1 Mose 19
1 Und die beiden Engel kamen des Abends nach Sodom; Lot aber wohnte in Sodoms Vorstadt. Als Lot sie erblickte, trat er an sie heran und neigte sich bis zum Boden.
And two of the messengers come toward Sodom at evening, and Lot is sitting at the gate of Sodom, and Lot sees, and rises to meet them, and bows himself—face to the earth,
2 Dann sprach er: "Meine Herren! Kehrt doch in eures Knechtes Haus zur Nachtrast ein und wascht euch die Füße! Dann möget ihr frühmorgens eures Weges ziehen!" Sie aber sprachen: "Nein! Wir wollen auf der Straße mächtigen."
and he says, “Now behold, my lords, please turn aside to the house of your servant, and lodge, and wash your feet—then you have risen early and gone on your way”; and they say, “No, but we lodge in the broad place.”
3 Er aber drang inständig in sie, und so kehrten sie bei ihm ein und betraten sein Haus. Da bereitete er ihnen eine Mahlzeit, buk ungesäuerte Kuchen, und sie aßen.
And he presses on them greatly, and they turn aside to him, and come into his house; and he makes a banquet for them, and has baked unleavened things; and they eat.
4 Noch hatten sie sich nicht schlafen gelegt, als schon die Männer der Stadt, die Leute von Sodom, das Haus umringten, jung und alt, das ganze Volk bis auf den letzten Mann.
Before they lie down, the men of the city—men of Sodom—have surrounded the house, from young even to aged, all the people from the extremity;
5 Und sie riefen nach Lot und sprachen zu ihm: "Wo sind die Männer, die heute abend zu dir gekommen sind? Bring sie uns heraus, damit wir sie erkennen!"
and they call to Lot and say to him, “Where [are] the men who have come to you tonight? Bring them out to us, and we know them.”
6 Da ging Lot zu ihnen vor die Tür hinaus; die Tür aber verschloß er hinter sich.
And Lot goes out to them, to the opening, and the door has shut behind him,
7 Und er sprach: "Meine Brüder, tut doch nichts so Unnatürliches!
and says, “Please, my brothers, do not do evil;
8 Da habe ich zwei Töchter, die noch keinen Mann erkannt haben, sie will ich zu euch bringen. Tut an ihnen, was euch beliebt. Doch diesen Männern dürft ihr nichts tun; denn darum sind sie in meines Daches Schatten getreten."
now behold, I have two daughters who have not known anyone; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them as [is] good in your eyes; only do nothing to these men, for therefore they have come in within the shadow of my roof.”
9 Da schrien sie: "Pack dich weg!" und sagten: "Kam einer als Gast und Richter zugleich? Jetzt tun wir dir noch übler als jenen." Und sie drangen hart auf den Mann, auf Lot, ein und gingen daran, die Tür zu erbrechen.
And they say, “Come near here”; they also say, “This one has come to sojourn, and he certainly judges! Now, we do evil to you more than [to] them”; and they press against the man, against Lot greatly, and come near to break the door.
10 Da griffen die Männer hinaus, zogen Lot zu sich ins Haus, nachdem sie die Tür abgeschlossen hatten.
And the men put forth their hand, and bring in Lot to them, into the house, and have shut the door;
11 Die Leute am Hauseingang aber hatten sie mit Blindheit geschlagen, klein und groß, und so konnten sie die Tür nicht finden.
and the men who [are] at the opening of the house they have struck with blindness, from small even to great, and they weary themselves to find the opening.
12 Die Männer aber sprachen zu Lot: "Hast du noch jemanden hier? Etwa einen Schwiegersohn, deine Söhne und deine Töchter? All die Deinen in der Stadt führe von diesem Ort weg!
And the men say to Lot, “Whom have you here still? Son-in-law, your sons also, and your daughters, and all whom you have in the city, bring out from this place;
13 Denn wir vertilgen diese Stätte, weil der Klageschrei wider sie vor dem Herrn mächtig geworden. Darum sandte uns der Herr, sie zu verderben."
for we are destroying this place, for their cry has been great [before] the face of YHWH, and YHWH does send us to destroy it.”
14 Da ging Lot hinaus und redete mit seinen Schwiegersöhnen, die seine Töchter geheiratet, und sprach: "Auf! Fort aus diesem Ort! Der Herr will diese Stadt vertilgen!" Aber er schien seinen Schwiegersöhnen zu scherzen.
And Lot goes out and speaks to his sons-in-law, those taking his daughters, and says, “Rise, go out from this place, for YHWH is destroying the city”; and he is as [one] mocking in the eyes of his sons-in-law.
15 Nach Anbruch der Morgenröte aber drängten die Engel Lot und sprachen: "Auf! Nimm dein Weib und diese deine beiden Töchter hier, daß du nicht weggerafft wirst ob der Missetat der Stadt!"
And when the dawn has ascended, then the messengers press on Lot, saying, “Rise, take your wife, and your two daughters who are found present, lest you are consumed in the iniquity of the city.”
16 Als er zögerte, griffen die Männer ihn, sein Weib und seine beiden Töchter an der Hand, weil der Herr ihn schonen wollte; sie führten ihn fort und ließen ihn erst draußen vor der Stadt los.
And he lingers, and the men lay hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, through the mercy of YHWH to him, and they bring him out, and cause him to rest outside the city.
17 Während sie sie hinausführten, sprach einer: "Flüchte dich um deines Lebens willen! Schau dich nicht um! Bleib nirgends in der Niederung stehen! Flieh ins Gebirge, daß du nicht weggerafft wirst!"
And it comes to pass, when he has brought them outside, that he says, “Escape for your life; do not look behind you, nor stand in all the circuit; escape to the mountain, lest you are consumed.”
