1 So wurden vollendet der Himmel und die Erde und all ihre Vielfalt.
Thus the heauens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 Da feierte Gott am siebten Tage von seiner Arbeit, die er getan. Und er ruhte am siebten Tage ganz von seiner Arbeit, die er getan hatte.
For in the seuenth day GOD ended his worke which he had made, and the seuenth day he rested from al his worke, which he had made.
3 So segnete Gott den siebten Tag und weihte ihn. Denn an ihm hatte er völlig von seiner Arbeit geruht, die Gott zu tun geplant hatte.
So God blessed the seuenth day, and sanctified it, because that in it he had rested from all his worke, which God had created and made.
4 Dies ist die Entstehung des Himmels und der Erde, als sie erschaffen worden sind. Damals, als der Herr Gott Erde und Himmel gemacht hatte,
These are the generations of the heauens and of the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heauens,
5 war kein Feldgesträuch im Lande, und kein Feldgewächs sproßte; denn der Herr Gott hatte dem Lande noch keinen Regen gegeben. Auch waren keine Menschen da, die den Erdboden bebaut hätten.
And euery plant of the fielde, before it was in the earth, and euery herbe of the field, before it grewe: for the Lord God had not caused it to raine vpon the earth, neither was there a man to till the ground,
6 Und eine Wasserflut stieg von der Erde auf und tränkte des Erdbodens ganze Fläche.
But a myst went vp from the earth, and watered all the earth.
7 Da bildete der Herr Gott den Menschen aus Staub vom Boden und blies ihm Lebensodem in die Nase. So ward der Mensch zu einem Lebewesen.
The Lord God also made the man of the dust of the grounde, and breathed in his face breath of life, and the man was a liuing soule.
8 Nun hatte der Herr Gott im Osten einen Garten in Eden gepflanzt; dort ließ er nun den Menschen sein, den er gebildet hatte.
And the Lord God planted a garden Eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had made.
9 Allerlei Bäume, lieblich zur Schau und köstlich als Speise, hatte der Herr Gott aus dem Erdboden sprießen lassen, in des Gartens Mitte aber den Baum des Lebens und den Baum der Erkenntnis von Gut und Bös.
(For out of the ground made the Lord God to grow euery tree pleasant to the sight, and good for meate: the tree of life also in the mids of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and of euill.
10 Und ein Fluß kam von Eden her, den Garten zu bewässern; er aber war von da ab geteilt und zu vier Häuptern geworden.
And out of Eden went a riuer to water the garden, and from thence it was deuided, and became into foure heads.
11 Pischon heißt der erste, der das ganze Sandland umfließt, wo das Gold ist.
The name of one is Pishon: the same compasseth the whole land of Hauilah, where is golde.
12 Fein ist das Gold dieses Landes; dort gibt es auch Harztränen (Bdellium) und Onyxstein.
And the golde of that land is good: there is Bdelium, and the Onix stone.
13 Und der zweite Strom heißt Gichon, der das ganze Land Kusch umfließt.
And the name of the seconde riuer is Gihon: the same compasseth the whole lande of Cush.
14 Der dritte Strom heißt Tigris, der östlich von Assur vorüberfließt. Der vierte Strom ist der Euphrat.
The name also of the third riuer is Hiddekel: this goeth toward the Eastside of Asshur: and the fourth riuer is Perath)
15 Der Herr Gott nahm also den Menschen und setzte ihn in Edens Garten, daß er ihn bebaue und pflege.
Then the Lord God tooke the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, that he might dresse it and keepe it.
16 Und der Herr Gott gebot dem Menschen und sprach: "Von allen Bäumen im Garten darfst du nach Belieben essen.
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Thou shalt eate freely of euery tree of the garden,
17 Nur von dem Baume, der Gutes und Böses keimen lehrt, darfst du nicht essen. Denn sobald du von ihm issest, bist du des Todes."
But of the tree of knowledge of good and euill, thou shalt not eate of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt die the death.
18 Und der Herr Gott sprach: "Nicht gut ist es, daß der Mensch allein sei; ich will ihm eine Gehilfin schaffen, die ihm gleichgeartet ist."
Also the Lord God saide, It is not good that the man should be himself alone: I wil make him an helpe meete for him.
19 Nun formte der Herr Gott aus dem Erdboden alle Tiere des Feldes und alle Vögel des Himmels. Diese brachte er zum Menschen, um zu sehen, wozu er sie bestimmte, und genau das wozu er ein Lebewesen bestimmte, sollte seine Bestimmung sein.
So the Lord God formed of the earth euery beast of the fielde, and euery foule of the heauen, and brought them vnto the man to see howe he would call them: for howsoeuer the man named the liuing creature, so was the name thereof.
20 Und so gab der Mensch allem Vieh und des Himmels Vögeln und allem Wilde eine Bestimmung; aber für einen Menschen hatte keines als Beistand gepaßt, ihm gleichgeartet.
The man therefore gaue names vnto all cattell, and to the foule of the heauen, and to euery beast of the fielde: but for Adam founde he not an helpe meete for him.
21 Da ließ der Herr Gott einen Tiefschlaf auf den Menschen sinken, und als dieser eingeschlafen, nahm er eine seiner Rippen und füllte ihre Lücke mit Fleisch.
Therefore the Lord God caused an heauie sleepe to fall vpon the man, and he slept: and he tooke one of his ribbes, and closed vp the flesh in steade thereof.
22 Dann baute der Herr Gott die Rippe, die er vom Menschen genommen, zu einem Weibe aus und brachte sie zum Menschen.
And the ribbe which the Lord God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her to the man.
23 Da sprach der Mensch: "Diesmal ist es Bein von meinem Bein und Fleisch von meinem Fleisch. Deshalb heißt sie Weib, weil sie vom Manne genommen ist."
Then the man said, This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shalbe called woman, because she was taken out of man.
24 Darum läßt ein Mann Vater und Mutter und hängt sich an sein Weib, und sie werden Ein Leib.
Therefore shall man leaue his father and his mother, and shall cleaue to his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
25 Die beiden aber, der Mensch und sein Weib, waren nackt; aber sie schämten sich nicht voreinander.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
