1 Mose 40
1 Nach jenen Begebnissen geschah es, daß sich des ägyptischen Königs Mundschenk und Bäcker gegen ihren Herrn, den König von Ägypten, vergingen.
It came about that after these things, the cupbearer of the king of Egypt and king's baker offended their master, the king of Egypt.
2 Und Pharao ergrimmte über seine beiden Hofleute, über den Obermundschenk und den Oberbäcker.
Pharaoh was angry with his two officials, the chief of the cupbearers and the chief of the bakers.
3 Er ließ sie in Gewahrsam legen, ins Haus des Anführers der Leibwache, in den Kerker, an die Stätte, wo Joseph gefangen saß.
He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the same prison where Joseph was confined.
4 Und der Anführer der Leibwächter gab ihnen Joseph bei, sie zu bedienen. So blieben sie längere Zeit im Gewahrsam.
The captain of the guard assigned Joseph to them, and he served them. They remained in custody for some time.
5 Da träumten beide in der gleichen Nacht, und zwar jeder einen besonderen Traum, des ägyptischen Königs Mundschenk und Bäcker, die im Kerker saßen.
Both of them dreamed a dream—the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt who were confined in the prison—each man had his own dream in the same night, and each dream had its own interpretation.
6 Am Morgen kam Joseph zu ihnen und sah sie an. Da waren sie verstimmt.
Joseph came to them in the morning and saw them. Behold, they were sad.
7 Da fragte er des Pharaos Höflinge, die mit ihm im Gewahrsam in seines Herrn Haus waren: "Warum macht ihr heute solch böse Gesichter?"
He asked Pharaoh's officials who were with him in custody in his master's house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
8 Sie sprachen zu ihm: "Wir haben einen Traum gehabt, und niemand ist da, der ihn deute." Da sprach Joseph zu ihnen: "Sind Deutungen nicht Gottes Sache? Erzählt mir doch!"
They said to him, “We have both dreamed a dream and no one can interpret it.” Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me, please.”
9 Da erzählte der Obermundschenk dem Joseph seinen Traum und sprach zu ihm: "In meinem Traume stand vor mir ein Weinstock.
The chief of the cupbearers told his dream to Joseph. He said to him, “In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me.
10 Und am Weinstock sind drei Ranken. Er schlägt aus; dann kommt er zum Blühen, und schon tragen seine Kämme reife Trauben.
In the vine were three branches. As it budded, its blossoms came out and the clusters of grapes ripened.
11 Ich aber habe Pharaos Becher in der Hand, nehme die Trauben, presse sie in Pharaos Becher aus und gebe den Becher dem Pharao in die Hand."
Pharaoh's cup was in my hand. I took the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I placed the cup into Pharaoh's hand.”
12 Da sprach Joseph zu ihm: "Dies ist seine Deutung: Drei Ranken sind drei Tage.
Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it. The three branches are three days.
13 Drei Tage noch, dann nimmt dich Pharao persönlich vor und stellt dich wieder auf deinen Posten, und du reichst Pharao wieder den Becher, ganz wie früher, als du sein Mundschenk gewesen.
Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office. You will put Pharaoh's cup into his hand, just as when you were his cupbearer.
14 Denkst du also an mich, wenn es dir wieder gut geht, dann habe die Güte, mich beim Pharao zu empfehlen und mir so aus diesem Hause zu helfen!
But think of me when it goes well with you, and please show kindness to me. Mention me to Pharaoh and bring me out of this prison.
15 Denn aus der Hebräer Land bin ich entführt worden, und auch hier habe ich nichts verbrochen, daß sie mich in den Kerker werfen mußten."
For indeed I was abducted out of the land of the Hebrews. Here also have I done nothing that they should put me in this dungeon.”
16 Als der Oberbäcker bemerkte, daß er zum Guten ausgelegt, sprach er zu Joseph: "In meinem Traume waren auf meinem Kopf drei geflochtene Körbe.
When the chief of the bakers saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, “I also had a dream, and, behold, three baskets of bread were on my head.
17 Im obersten der Körbe waren allerlei Eßwaren für den Pharao, Backwerk; jedoch die Vögel fraßen es aus dem Korb auf meinem Kopfe weg."
In the top basket there were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
18 Da erwiderte Joseph und sprach: "Dies ist die Deutung: Drei Körbe sind drei Tage.
Joseph answered and said, “This is the interpretation. The three baskets are three days.
19 Drei Tage noch, dann nimmt dich der Pharao persönlich in deiner Sache vor; dann hängt er dich an das Holz, und dann fressen die Vögel dein Fleisch von dir ab."
Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and will hang you on a tree. The birds will eat your flesh off you.”
20 Am dritten Tage war es, dem Geburtstag Pharaos; da bereitete er ein Mahl für alle seine Diener. Dabei nahm er den Obermundschenk und den Oberbäcker im Beisein seiner Diener persönlich vor.
It came about on the third day that it was Pharaoh's birthday. He made a feast for all his servants. He lifted up the head of the chief of the cupbearers and the head of the chief of the bakers, among his servants.
21 Da setzte er den Obermundschenk wieder zu seinem Mundschenk ein, und er durfte Pharao den Becher wieder reichen.
He restored the chief of the cupbearers to his responsibility, and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand again.
22 Den Oberbäcker aber ließ er hängen, wie ihnen Joseph vorhergesagt.
But he hanged the chief of the bakers, just as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Der Obermundschenk aber gedachte nicht mehr Josephs. Er vergaß ihn.
Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot about him.
