Jesaja 26
1 An jenem Tage singt man dieses Lied im Judalande. "Wir haben eine feste Stadt, und Hilfe schaffen Mauern und das Bollwerk.
In that day they shall sing this song in the land of Judea; Behold a strong city; and he shall make salvation [its] wall and bulwark.
2 Macht auf die Tore! Ein frommes, treuergebenes Volk zieht ein.
Open you the gates, let the nation enter that keeps righteousness, and keeps truth,
3 Die festgebaute Stadt machst Du zum Frieden, zum Frieden, weil sie sich auf Dich verläßt.
supporting truth, and keeping peace: for on you, O Lord,
4 Verlaßt euch immer auf den Herrn, ja, auf den Herrn! Der Herr ein Fels der Ewigkeit!
they have trusted with confidence for ever, the great, the eternal God;
5 Zu Boden hat er die Hochthronenden geworfen, hinabgestürzt die hochgelegene Stadt, darnieder bis zur Erde und sie in den Staub gestoßen!
who have humbled and brought down them that dwell on high, you shall cast down strong cities, and bring them to the ground.
6 Dann sollen Füße drüber wandeln, die Füße Armer und geringer Leute Tritt! -
And the feet of the meek and lowly shall trample them.
7 Den Frommen wird ein ebener Pfad zuteil; den Weg des Frommen ebnest Du, Gerechter.
The way of the godly is made straight: the way of the godly is also prepared.
8 Wir hoffen, Herr; auf Dich vertraun wir, Herr, daß Du vollziehest Deine Strafen; nach Deinem Ruhme, Deinem Preis verlangt die Seele. -
For the way of the Lord is judgment: we have hoped in your name, and on the remembrance [of you],
9 Nach Dir verlangt es mich des Nachts. Nach Dir sehnt sich mein Geist in mir; wenn Deine Strafen träfen, dann lernten auch die Weltbewohner das, was recht. -
which our soul longs for: my spirit seeks you very early in the morning, O God, for your commandments are a light on the earth: learn righteousness, you that dwell upon the earth.
10 Wird so ein Bösewicht begnadigt, dann lernt er nie das Rechte. Im Land, wo Recht und Tugend herrschen, verübt er nur Verkehrtes, und nicht beachtet er des Herren Herrscherhoheit. -
For the ungodly one is put down: no one who will not learn righteousness on the earth, shall be able to do the truth: let the ungodly be taken away, that he see not the glory of the Lord.
11 Herr! Hocherhoben ist Dein Arm; sie schauen nicht darauf. So sollen sie voll Scham nur schauen den Eifer für das Volk, wenn Feuer Deine Feinde fressen wird!
O Lord, your arm is exalted, yet they knew it not: but when they know they shall be ashamed: jealousy shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries.
12 Du wirst uns Heil verschaffen, Herr. Denn alles, was uns traf, hast Du an uns getan.
O Lord our God, give us peace: for you have rendered to us all things.
13 Herr, unser Gott! Uns meistern andere Herrn als Du; doch rühmen möchten wir nur Dich allein.
O Lord our God, take possession of us: O Lord, we know not [any] other beside you: we name your name.
14 Sie sollen sterben, ohne wieder aufzuleben; sie seien Gespenster, ohne wieder aufzustehen! Drum strafe sie, vertilge sie, und ihr Gedächtnis lösche aus!
But the dead shall not see life, neither shall physicians by any means raise [them] up: therefore you have brought [wrath] upon [them], and slain [them], and have taken away every male of them. Bring more evils upon them, O Lord;
15 Herr! Nimm ein Heidenvolk, ein Heidenvolk ums andre vor, erwirb Dir Ruhm bis weithin zu der Erde Grenzen!
bring more evils on the glorious ones of the earth.
16 Da sollen sie Dich suchen, Herr, in ihrer Not, ergießen sich in der Beschwörung Deiner Züchtigung, die ihnen werden soll.
Lord, in affliction I remembered you; your chastening was to us with small affliction.
17 Wie eine Mutter, der Entbindung nahe, sich windet und in ihren Wehen schreit, so sind wir, Herr, vor Dir.
And as a woman in travail draws near to be delivered, [and] cries out in her pain; so have we been to your beloved.
18 Wir gehen schwanger, haben Wehen; wenn wir gebären, ist's nur Wind. Der Erde können wir kein Glück verschaffen, und Weltbewohner kommen nicht ans Licht.
We have conceived, O Lord, because of your fear, and have been in pain, and have brought forth the breath of your salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth: we shall not fall, but all that dwell upon the land shall fall.
19 Doch Deine Toten mögen leben und meine Leichen auferstehen! Erwachet! Jubelt! Staubbewohner! Dein Tau ist ein heilsamer Tau, wenn Du ihn auf das Land der Schatten fallen lässest." -
The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised, and they that are in the earth shall rejoice: for the dew from you is healing to them: but the land of the ungodly shall perish.
20 Wohlan, mein Volk, geh nun in deine Kammern! Verschließe hinter dir die Tür! Verbirg dich eine kleine Weile, bis daß der Zorn vorübergeht!
Go, my people, enter into your closets, shut your door, hide yourself for a little season, until the anger of the Lord have passed away.
21 Denn seht! Der Herr bricht schon von seinem Orte auf, die Missetat der Erdbewohner zu bestrafen. Die Erde deckt Blutströme auf, bedeckt nicht länger die auf ihr Erwürgten.
For, behold, the Lord is bringing wrath from [his] holy place upon the dwellers on the earth: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall not cover her slain.
