Jeremia 13

1 So sprach der Herr zu mir: "Auf! Kauf dir einen Leinengürtel! Leg ihn um deine Hüften! Doch bring ihn nicht ins Wasser!"

Thus says the LORD unto me, Go and get you a linen girdle, and put it upon your loins, and put it not in water.

2 Da kaufte ich den Gürtel nach des Herrn Geheiß und legte ihn um meine Hüften.

So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.

3 Hierauf erging das Wort des Herrn an mich zum zweitenmal:

And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,

4 "Den Gürtel, den du dir gekauft und an den Hüften hast, nimm mit! Auf! Zieh zum Euphrat hin! Verbirg ihn dort in einer Felsenspalte!"

Take the girdle that you have got, which is upon your loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

5 Ich ging und barg ihn dort am Euphrat, wie mir der Herr geboten.

So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

6 Und es geschah nach vielen Tagen; da sprach der Herr zu mir: "Auf! Zieh zum Euphrat hin und hol daselbst den Gürtel, den ich dich dort verbergen hieß!"

And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded you to hide there.

7 Ich zog zum Euphrat hin und suchte nach und nahm den Gürtel von der Stelle, wo ich ihn versteckt, und siehe da, der Gürtel war verdorben; zu nichts mehr tauglich.

Then I went to Euphrates, and dug, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was ruined, it was profitable for nothing.

8 Darauf erging das Wort des Herrn an mich.

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

9 Der Herr sprach also: "Auf gleiche Art vernichte ich auch Judas Glanz und den Jerusalems, so groß er ist.

Thus says the LORD, After this manner will I ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

10 Dem bösen Volk, das sich jetzt weigert, meine Worte anzuhören, und das im Trotze seines Herzens wandelt und hinter anderen Göttern läuft, sie zu verehren und sie anzubeten, ihm soll's genau so gehn wie diesem Gürtel, der zu nichts mehr taugt.

This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

11 Wie sich der Gürtel schmiegt an eines Mannes Hüften, ließ ich an mich das ganze Haus von Israel sich schmiegen und das von Juda", ein Spruch des Herrn, "damit es mir zum Volk, zum Lob und Ruhm und Schmucke diene. Sie aber hörten nicht.

For as the girdle cleaves to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, says the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

12 So sage ihnen dieses Wort: So spricht der Herr, Gott Israels: 'Mit Wein wird jedes Weingefäß gefüllt'; und sagen sie zu dir: 'Ja, dürfen wir nicht wissen, weshalb man jeden Krug mit Wein soll füllen?',

Therefore you shall speak unto them this word; Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto you, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

13 dann sage ihnen - Also spricht der Herr: 'Erfüllen will ich wirklich alle, die dieses Land bewohnen, die Könige, die auf dem Davidsthrone sitzen, die Priester und Propheten und alle Einwohner Jerusalems mit Trunkenheit,

Then shall you say unto them, Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

14 und ich zerschlage sie, den einen an dem andern, die Väter und die Söhne allzumal'; ein Spruch des Herrn: 'Ich schone nicht, bedaure nicht, und kein Erbarmen hält mich ab, sie zu vernichten.'"

And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

15 So hört! Merkt auf! Seid doch nicht stolz! Der Herr hat ja geredet.

Hear all of you, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD has spoken.

16 Die Ehre gebet eurem Gott, dem Herrn, bevor es dunkel wird, bevor sich eure Füße an den finstern Bergen stoßen. Ihr sehnet euch nach Licht; er macht's zu tiefem Dunkel und hüllt's in dichte Nacht.

Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while all of you look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

17 Doch hört ihr nicht darauf, dann muß ich herzlich still beweinen euren stolzen Sinn. Und unaufhörlich weint mein Auge; es zerfließt in Tränen, weil des Herren Herde gefangen wird hinweggeführt.

But if all of you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.

18 So sprich zum König und zur Herrin: "Zu unterst setzt euch hin! Herab von eurem Haupt ist eure Krone voller Pracht gesunken.

Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.

19 Des Südlands Städte sind umschlossen, und niemand ist, der sie befreit. Ganz Juda wird jetzt weggeführt, hinweggeführt bis auf den letzten Mann."

The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.

20 Heb deine Augen auf und sieh, wie sie von Norden kommen! Wo bleibt die Herde, die dir anvertraut, wo deine schmucken Schafe?

Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?

21 Was sagst du, stellt er dich jetzt unter Aufsicht? Du selber hast sie an die Herrschaft über dich gewöhnt, als erste Lieblinge. Ja, packen dich dann nicht die Wehen, gleich einem Weibe, das gebiert?

What will you say when he shall punish you? for you have taught them to be captains, and as chief over you: shall not sorrows take you, as a woman in travail?

22 Und fragst du dich: "Warum geschieht mir dies?" Bei deiner großen Schlechtigkeit war deine Schleppe immer aufgedeckt, und deine Fersen waren wund gerieben.

And if you say in your heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of your iniquity are your skirts discovered, and your heels made bare.

23 Kann wohl ein Neger seine Haut, ein Pardel seine Flecken ändern? Nur dann könnt ihr auch besser werden, die ihr gewohnt seid, schlecht zu handeln.

Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may all of you also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

24 "Und ich zerstreue euch wie Stoppeln, die vor dem Wüstenwind verfliegen.

Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.

25 Das sei dein Los, dies sei dein Teil, von mir dir zugemessen!" Ein Spruch des Herrn. "Weil du vergessen mich, auf Lüge dich verlassen,

This is your lot, the portion of your measures from me, says the LORD; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

26 will ich dir dein Gewand bis ins Gesicht aufdecken, daß deine Schande sichtbar werde.

Therefore will I discover your skirts upon your face, that your shame may appear.

27 Dein Ehebrechen, dein Gewieher und deine unverschämte Buhlerei, auf Hügeln und im freien Feld hab ich gesehen deine Greuel. Weh dir, Jerusalem! Du bist nicht rein. Wie lange noch?"

I have seen your adulteries, and your neighings, the lewdness of your whoredom, and your abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto you, O Jerusalem! will you not be made clean? when shall it once be?
