1 Mose 4
1 Der Mensch aber hatte sein Weib Eva erkannt. Da empfing sie und gebar Kain. Da sprach sie: "Ich habe mit des Herrn Beistand einem Manne das Leben gegeben."
Forsothe Adam knewe Eue his wijf, which conseyuede, and childide Cayn, and seide, Y haue gete a man bi God.
2 Und zum zweitenmal gebar sie seinen Bruder Abel. Und Abel ward ein Schafhirte; Kain aber war Ackersmann geworden.
And efte sche childide his brother Abel. Forsothe Abel was a kepere of scheep, and Cayn was an erthe tilyere.
3 Nach einiger Zeit geschah es, daß Kain von den Ackerfrüchten dem Herrn ein Opfer brachte.
Sotheli it was don after many daies, that Cayn offride yiftis to the Lord of the fruytis of erthe;
4 Auch Abel brachte ein Opfer von den Erstlingswürfen seiner Schafe dar, und zwar von den wohlgenährtesten. Und der Herr achtete auf Abel und sein Opfer.
and Abel offride of the first gendrid of his floc, and of the fatnesse of tho. And the Lord bihelde to Abel and to the yiftis of hym;
5 Aber auf Kain und sein Opfer achtete er nicht. Da ward Kain sehr ergrimmt, und sein Antlitz sank ein.
sotheli he bihelde not to Cayn and to hise yiftis. And Cayn was wrooth greetli, and his cheer felde doun.
6 Da sprach der Herr zu Kain: "Warum bist du ergrimmt? Weswegen sinkt dein Antlitz ein?
And the Lord seide to hym, Whi art thou wrooth, and whi felde doun thi face?
7 Nicht wahr? Bist frohen Sinnes du, dann kannst du es erheben. Wenn aber nicht, dann ruhst du an der Sünde Pforte; da lauert sie auf dich, du aber solltest sie bezwingen!"
Whether not if thou schalt do wel, thou schalt resseyue; but if thou doist yuele, thi synne schal be present anoon in the yatis? but the desir therof schal be vndur thee, and thou schalt be lord therof.
8 Kain aber sprach mit seinem Bruder Abel, und da sie auf dem Felde waren, vergriff sich Kain an seinem Bruder Abel und schlug ihn tot.
And Cayn seide to Abel his brother, Go we out. And whanne thei weren in the feeld, Cayn roos ayens his brother Abel, and killide him.
9 Da sprach der Herr zu Kain: "Wo ist dein Bruder Abel?" Er sprach:"Ich weiß es nicht. Bin ich denn meines Bruders Hüter?"
And the Lord seide to Cayn, Where is Abel thi brother? Which answerde, Y woot not; whether Y am the kepere of my brothir?
10 Da sprach er: "Was hast du getan? Deines Bruders Blut schreit von der Erde auf zu mir.
And God seide to Cayn, What hast thou do? the vois of the blood of thi brother crieth to me fro erthe.
11 Nun sei verflucht! Fern von dem Boden, der den Mund geöffnet, um deines Bruders Blut aus deiner Hand zu trinken!
Now therfor thou schalt be cursid on erthe, that openyde his mouth, and resseyuede of thin hond the blood of thi brothir.
12 Bebauest du den Boden, so gebe er dir fortan keine Ernte! Durchziehe irr und wirr die Erde!"
Whanne thou schalt worche the erthe, it schal not yyue his fruytis to thee; thou schalt be vnstable of dwellyng and fleynge aboute on erthe in alle the daies of thi lijf.
13 Da sprach Kain zum Herrn: "Allzugroß für das Vergeben ist meine Schuld.
And Cayn seide to the Lord, My wickidnesse is more than that Y disserue foryyuenesse; lo!
14 So vertreibst du mich heute vom Ackerboden. Und vor deinem Angesichte muß ich mich verbergen. Irr und wirr muß ich die Erde durchwandern. Und wer mich trifft, kann mich erschlagen."
to dai thou castist me out fro the face of the erthe; and Y schal be hid fro thi face, and Y schal be vnstable of dwellyng and fleynge aboute in erthe; therfore ech man that schal fynde me schal slee me.
15 Da sprach der Herr zu ihm: "Nein! Wer den Kain erschlägt, verfalle der Rache siebenfachmal." Und der Herr machte Kain ein Zeichen, auf daß ihn keiner, der ihn träfe, erschlüge.
And the Lord seide to hym, It schal not be don so, but ech man that schal slee Cayn shal be punyschid seuenfold. And the Lord settide a signe in Cayn, that ech man that schulde fynde hym schulde not slee hym.
16 So zog Kain vom Herrn hinweg und siedelte im Lande Nod, östlich von Eden.
And Cayn yede out fro the face of the Lord, and dwellide fleynge aboute in erthe, at the eest coost of Eden.
17 Und Kain erkannte sein Weib, und sie empfing und gebar Henoch. Dann baute er eine Stadt und hieß die Stadt nach seines Sohnes Namen Henoch.
Forsothe Cayn knewe his wiif, which conseyuede, and childide Enoth; and Cayn bildide a citee, and clepide the name therof of the name of hise sone Enoth.
18 Dem Henoch ward Irad geboren, und Irad zeugte Mechujael und Mechujael Metusael und Metusael Lamech.
Forsothe Enoth gendride Irad, and Irad gendride Manyael, and Manyael gendride Matusael, and Matusael gendride Lameth;
19 Und Lamech nahm sich zwei Weiber: die eine hieß Ada, die andere Silla.
that took twei wyues, the name to o wijf was Ada, and the name to the tother was Sella.
20 Ada gebar den Jabal; dieser ward der Stammvater der Zeltbewohner und Viehzüchter.
And Ada gendride Jabel, that was the fadir of dwellers in tentis and of shepherdis;
21 Sein Bruder hieß Jubal; dieser ward der Stammvater aller Zither- und Flötenspieler.
and the name of his brother was Tubal, he was the fadir of syngeris in harpe and orgun.
22 Auch Silla gebar und zwar den Tubalkain, der allerlei ehernes und eisernes Werk schmiedete. Und Tubalkains Schwester war Naama.
And Sella gendride Tubalcayn, that was an hamerbetere, and smyyt on alle werkis of bras and of yrun; forsothe the sistir of Tubalcayn was Neoma.
23 Lamech sprach zu seinen Weibern: "Ada und Silla, höret meine Rede! Lamechs Weiber, vernehmet meinen Spruch! Für meine Wunde kann ich Männer jetzt erschlagen, für meine Beulen ihre Söhne.
And Lameth seide to his wyues Ada and Sella, Ye wyues of Lameth, here my vois, and herkne my word; for Y haue slayn a man bi my wounde, and a yong wexynge man bi my `violent betyng;
24 Wird Kain schon siebenfach gerächt, dann Lamech siebenundsiebzigfach."
veniaunce schal be youun seuenfold of Cayn, forsothe of Lameth seuentisithis seuensithis.
25 Adam aber erkannte wiederum sein Weib, und sie gebar einen Sohn. Den nannte sie Set. "Denn", sprach sie, "Gott hat mir an Abels Stelle andere Nachkommen geschenkt, weil jenen Kain erschlagen hatte."
Also yit Adam knewe his wijf, and sche childide a sone, and clepide his name Seth, and seide, God hath put to me another seed for Abel, whom Cayn killide.
26 Aber auch dem Set ward ein Sohn geboren, und er hieß ihn Enos. Damals begann man, des Herrn Namen anzurufen.
But also a sone was borun to Seth, which sone he clepide Enos; this Enos bigan to clepe inwardli the name of the Lord.
