1 Mose 28
1 Da rief Isaak den Jakob, segnete ihn, beschied ihn und sprach zu ihm: "Du darfst kein Weib aus Kanaans Töchtern freien!
Isaac called Jacob, blessed him, and commanded him, "You must not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.
2 Mach dich auf und zieh nach Paddan Aram, zum Haus der Betuel, des Vaters deiner Mutter, und freie dir dort ein Weib, eine der Töchter Labans, deines Mutterbruders!
Arise, go to Paddan Aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother's father. Take a wife from there from the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother.
3 Gott, der Allmächtige, segne dich, mache dich fruchtbar und mehre dich, daß du zu einer Menge Völker werdest!
May El Shaddai bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, that you may be a company of peoples,
4 Er verleihe dir Abrahams Segen, dir und deinem Stamme nach dir, daß du deiner Pilgerschaft Land zu eigen bekommst, das Gott dem Abraham verliehen!"
and give you the blessing of Abraham, to you, and to your descendants with you, that you may inherit the land where you travel, which God gave to Abraham."
5 So entließ Isaak den Jakob, und er zog nach Paddan Aram zu Betuels Sohn Laban, dem Aramäer, dem Bruder der Rebekka, der Mutter Jakobs und Esaus.
Isaac sent Jacob away. He went to Paddan Aram to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean, Rebekah's brother, Jacob's and Esau's mother.
6 Esau aber hatte bemerkt, daß Isaak den Jakob gesegnet und ihn nach Paddan Aram gesandt, sich dort ein Weib zu holen, und daß er ihn segnete und so beschied: 'Du darfst kein Weib aus Kanaans Töchtern nehmen',
Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan Aram, to take him a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a command, saying, "You must not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,"
7 und daß Jakob auf seinen Vater und seine Mutter hörte und nach Paddan Aram ging.
and that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and left for Paddan Aram.
8 Da merkte Esau, daß Kanaans Töchter seinem Vater Isaak mißfielen.
Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please Isaac, his father.
9 So ging Esau zu Ismael und nahm Machalat, die Tochter Ismaels, des Sohnes Abrahams, die Schwester Nebajots, zu seinen Weibern hin sich zum Weibe.
Esau went to Ishmael, and took, besides the wives that he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife.
10 Jakob aber zog von Beerseba aus und wanderte nach Charan.
Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 Und er kam an eine gewisse Stätte und übernachtete hier, weil die Sonne unterging. Er nahm einen von den Steinen der Stätte und machte ein Lager für sein Haupt und legte sich an dieser Stätte schlafen.
He came to a certain place, and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. He took one of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 Da träumte ihm: Auf der Erde stand eine Treppe, deren Spitze bis zum Himmel reichte, und darauf stiegen die Engel Gottes auf und ab.
And he dreamed. And look, a stairway was set upon the earth, and its top reached to heaven. And look, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
13 Da stand auch der Herr vor ihn, und sprach: "Ich bin der Herr, der Schutzgott deines Vaters Abraham und Isaaks; das Land, auf dem du ruhst, das gebe ich dir und deinem Stamme.
And God stood above it, and said, "I am the God of Abraham your grandfather, and the God of Isaac. The land on which you are lying I will give to you and to your descendants.
14 Dann wird dein Stamm dem Staub der Erde gleich; nach Westen, Osten, Norden, Süden breitest du dich aus. Dann segnen sich in dir der Erde Geschlechter alle, sowie in deinem Stamme.
Your descendants will be as the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. And through you and through your descendants will all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 Fürwahr, ich bin mit dir und hüte dich allüberall, wohin du gehst. Dann bringe ich dich auch zu diesem Boden wieder. Denn ich verlasse nimmer dich, bis ich vollbracht, was ich dir jetzt verheißen."
And look, I am with you, and will watch over you wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken of to you."
16 Da erwachte Jakob aus seinem Schlafe und sprach: "Wahrlich, der Herr ist an dieser Stätte, und ich wußte es nicht."
Then Jacob woke up from his sleep, and said, "Surely God is in this place, and I did not know it."
17 Und er erschauerte und sprach: "Wie schauervoll ist diese Stätte! Hier ist nichts anderes als Gottes Haus, und jenes ist die Himmelspforte."
He was afraid, and said, "How awesome is this place. This is none other than God's house, and this is the gate of heaven."
18 Frühmorgens nahm Jakob den Stein, den er zum Kopfpolster gemacht, stellte ihn als Malstein auf und goß Öl oben darauf.
And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up as a standing-stone, and poured oil on top of it.
19 Und er nannte jenen Ort Betel; vorher aber hieß die Stadt Luz.
He called the name of that place Bethel, though previously the city was named Luz.
20 Und Jakob machte ein Gelübde und sprach: "Ist Gott mit mir und behütet er mich auf dem Wege, den ich gehen muß, und gibt er mir Brot zur Nahrung und Kleider zur Bedeckung
Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and will watch over me on this journey I am taking, and will give me food to eat, and clothing to put on,
21 und kehre ich heil zu meines Vaters Haus heim, dann ist der Herr mir zum Schutzgott,
so that I return to my father's house safely, then he will be my God,
22 und dieser Stein, den ich als Malstein aufgestellt, wird ein Gotteshaus, und alles, was Du mir geben wirst, will ich Dir getreulich verzehnten."
and this stone, which I have set up as a standing-stone, will be God's house. Of all that you will give me I will surely give the tenth to you."
