Jesaja 58

1 "Ruf ungehemmt aus vollem Halse! Posaunen gleich erhebe deine Stimme! Vermelde meinem Volke seinen Frevel, dem Hause Jakobs seine Sünden!

"Cry aloud, do not spare, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Zwar fragen sie mich Tag für Tag und möchten meine Wege gerne kennen. Als wären sie ein Volk, das täte, was da recht, und die Gesetze seines Gottes nie verließe, so fordern sie von mir Behandlung, die gerecht sein soll verlangen eine göttliche Kundgebung:"

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways: as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.

3 'Wozu nur fasten wir? Du achtest nicht darauf. Kasteien uns? Du merkst es nicht.' Seht! Fastet ihr, dann tut ihr nur, was euch gefällt. Ihr hetzet alle eure Arbeitsleute ab.

'Why have we fasted,' say they, 'and you do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge?' "Look, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and exact all your labors.

4 Bei Streit und Zanken fastet ihr, beim Dreinhaun mit der frevlen Faust. Ihr solltet vorerst nicht so fasten. Sonst hört man euren Lärm sogar im Himmel.

Look, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wickedness: you do not fast this day so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

5 Soll etwa das ein Fasttag sein, wie ich ihn liebe, wenn jemand leibliche Genüsse sich versagt und seinen Kopf wie Schilf läßt hängen und sich auf rauhes Tuch und Asche bettet? Ja, willst du das ein Fasten heißen und einen Tag, dem Herrn gefällig?

Is such the fast that I have chosen? the day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a rush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

6 Ist nicht erst das ein Fasten, wie ich es liebe: des Unrechts Bande öffnen, des Joches Knoten lösen, Geknechtete befreien und daß du jeglich Joch zertrümmerst?

"Isn't this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

7 Nicht das: den Hungrigen dein Brot mitbrechen und obdachlose Arme in dein Haus einführen, und siehst du einen nackt, daß du ihn kleidest und dich nicht deinem Fleisch entziehst?

Isn't it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?

8 Dann bricht dein Licht hervor wie Morgenrot, und schnell vernarben deine Wunden. Dein Heil zieht vor dir her, und deine Nachhut ist die Herrlichkeit des Herrn.

Then your light shall break forth as the morning, and your healing shall spring forth speedily; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

9 Du rufst; der Herr gibt Antwort. Du schreist um Hilfe, und er spricht: 'Ich bin schon da.' Entferne nur von dir Bedrückung, den abgefeimten Trug, das Unheilreden!

Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedly;

10 Und teilst du mit dem Hungrigen dein Brot, und sättigst du den Schmachtenden, dann strahlt in Dunkelheit dein Licht, und deine Finsternis wird gleich dem Mittag hell.

and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then your light shall rise in darkness, and your obscurity be as the noonday;

11 Beständig leitet dich der Herr und stillt in dürren Landen deinen Hunger, und dein Gebein füllt er mit Mark. Du gleichst dann einem Garten, wohlgetränkt, und einem Wasserborne, unversieglich.

and the LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make strong your bones; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

12 Der Vorzeit Trümmer bauen deine Leute auf: Grundsteine legst du für die spätesten Geschlechter. Du heißt 'Rissevermaurer', heißt 'der Pfade Neubeleber'. - 'Für den Sabbat'.

Those who shall be of you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

13 Wenn du zurückhältst deinen Fuß des Sabbats wegen und nicht an meinem heiligen Tag Geschäfte treibst, und wenn du eine Lust den Sabbat nennst und ehrenwert den, der dem Herrn geheiligt, und ehrst ihn dadurch, daß du keine Gänge machst, nicht dein Geschäft betreibst und nicht Verträge schließest,

"If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of the LORD honorable; and shall honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:

14 dann hast du deine Freude an dem Herrn. Auf Landes Höhen lasse ich dich wandeln, ich gebe dir das Erbe deines Vaters Jakob." - Gesprochen hat's der Mund des Herrn.

then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth; and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father:" for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
