Jeremia 1
1 Aussprüche des Chelkiassohnes Jeremias, eines Mitgliedes der Priesterschaft, die zu Anatot im Lande Benjamin saß,
The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, —of the priests who were in Anathoth, in the land of Benjamin:
2 an den das Wort des Herrn erging in den Tagen des Amonsohnes Josias, des Judakönigs, in seinem dreizehnten Regierungsjahre.
unto whom came the word of Yahweh, in the days of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, —in the thirteenth year of his reign;
3 Dies geschah auch in den Tagen des Josiassohnes Jojakim, des Judakönigs, bis zum Schluß des elften Jahres des Josiassohnes Sedekias, des Judakönigs, bis zur Wegführung aus Jerusalem im fünften Monat.
it came also in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, —as far as the carrying away of Jerusalem captive, in the fifth month.
4 Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:
So then, the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
5 "Bevor ich dich im Mutterleib gebildet, habe ich dich schon gekannt; bevor du deinen Mutterschoß verlassen, habe ich dich schon geweiht und zum Propheten über Heiden dich bestellt." -
Before I formed thee at thy birth, I took knowledge of thee, And before thy nativity, I hallowed thee, —A prophet to the nations, I appointed thee.
6 Ich sprach darauf: "Ach Herr, Du Herr! Ich kann nicht reden; ich bin zu jung."
Then said I—Ah! My Lord Yahweh! Lo! I know not how to speak, —For a child, am I!
7 Da sprach der Herr zu mir: "Sprich nicht: 'Ich bin zu jung!' Wohin ich dich auch sende, wirst du gehen. Was ich dir anbefehle, wirst du künden.
Then said Yahweh unto me, Do not say, A child, am, I,—For against whomsoever I send thee, shalt thou go, And whatsoever I command thee, shalt thou speak:
8 Hab keine Furcht davor! Ich bin mit dir, um dich zu schützen." - Ein Spruch des Herrn.
Be not afraid of their faces, For with thee, am I, to deliver thee Declareth Yahweh.
9 Dann reckte seine Hand der Herr, berührte meinen Mund. Dann sprach der Herr zu mir: "Ich lege meine Worte in deinen Mund.
Then Yahweh put forth his hand, and touched my mouth, —and Yahweh said unto me, Lo! I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 Ich geb dir heute Vollmacht über Heidenvölker und Königshäuser zum Ausreißen, zum Einreißen und zum Verheeren, zum Verderben, zum Bauen und zum Pflanzen."
See! I have set thee in charge this day, over the nations and over the kingdoms, To uproot and to break down, and to destroy and to tear in pieces, —To build and to plant.
11 Darauf erging das Wort des Herrn an mich: "Was siehst du, Jeremias?" Ich sprach: "Ich sehe eines Wachbaums Zweig.
Moreover the Word of Yahweh came unto me saying, What canst thou see Jeremiah? And I said, A twig of an almond-tree, can I see.
12 Da sprach der Herr zu mir: "Ganz recht! Ich wache über meinem Wort, es zu erfüllen."
Then said Yahweh unto me—Thou hast rightly seen, —for keeping watch, am I over my word to perform it.
13 Zum zweitenmal erging das Wort des Herrn an mich: "Was siehst du da?" Ich sprach: "Ich sehe einen Kessel überkochen, und seine Öffnung schaut von Norden her."
And the word of Yahweh came unto me a second time saying, What canst thou see? And I said, A boiling caldron, can I see, with, the front thereof, on the North.
14 Da sprach der Herr zu mir: "Im Norden wird gebraut das Unheil über alle, die im Lande wohnen.
Then said Yahweh unto me, —Out of the North, shall break forth calamity, against all the inhabitants of the land.
15 Ja, sieh! Ich bin's, der alle Horden jener Reiche dort im Norden aufruft", ein Spruch des Herrn, "auf daß sie kommen, und jeder seinen Sitz hinstelle vor die Tore von Jerusalem und alle seine Mauern rings umher und wider alle Städte Judas.
For behold me! calling for all the families of the kingdoms of the North, Declareth Yahweh, —and they shall come, and set every one his throne at the opening of the gates of Jerusalem and against all her walls round about, and against all the cities of Judah!
16 Ich ziehe sie zur Rechenschaft für alle ihre Bosheit, daß sie mich verließen und andern Göttern opferten, anbetend ihrer Hände Machwerk.
Then will I pronounce my judgments against them, concerning all their wickedness, —in that they have forsaken me and have burned incense unto other gods, and have bowed down to the works of their own hands,
17 Du aber gürte deine Lenden! Tritt hin und sprich zu ihnen, was immer ich dich heiße! Erschrick vor ihnen nicht, damit ich dich nicht öffentlich erschrecke!
Thou, therefore, shalt gird thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them, all that, I, command thee, —be not dismayed because of them, lest I dismay thee before their face.
18 Ich selbst mach heute dich zur festen Burg, zum Eisenturm, zur ehernen Mauer gegen alle hierzulande, die Könige von Juda, seine Fürsten und seine Priester und des Landes Volk.
I, therefore—lo! I have set thee to-day as a fortified city, and as a pillar of iron and as walls of bronze, over all the land, —against the kings of Judah, against her princes, against her priests and against the people of the land.
19 Und wenn sie dich bekämpfen, übermannen sie dich nicht. Ich bin mit dir, um dich zu schützen." - Ein Spruch des Herrn.
And they will fight against thee but shall not prevail against thee, —for with thee, am I, Declareth Yahweh, to deliver thee.
