegen dich
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
6 und dir in Weisheit zeigte, daß die geheimen Schändlichkeiten doppelt soviel ausmachen? So wisse: Von deinen Sünden sieht dir Gott noch manche nach.
And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, how that they are the double of what is realised; and know that God passeth by [much] of thine iniquity!
7 Ergründest du die Tiefen Gottes, und kennst du das vollkommene Bild des Allerhöchsten?
Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty to perfection?
[It is as] the heights of heaven; what wilt thou do? deeper than Sheol; what canst thou know? (Sheol h7585)
9 und Breiteres als der Erde Breite und Weiteres als das weite Meer?
The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10 Wenn er verhaftet und versiegelt und hält Gericht, wer wehrt ihm da?
If he pass by, and shut up, and call to judgment, who can hinder him?
11 Er kennt die Menschen, die so gern sich selber täuschen; er sieht die Bosheit; doch er übersieht sie nicht.
For he knoweth vain men, and seeth wickedness when [man] doth not consider it;
12 Und des Verstandes wird der Mann bei Hof beraubt, und der Gemeine wird durch schimpflichen Verkauf gepeinigt.
Yet a senseless man will make bold, though man be born [like] the foal of a wild ass.
13 Wenn aber du dein Herz in Ordnung bringst, und hebst zu ihm die Hände flehend,
If thou prepare thy heart and stretch out thy hands toward him,
14 entfernst den Frevel, der an deinen Händen klebt, vergönnst der Sünde keinen Raum bei dir,
If thou put far away the iniquity which is in thy hand, and let not wrong dwell in thy tents;
15 dann kannst du makellos dein Antlitz heben, dann stehst du felsenfest und unverzagt.
Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot, and thou shalt be stedfast and shalt not fear:
16 Alsdann vergissest du das Leid, du denkst daran wie an vergangene Zeiten,
For thou shalt forget misery; as waters that are passed away shalt thou remember it;
17 und heller als der Mittag strahlt das Leben, und Dunkelheit ist wie der helle Morgen.
And life shall arise brighter than noonday; though thou be enshrouded in darkness, thou shalt be as the morning,
18 voll Hoffnung schaut dein Blick hinaus; du schaust umher und legst dich sorglos nieder.
And thou shalt have confidence, because there shall be hope; and having searched about [thee], thou shalt take rest in safety.
19 Du lagerst dich, und niemand schreckt, und viele mühen sich um deine Gunst.
Yea, thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; and many shall seek thy favour.
20 Jedoch der Frevler Augen schmachten hin; fort schwindet ihnen Zuflucht, und ihre Hoffnung ist Verhauchen."
But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and [all] refuge shall vanish from them, and their hope [shall be] the breathing out of life.