18 Lot aber sprach zu ihnen: "Nicht so, Herr!
And Lot says to them, “Oh not [so], my lord;
19 Dein Knecht hat nun einmal Gnade bei dir gefunden; groß Erbarmen hast du mir erwiesen, mir das Leben zu retten; aber ich kann nicht ins Gebirge fliehen. Dann aber könnte mich das Verderben ereilen, daß ich stürbe!
now behold, your servant has found grace in your eyes, and you make great your kindness which you have done with me by saving my life, and I am unable to escape to the mountain, lest the evil cleave [to] me and I have died;
20 Siehe, diese Stadt ist nahe genug, hineinzuflüchten, und nur ein kleines Stück ist's noch. Dahin könnte ich mich flüchten. Es ist ja nur noch ein kleines Stück; dann könnte ich am Leben bleiben."
now behold, this city [is] near to flee there, and it [is] little; please let me escape there (is it not little?) that my soul may live.”
21 Er sprach zu ihm: "Wohlan, ich nehme auch darin Rücksicht auf dich und will diese Stadt, von der du sprichst, nicht zerstören.
And he says to him, “Behold, I have also accepted your face for this thing, without overthrowing the city [for] which you have spoken;
22 Flieh eilends dorthin! Denn ich kann nichts tun, bis du dorthin kommst." Deshalb nannte man die Stadt Soar.
hurry, escape there, for I am not able to do anything until your entering there”; therefore he calls the name of the city Zoar.
23 Eben war die Sonne aufgegangen; da kam Lot nach Soar.
The sun has gone out on the earth, and Lot has entered into Zoar,
24 Der Herr aber ließ auf Sodom und Gomorrha Schwefel und Feuer regnen, vom Herrn her, vom Himmel herab.
and YHWH has rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah brimstone and fire from YHWH, from the heavens;
25 Und er vernichtete diese Städte, die ganze Niederung und alle Insassen der Städte und das Gewächs des Feldes.
and He overthrows these cities, and all the circuit, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which is shooting up from the ground.
26 Sein Weib aber schaute hinter sich und ward zu einer Salzsäule.
And his wife looks from behind him, and she becomes a pillar of salt!
27 Abraham begab sich nun in der Frühe an die Stätte, wo er vor dem Herrn gestanden.
And Abraham rises early in the morning to the place where he has stood [before] the face of YHWH;
28 Und er schaute auf Sodom und Gomorrha hinab und auf das ganze Land der Niederung; da sah er, wie ein Qualm vom Lande aufstieg, wie eines Schmelzofens Qualm.
and he looks on the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and on all the face of the land of the circuit, and sees, and behold, the smoke of the land went up as smoke of the furnace.
29 So war es, als Gott die Städte der Niederung zerstörte; dabei gedachte Gott Abrahams und schickte Lot aus dem Bereich der Zerstörung weg, als er die Städte, in denen Lot gewohnt, zerstörte.
And it comes to pass, in God’s destroying the cities of the circuit, that God remembers Abraham, and sends Lot out of the midst of the overthrow in the overthrowing of the cities in which Lot dwelt.
30 Lot zog dann von Soar hinauf und wohnte im Gebirge mit seinen beiden Töchtern; denn er fürchtete sich, in Soar zu bleiben. So wohnte er in einer Höhle mit seinen beiden Töchtern.
And Lot goes up out of Zoar, and dwells in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he has been afraid of dwelling in Zoar, and he dwells in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 Da sprach die Ältere zu der jüngeren: "Unser Vater ist alt, und auf Erden gibt es niemand mehr, der Umgang mit uns haben könnte nach aller Welt Brauch.
And the firstborn says to the younger, “Our father [is] old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us, as [is] the way of all the earth;
32 Komm, wir wollen unserem Vater Wein zu trinken geben und uns zu ihm legen, daß wir durch unseren Vater unseren Stamm erhalten!"
come, we cause our father to drink wine, and lie with him, and preserve a seed from our father.”
33 Da gaben sie ihrem Vater in jener Nacht Wein zu trinken; dann ging die Ältere hinein und schlief bei ihrem Vater; er aber merkte nicht, wie sie sich legte, noch wie sie aufstand.
And they cause their father to drink wine on that night; and the firstborn goes in and lies with her father, and he has not known in her lying down or in her rising up.
34 Am Tage darauf sprach die Ältere zur Jüngeren: "Siehe, ich habe heute nacht bei meinem Vater geschlafen; wir wollen ihm auch diese Nacht Wein zu trinken geben. Dann geh hinein und schlaf bei ihm, daß wir durch unseren Vater unseren Stamm erhalten!"
And it comes to pass, on the next day, that the firstborn says to the younger, “Behold, I have lain with my father last night: we also cause him to drink wine tonight, then go in, lie with him, and we preserve a seed from our father.”
35 Und sie gaben ihrem Vater auch an diesem Abend Wein zu trinken; dann ging die Jüngere hin und schlief bei ihm; er aber merkte nicht, wie sie sich legte, noch wie sie aufstand.
And they cause their father to drink wine on that night also, and the younger rises and lies with him, and he has not known in her lying down or in her rising up.
36 Also kamen die beiden Töchter Lots durch ihren Vater in Hoffnung.
And the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father,
37 Und die Ältere gebar einen Sohn und nannte ihn Moab; das ist der Stammvater der heutigen Moabiter.
and the firstborn bears a son and calls his name Moab: he [is] father of Moab to this day.
38 Auch die jüngere gebar einen Sohn und sie nannte ihn Ben Ammi; das ist der Stammvater der heutigen Ammoniter.
As for the younger, she has also born a son and calls his name Ben-Ammi: he [is] father of the sons of Ammon to this day.
