1 Mose 29
1 Da machte sich Jakob auf den Weg und wanderte ins Land der Söhne des Ostens.
Then Iaakob lift vp his feete and came into the East countrey.
2 Er schaute aus; da war im Feld ein Brunnen, und drei Schafherden lagerten daran; denn aus diesem Brunnen pflegte man die Herden zu tränken. Der Stein aber über dem Brunnenloch war groß.
And as he looked about, behold there was a well in the field, and lo, three flocks of sheepe lay thereby (for at that well were the flockes watered) and there was a great stone vpon the welles mouth.
3 Waren nun alle Herden dort beisammen, dann wälzte man den Stein vom Brunnenloch und tränkte die Schafe. Dann brachte man den Stein für das Brunnenloch wieder an seine Stelle.
And thither were all the flockes gathered, and they rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered the sheepe, and put the stone againe vpon the welles mouth in his place.
4 Da sprach Jakob zu ihnen: "Brüder! Wo seid ihr her?" Sie sagten: "Aus Charan."
And Iaakob sayde vnto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they answered, We are of Haran.
5 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Kennt ihr Laban, Nachors Sohn?" Sie sprachen: "Jawohl!"
Then he sayd vnto them, Know ye Laban the sonne of Nahor? Who said, We know him.
6 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Geht's ihm auch gut?" Sie sprachen: "Ja! Und da kommt gerade seine Tochter Rachel mit den Schafen."
Againe he sayd vnto them, Is he in good health? And they answered, He is in good health, and beholde, his daughter Rahel commeth with the sheepe.
7 Er sprach: "Noch ist's hoch am Tag und noch zu früh, das Vieh einzutreiben. Tränket die Schafe und weidet weiter!"
Then he sayd, Lo, it is yet hie day, neither is it time that the cattell shoulde be gathered together: water ye the sheepe and go feede them.
8 Sie sprachen: "Wir können es nicht, bis alle Herden beisammen sind; dann wälzt man den Stein vom Brunnenloch, und wir tränken die Schafe."
But they sayde, We may not vntill all the flocks be brought together, and till men rolle the stone from the welles mouth, that we may water the sheepe.
9 Noch redete er mit ihnen, da kam Rachel mit den Schafen ihres Vaters; denn sie war Hirtin.
While he talked with them, Rahel also came with her fathers sheepe, for she kept them.
10 Wie nun Jakob Rachel, die Tochter seines Mutterbruders Laban, erblickt hatte und die Schafe seines Mutterbruders Laban, da trat Jakob herzu und wälzte den Stein vom Brunnenloch und tränkte seines Mutterbruders Laban Schafe.
And assoone as Iaakob saw Rahel ye daughter of Laban his mothers brother, and the sheepe of Laban his mothers brother, then came Iaakob neere, and rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered ye flocke of Laban his mothers brother.
11 Dann küßte Jakob die Rachel und hob laut zu weinen an.
And Iaakob kissed Rahel, and lift vp his voyce and wept.
12 Und Jakob erzählte der Rachel, er sei ein Bruder ihres Vaters und zwar ein Sohn Rebekkas. Da lief sie und erzählte es ihrem Vater.
(For Iaakob tolde Rahel, that he was her fathers brother, and that he was Rebekahs sonne) then she ranne and tolde her father.
13 Wie Laban solche Kunde von seinem Schwestersohne Jakob vernahm, lief er ihm entgegen, umarmte und küßte ihn und führte ihn in sein Haus; jener aber erzählte Laban die ganze Geschichte.
And when Laban heard tell of Iaakob his sisters sonne, he ranne to meete him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house: and he tolde Laban all these things.
14 Und Laban sprach zu ihm: "So bist du also von meinem Bein und Fleisch." Als er einen Monat lang bei ihm war.
To whome Laban sayd, Well, thou art my bone and my flesh. and he abode with him the space of a moneth.
15 sprach Laban zu Jakob: "Wolltest du, weil du mein Bruder bist, mir umsonst dienen? Sag mir: Was soll dein Lohn sein?"
For Laban sayde vnto Iaakob, Though thou be my brother, shouldest thou therfore serue me for nought? tell me, what shalbe thy wages?
16 Nun hatte Laban zwei Töchter; die ältere hieß Lea, die jüngere Rachel.
Now Laban had two daughters, the elder called Leah, and the yonger called Rahel.
17 Lea hatte glanzlose Augen, Rachel aber war schön von Gestalt und Antlitz.
And Leah was tender eyed, but Rahel was beautifull and faire.
