Jesaja 8
1 Dann sprach der Herr zu mir: "Nimm her dir eine große Tafel und schreib in Volksschrift also drauf: 'Her stürzt die Plünderung.' 'Her rast der Raub!'" -
And the Lord said unto me, Take thyself a large table, and write on it with distinct letters, Lemaher-shalal-chash-bas.
2 Glaubwürdige Männer stellte ich als Zeugen auf, Urias, einen Priester, und Zacharias, Jeberechjas Sohn.
And I was to summon for myself trustworthy witnesses, Uriyah the priest, and Zecharyahu the son of Yeberechyahu.
3 Dann nahte ich mich der Prophetin; sie wurde guter Hoffnung und schenkte einem Sohn das Leben. Dann sprach der Herr zu mir: "Benenne ihn mit Namen: 'Her stürzt die Plünderung.' 'Her stürzt der Raub!'
And I came near unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the Lord to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-chash-bas.
4 Denn ehe noch der Knabe rufen kann: 'Mein Vater! Meine Mutter!', wird schon der Reichtum von Damaskus vor dem König der Assyrer hergetragen sein sowie die Beute von Samaria."
For before yet the boy shall know to call, My father, and my mother, the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria.
5 Dann sprach der Herr zu mir:
And the Lord continued to speak unto me again, saying,
6 "Verächtlich denkt dies Volk vom sanften Bach Siloa und von dem Wassergraben gegen den Remaljasohn und Resin."
Forasmuch as this people despiseth the waters of Shiloach that flow softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remalyahu's son:
7 So läßt der Herr deswegen aber sie herfluten das mächtige, gewaltige Gewässer aus dem Strom - den König von Assyrien und seine ganze Wucht -, und über seine Dämme steigt es allenthalben, und über alle seine Ufer tritt es aus. -
Yea therefore behold, the Lord bringeth up over them the strong and many waters of the river, —the king of Assyria, and all his glory; and he shall come up over all his channels, and step over all his banks;
8 In Juda dringt es ein und überschwemmt und überströmt es; es reicht ihm bis zum Halse. - Und seiner Flügel Spanne bedeckt dein Land, so breit es ist, Immanuel.
And he shall penetrate into Judah, overflow and flood over, even to the neck shall he reach; and his outstretched wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O 'Immanu-el.
9 Weint, Völker, bebt! Horcht auf, ihr fernen Gegenden der Erde all! Zum Kampfe rüstet euch! Erbebt! Zum Kampf rüstet euch! Erbebt!
Associate yourselves, O ye people, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of the far portions of the earth: gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces.
10 Auf Schmiedet Pläne! Sie werden doch vereitelt. Faßt nur Beschlüsse! Sie werden doch nicht durchgesetzt. Mit uns ist Gott. -
Take counsel together, yet shall it come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand firm; for with us is God.
11 Ja, also sprach der Herr zu mir, und seine Hand lag schwer auf mir, um mich zu warnen, die Wege dieses Volkes zu betreten:
For thus said the Lord to me with the strength of prophecy, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
12 "Ihr sollt nicht Hochverrat es nennen, was dieses Volk als Hochverrat bezeichnet! Habt keine Furcht vor seiner Furcht-, erschauert nicht!
Call ye not a conspiracy all that this people may call a conspiracy, and what it feareth shall ye not fear, and be not terrified [thereat].
13 Für hehr und heilig sehet an den Herrn der Heeresscharen! Nur der sei eure Furcht! Nur der sei euer Schrecken!
The Lord of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your terror.
14 Er wird wie ein Gewicht, ein Stein des Anstoßes, ein Block des Strauchelns für beide Häuser Israels, wie eine Schlinge, eine Falle für die Einwohner Jerusalems.
And he will be for a sanctuary; but also for a stone of stumbling and for a rock to fall over unto both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
15 Dort stoßen viele sich, zerschmettern sich im Fall; hier werden viele in das Garn verwickelt und gefangen.
And many shall stumble over them, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and be caught.
16 Verschnüre die Vermahnung! Versiegle die Verkündigung mit Siegelwachs!"
Bind up the testimony, seal up the law among my disciples.
17 Doch ich vertraue auf den Herrn. Er hat zwar seinen Blick dem Jakobshaus entzogen; und doch, ich hoffe fest auf ihn.
And I will wait for the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope for him.
18 Fürwahr, ich selber samt den Söhnen, die mir der Herr geschenkt, sind Zeichen jetzt und Vorbilder in Israel, geschenkt vom Herrn der Heeresscharen, der auf dem Sionsberge wohnt.
Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for tokens in Israel, from the Lord of hosts who dwelleth on mount Zion.
19 Und wenn man zu euch sagt: "Befragt die Totengeister und die Wahrsaggeister, die piependen, die murmelnden!" Dann sage ich: "Soll nicht ein Volk nur seinen Gott befragen? Soll man die Toten fragen für die Lebenden?" -
And when they shall say unto you, “Inquire of those that have familiar spirits, and of the wizards, that whisper, and that mutter:” should not a people inquire of their God? [should we then] in behalf of the living [inquire] of the dead?
20 Doch stimmen sie in Mahnung und Verwarnung nicht überein mit jenem Spruch, in dem kein Dunkel ist,
[Hold] to the law and to the testimony: if they are not to speak according to this word, in which there is no light.
21 dann zieht man darob hin, gebeugt und hungernd, und weil man Hunger leidet, gerät man in Verzweiflung und flucht dann seinem Könige und seinen Göttern. Wenn man nach oben schaut
And the [people] shall pass through [the land], hard oppressed and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they will become enraged, and curse their king and their god, and turn toward on high [for aid].
22 und blickt man auf die Erde, nur ängstigendes Dunkel und jämmerliche Finsternis!
And they will look unto the earth; and behold there are trouble and darkness, dimness of oppression, and they shall be scattered into obscurity.
