Jeremia 34

1 Das Wort, das einst an Jeremias von dem Herrn ergangen, als Nebukadrezar, Babels König, und sein ganzes Heer samt allen seiner Herrschaft unterworfenen Reichen und allen andern Völkern Jerusalem belagerten, mit allen seinen Städten:

The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying:

2 "So spricht der Herr, Gott Israels: Geh hin! Sprich zu dem Könige von Juda, Sedekias: Verkünde ihm: So spricht der Herr: 'Ich gebe diese Stadt dem Babelkönig preis, daß er mit Feuer sie verbrenne.

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire:

3 Auch du entrinnst ihm nicht; du wirst ergriffen und ihm ausgeliefert. Den Babelkönig schauen deine Augen; von Mund zu Munde redet er mit dir. Nach Babel wirst du kommen.'

and thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.

4 Doch hör das Wort des Herrn, du Sedekias, Judas König! So spricht der Herr von dir.

Yet hear the word of the LORD, O Zedekiah king of Judah: thus saith the LORD concerning thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword;

5 'Du stirbst im Frieden, und wie die Leichenbrände deiner Väter waren, der früheren Könige vor dir, so zündet man auch dir ihn an und klagt um dich "Ach, du Gebieter!" Das hab ich zu sagen.'" Ein Spruch des Herrn.

thou shalt die in peace; and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they make a burning for thee; and they shall lament thee, [saying], Ah lord! for I have spoken the word, saith the LORD.

6 So meldete der Seher Jeremias dem Judakönig Sedekias all diese Worte zu Jerusalem.

Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,

7 Das Heer des Babelkönigs aber kämpfte gen Jerusalem und alle Städte Judas, die noch übrig waren, Lachis und Aseka; sie waren doch die einzigen von Judas festen Städten, die noch standhielten.

when the king of Babylon’s army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these [alone] remained of the cities of Judah [as] fenced cities.

8 Das Wort, das einst an Jeremias von dem Herrn erging, nachdem der König Sedekias einen Bund mit allem Volke zu Jerusalem geschlossen hatte, bei ihnen die Freilassung zu verkünden,

The word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;

9 daß jeder seinen Sklaven und jeder seine Sklavin, Hebräer und Hebräerin, freilasse, daß kein Volksgenosse mehr bei ihnen noch einem andern Juden Sklavendienste leiste.

that every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, [to wit], of a Jew his brother:

10 Da gehorchten alle Fürsten und das ganze Volk. Sie schlossen diesem Abkommen sich an, daß jeder seinen Sklaven und seine Sklavin freilasse, um sie nicht länger mehr im Dienst zu halten. Sie schenkten ihnen demgemäß die Freiheit.

And all the princes and all the people obeyed, which had entered into the covenant, that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more; they obeyed, and let them go:

11 Inzwischen aber, andern Sinns geworden, holten sie die freigelassenen Sklaven samt den Sklavinnen zurück und zwangen mit Gewalt sie abermals zum Sklavendienst.

but afterwards they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids:

12 Darauf erging das Wort des Herrn an Jeremias, also lautend:

Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

13 "So spricht der Herr, Gott Israels: Ich selber schloß mit euren Vätern einen Bund, als ich sie aus Ägypterlande führte, aus ihrem Sklavenstand, und sprach:

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying,

14 'Nach sieben Jahren lasse jeder frei den Bruder, der Hebräer ist und der sich dir verkauft! Sechs Jahre soll er dir ein Sklave sein! Dann laß ihn wieder frei!' Doch eure Väter hörten nicht auf mich, noch neigten sie ihr Ohr.

At the end of seven years ye shall let go every man his brother that is an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee, and hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.

15 Doch neuerdings seid andern Sinnes Ihr geworden und tatet, was in meinen Augen richtig war, und habt einander Freiheit ausgerufen. Ihr schlosset einen Bund vor mir im Haus, das meinen Namen trägt.

And ye were now turned, and had done that which is right in mine eyes, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:

16 Doch ihr entweiht aufs neue meinen Namen. Ein jeder holt den Sklaven und die Sklavin wieder, die ihr aus eignem Willen freigelassen. Ihr unterwerft sie mit Gewalt zu Sklaven und zu Sklavinnen für euch."

but ye turned and profaned my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had let go free at their pleasure, to return; and ye brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.

17 Darum spricht so der Herr: "Bewilligt ihr aus Ungehorsam gegen mich einander keine Freiheit, dann künde ich euch Freiheit an", ein Spruch des Herrn, "für Schwert, für Pest und Hunger. Ich mache euch zu einem Schreckensbild für alle Reiche auf der Erde.

Therefore thus saith the LORD: Ye have not hearkened unto me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim unto you a liberty, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth.

18 All die Männer, die meinen Bund gebrochen und die Worte des vor mir geschlossenen Bundes nicht gehalten haben, die mache ich zum Kalb, das sie entzweigeschnitten und zwischen dessen Stücken sie hindurchgeschritten.

And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me, when they cut the calf in twain and passed between the parts thereof;

19 Die Fürsten Judas und Jerusalems, die Kämmerer, die Priester, des Landes ganzes Volk, das mitten durch

the princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf;

20 des Kalbes Stücke hindurchgeschritten, gebe ich in ihrer Gegner Hände und in die Hände ihrer Todfeinde. Zum Fraße sollen ihre Leichen des Himmels Vögeln dienen, dem Getier des Feldes.

I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.

21 Ich gebe Judas König, Sedekias, wie seine Fürsten auch jetzt ihren Gegnern preis und ihren Todfeinden, in die Gewalt des Heers des Babelkönigs, das von euch abgezogen ist.

And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which are gone up from you.

22 So ordne ich es an", ein Spruch des Herrn, "und bringe wieder sie zu dieser Stadt zurück. Sie streiten gegen sie, erobern und verbrennen sie. Auch Judas Städte mache ich zur unbewohnten Wüste."

Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.