18 Und Jakob gewann Rachel lieb. Er sprach: "Ich diene dir sieben Jahre um Rachel, deine jüngere Tochter."
And Iaakob loued Rahel, and sayde, I will serue thee seuen yeeres for Rahel thy yonger daughter.
19 Laban sprach: "Besser, ich gebe sie dir als einem fremden Mann. Bleib bei mir!"
Then Laban answered, It is better that I giue her thee, then that I should giue her to another man: abide with me.
20 So diente Jakob um Rachel sieben Jahre, und sie dünkten ihm wie wenige Tage, weil er sie liebte.
And Iaakob serued seuen yeres for Rahel, and they seemed vnto him but a few dayes, because he loued her.
21 Dann sprach Jakob zu Laban: "Gib mir mein Weib! Denn meine Zeit ist um, daß ich sie heirate."
Then Iaakob sayde to Laban, Giue me my wife, that I may goe in to her: for my terme is ended.
22 Da lud Laban alle Männer des Ortes ein und bereitete ein Gastmahl.
Wherefore Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
23 Als es Abend ward, nahm er seine Tochter Lea und führte sie ihm zu, und er wohnte ihr bei.
But whe the euening was come, he tooke Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he went in vnto her.
24 Und Laban gab seine Magd Zilpa seiner Tochter Lea zur Magd.
And Laban gaue his mayde Zilpah to his daughter Leah, to be her seruant.
25 Am Morgen aber war es die Lea. Da sprach er zu Laban: "Was hast du mir da getan? Habe ich nicht um Rachel bei dir gedient? Warum hast du mich betrogen?"
But when the morning was come, behold, it was Leah. Then sayde he to Laban, Wherefore hast thou done thus to mee? did not I serue thee for Rahel? wherfore then hast thou beguiled me?
26 Laban sprach:"An unserem Ort ist's nicht der Brauch, die jüngere vor der Älteren wegzugehen.
And Laban answered, It is not the maner of this place, to giue the yonger before the elder.
27 Führe mit der einen die Woche zu Ende, dann werden wir dir auch die andere geben um den Dienst von weiteren sieben Jahren bei mir."
Fulfill seuen yeeres for her, and we wil also giue thee this for the seruice, which thou shalt serue me yet seuen yeeres more.
28 Und Jakob tat so und führte mit der einen die Woche zu Ende. Dann gab Laban ihm seine Tochter Rachel zum Weib.
Then Iaakob did so, and fulfilled her seuen yeeres, so he gaue him Rahel his daughter to be his wife.
29 Und Laban gab seiner Tochter seine Magd Bilha zur Magd.
Laban also gaue to Rahel his daughter Bilhah his mayde to be her seruant.
30 So wohnte er auch Rachel bei. Er liebte aber Rachel mehr als Lea, und so diente er bei ihm andere sieben Jahre.
So entred he in to Rahel also, and loued also Rahel more then Leah, and serued him yet seuen yeeres more.
31 Wie nun der Herr sah, daß Lea nicht geliebt wurde, öffnete er ihren Mutterschoß; Rachel aber blieb unfruchtbar.
When the Lord saw that Leah was despised, he made her fruitful: but Rahel was barren.
32 So empfing Lea, gebar einen Sohn und nannte ihn Ruben; denn sie sprach: "Gesehen hat ja der Herr mein Elend. Nun wird mein Mann mich liebgewinnen.
And Leah conceiued and bare a sonne, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Because the Lord hath looked vpon my tribulation, now therefore mine husband will loue me.
33 Wieder ward sie guter Hoffnung und gebar einen Sohn. Da sprach sie: "Gehört hat ja der Herr, daß ich ungeliebt bin. Darum gab er mir auch diesen." Und sie nannte ihn Simeon.
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and sayde, Because the Lord heard that I was hated, he hath therefore giuen me this sonne also, and she called his name Simeon.
34 Wieder ward sie guter Hoffnung und gebar einen Sohn. Da sprach sie: "Nun endlich wird sich mein Mann mit mir verbinden; drei Söhne habe ich ihm geboren." Darum nannte man ihn Levi.
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and said, Now at this time wil my husband keepe mee company, because I haue borne him three sonnes: therefore was his name called Leui.
35 Wieder ward sie guter Hoffnung und gebar einen Sohn. Da sprach sie: "Endlich kann ich den Herrn lobpreisen." Darum nannte sie ihn Juda. Danach hörte sie mit Gebären auf.
Moreouer shee conceiued againe and bare a sonne, saying, Nowe will I prayse the Lord: therefore shee called his name Iudah, and left bearing.
